That was for canne exploitaion, rhum making and cigar rolling. All through the visit, the guide had lots of comment on how the canne was planted, growend, cut and transport.
Then we had a visit at a factory where they crush the canne to extract the juice for sugar but also rhum and melasse.
We also visit a place where they roll cigars. I was surprise to lear that they use water from maple tree from Canada to complete the end of the cigar used to smoke. It is seal with a tin leave and maintain in place by humidifying it. When time to smoke comes, all you have to do is cut the tip of it just enough to aspire (not inhale) the smoke. Great with a good cognac.

Best deal for transportation, $5 dollar all day and prompt service. Travel tip of the peninsula to the far side of Varadero city. The buses are clean with a friendly driver and helper. Stops at all the best spots.
The Taxis are way too much for the distance you travel, the Varadero bus is the best option.

Double Decker Open top buses run from 8 am to 9 pm daily.
Cost is $5 CUC for whole day. Best time to get on is first thing in morning when buses are head out towards the tip of the Peninsula. Buses run about every 20 or 30 minutes each way.

Using the city tour hop on hop off bus was easy and fun to use. However, it's a long drive going in and out of each resort to to each stop so the return seemed to take forever. $5US paid on the credit card on the bus, or signs at bus stops of ways to pay online.

For me, it was the first time riding on a hop on-hop off bus. It was so much fun! Fresh breeze, openness & unblocking view, touching palm trees from the top when stopped. I felt like a little child. And JUST because of the open roof, even when it was once fully packed, you don't smell any bad odor from sweat or whatever. So it doesn't get too bad no matter how many passengers are on it or how hot it may get.
Another plus is the price. Really cheap and you only pay once for the whole day! (supposing you don't lose your ticket in the meantime!).
Great and fun experience.

Start early so you get the best bang for the buck.$ Always bring a light jacket and head cover. The sun is hot and breezy wind fools you. Also have a bottle of water. Take the full tour of the entire bus ride and then stop off at the different markets. The people including the tourists gives you a better understanding how fortunate we all are. So remember to look with your heart.xx

For 5 pesos, you can ride the bus unlimited all day. We took the bus from one end of penninsula to the other and got a good feel for Varadero this way. At the start of the route by the bridge, a local waiter came on board with pina coladas for $5 in a pineapple...delicious, and so enjoyable to drink while upstairs on the open top bus looking at the sights of the town. Definitely recommend.

Lots of stops along the way. If travelling in a group taxi faster option and about the same cost. One all day bus pass 5 CUC but a taxi that gets you anywhere directly about 30 CUC . Splint with a group much more convenient.

As we had done in Havana we decided to do the same here and take the local bus which in itself is pretty much a hop-on hop-off 1 price all day fare. Conveniently for us it stopped right out the front of our hotel, the cost was the same as in Havana 20cuc and it was an open top deck double decker. This was perfect for taking photos and video. The bus proceeded away from town and took us to where all the more expensive hotels and resorts were located as well as the Marina. It was great as the bus actually went into some of the larger resorts giving us a better view of the opulent lobby in some of them. It then double back and headed towards town at which point we decided to get off, have a coffee, some lunch and buy some souvenirs. Once again it conveniently picked us up at one of the many stops along the main street of the town and headed back to our hotel in good time. It truly gave us a good look at basically most of what there is to see in Varadero as well as many great photos, video footage and lasting memories.

We stayed in a resort in Varadero. We purchase our 5 CUCs day pass to visit Varadero. An opportunity to see the city and chat with locals outside the resort. I was informed that the service starts at 9 AM (Resorts) and ends at 9PM (Varadero). An advice is not to take the bus coming from Varadero. Sometimes they waive to you to pick you up while dropping other tourists coming back from Varadero. Very bad idea (for us anyway). The bus will take you all the way to the end of the strip of the resorts to drop off people before they do turn back to Varadeo. You may be spending more than an hour on the bus before it makes its way back to Varadero. It might be a good thing for some if they want to see other resorts from the bus, but not us.
