Commanding site on way in by shipTry to visit as there are some interesting features and you get lots of exercise.About the only place to buy souvenirs that are locally made and quite reasonably priced.

Good to walk around and take in the views from different parts of the castle. Souvenir vendors outside the castle as you walk from the bus.

Santiago de Cuba is not worth the trip. There is plenty to see around Trinidad

I visited it long time ago. So, I cannot tell wether there is a refurbish or not. But I can assure that conditions are OK.
