We took the double decker bus from the stop outside our resort and did the entire circuit. It was a terrific way to see the city. We paid 5 US and some of us paid 5 CAD (worth a try!). We were able to get off, do a little shopping, walking and then get back on. A fun way to spend some time, see some sights and meet some people (it can get a little cozy during peak times).

We used the bus service multiple times on our recent trip to Varadero. Sometimes with stops in mind like Cueva deambrosio and varahicacos eco reserve. As well as just to ride around and view Varadero. It was convenient and fun for both purposes. The only confusion was payment. Sometimes they would only take credit card, other times internet wouldn’t work so they only took cash. $5 for the day is well worth it and they ran about once an hour for most of the day. Last bus run seemed to be up and down with timing but that’s ok:)

We used this twice during our stay. The first time were forced to use our credit card even though we wanted to pay cash. The second time they input my card twice and said it wasn’t working then let me pay cash. When I checked my card upon returning to Canada, I was double charged the first day and one of payments went through the second day so double charged again. We were charged $5 USD but saw others get on for $5 CAD. Also we were told the bus ran til 7pm, but when we tried to get on at 6:30 after dinner (after waiting an hour for a bus) we were told it was the end of the line and it wasn’t running anymore. $20 USD cab ride back to resort.

This is a great and fun way to tour Varadero from the Marina to Town. A hop on hop off bus. When on the top level take your hat off so you do not lose it.

Note that those buses are for tourists as locals can’t afford them, so you would think that the driver would treat people with care – no such thing. The driver would open the doors for a few seconds at a stop and would close it without checking if people are still getting off. He slammed the door on people a few times. Once he didn’t close the doors, and the bus full of people was driving at 60 km/hr with the doors wide open. At one of the stops he slammed the door while an elderly woman was still getting off, and started driving while the woman was hanging off the bus. Passengers screamed. The driver stopped. But neither the driver, nor the woman who was selling tickets on the bus bothered to come out to check if the passenger was ok. They both glanced indifferently, and the bus kept driving.

Good news is that on all the buses I hopped on a $5 Cdn was accepted as payment which is good deal! Some other visitors on other buses where forced to pay USD either cash or CreditCard With the reduced tourist traffic the last bus now STOPS running at 6pm. NOT 9pm. That just means you are taking a $20 taxi back to resort from dinner or the Beatles bar anyways

Hello, besides cash do they take credit cards? In Cayo Coco, the ticket-taker on the bus insisted on it.
Thanks.

Заведение La Bodeguita del medio Varadero.

Same question as Melody... is this bus line currently running? Also, does it operate from the Varadero airport into Varadero?

No puedes disfrutar nada.Son muchas horas de viaje.

I am sorry that I can't help you with this and didn't respond promptly as I was travelling. I believe that it runs from the marina at the top of the peninsula and back, stopping at all hotels in between. I expect that there is one that runs back and forth from Varadero the other way as well. There are lots of buses coming and going from the town!

Do they still have the Hop on Hop off Bus that starts at the marina (at the end of the peninsula) and goes to Matanzas city?

Yes they do. Know the stops you want because it can be very difficult to understand the driver who simply yells out the location. If you are sitting at the back of the bus it may be difficult to hear.

Hello,
you can take the Tickets by the Busdriver.
And it is an Bus to drive from the Hotel to Varadero and back. It is not the Hop on Bus with Informations. It is no Mikro inside.
Have a nice Time at Kuba. Happy Holiday.

Once you are on the bus, do they announce each stop?

They will announce the streets and different attractions that people usually stop at. When you are in the district of the hotels, they will announce each as you come to them..
