With Baila Habana you can book online dance lessons with professional dance teachers. With us you can dance on terraces above the rooftops of Havana, or in one of the many beautiful saloons in historic houses. With each lesson you have a Cuban dance partner. Besides dance figures and rhythm theory you are also working on styling. The lessons are perfectly tailored to your previous knowledge and expectations. All your Cuban dance partners have a professional training and years of experience as dance teachers. All dance teachers and dance locations are personally checked Baila Habana is also a social project, with the task of supporting the Cuban people to build an independent life. Cubans can be self-employed since early 2011. However, they are lacking of resources and skills for their independence. Despite excellent training most dance teachers are working for tour operators or dance schools for a small salary and unfair conditions. At Baila Habana the fee for the dancing lessons goes to 90 % to the dance teachers The Agency reserves only an administrative charge of 10%. We support the dancers also in their professional and personal development with language courses f.e..

Usual late review.
I have been watching the YouTube videos for some time. I was planning on taking another school in Vedado but that fell through as I stayed in Centro. A friend strongly suggested this place from first hand experience.
It was very easy to hook up the classes. The owner asked what I was looking for. I wanted the most authentic Casino lessons (I dance regular Salsa already) and wanted to be whooped. She hooked me up with Daiana. Very pretty woman and great dancer. She called me asked my skill level, and then up in meeting me put me to task lol. I had told her I didn't want to be told "good" when it wasn't and she made good on that. It was exactly what I wanted. But she was also very nice. I wished I had had 2 more days of class with her.
The location is beautiful, in Old Havana near both the ocean and the bay. A bakery across the street, a church nearby, a great restaurant. Not a touristy street unless you want dancing and know where to look.
The headmistress headmistress was a lovely lady as well (she hated how I always kept my sunglasses on), and all the guys in there are cool. They also seem to be able to hook up a Casa as well and they do spanish lessons. Seriously I would suggest always going with these Gals (and guys).
My regret is not taking her up on the Dance Taxi aituation more often. I only did it once. The first couple days I had tentative plans with a friend and she was occupied after that.

Fantastic experience at Baila Habana
Feb 2020
I booked an intensive 5 days of dancing with Baila Habana and it was an unforgettable experience. They paired me with a very professional and patient dance teacher who made me feel at ease. Thanks to the amazing Ahmed, my dancing skills and confidence improved a lot in such a short time. I definitely recommend taking lessons here, everyone is very friendly and they are exceptional dancers. They tailor the lessons to your particular needs and are very flexible. Thank you everyone, I am already looking forward to my next visit :)

Bailar at Baila Habana

I had a really great experience with Baila Habana.

Since the first contact with Sabine, was really easy to organize my classes directly in Havana from my country. She also provide to find me a casa particular at 50 meters from the location, in the heart of Havana Vieja.

Staff is super: Maryella perfectly knows how to do, she always present and 100% welcoming with customers. It is impossibile don’t hug her every time you meet her. Hours, prices, it was really easy to organize day by day my classes and my wishes.. even by WhatsApp

And what about the teachers! Professional staff, great time with them all. I have seen wonderful professors as Reiner, Alejandro, Claudia, Duniel (best raggaeton ever with him)..

But first of all I wanna thanks Marybel 💃🏻... level of her teaching is really great, she always on top even when she had to explain me 100 time how to do a single vuelta.. communication skill was great, we had great time together at school and outside as well. I will miss her. Gracias mi Vida, best Salsera I have ever met!

I strongly suggest them as the best salsa/rumba/bachata/raggaeton school in Havana..
Even for a few hours.. my best Cuban experience ❤️

Although I started from zero dancing, I had a joyful week thanks to the great lessons with Rey and a lot of fun with all the dancing teachers and the members of our group. It was really a unique experience to dance with Baila Habana and to experience Havanna! Try it, it's pure life energy!

wow. these teachers are amazing. Not only good dancers, they are incredible teachers! So patient (and let's face it, i can be quite frustrating when learning to dance:-)) They were able to figure out what i was doing wrong and correct it quickly. Highly recommended!

Salsa dancing in Cuba
Dec 2019
Want to learn salsa, become a better dancer? Baila Habana has everything available: Sabine Mueller, the head and soul of the school taking care of everything; a teacher to dedicate his or her great competence to guide you always with a friendly care; good location of the school, good casa particulares recommended; great fun with other pupils and teachers in the evenings in various dancing places.
I have been some 5 times in this school (in Havana and Santiago) during the past years and feel grateful. Splendid experience every time!

Love it - back for more lessons!
Dec 2019
I enjoyed my salsa lessons with Arlene so much in July 2018 (see my Trip Advisor review of that date) that I contacted Sabine and took more lessons with Arlene this past week.

As previously Sabine was very efficient and confirmed by email right away that Arlene was available and would be expecting me. The atmosphere at the studio at 107 Calle Aguiar was very relaxed as it was the previous year, and had the same great vibe, with everyone enjoying the music and no one being judgmental (of my struggling with the steps). This time I stepped up my game, taking three hours of lessons in the morning and another hour after lunch. I add that there is no pressure at all, and you can take as many or as few classes as you want.

The students were a mix, many of them like me repeat students - a lot from Germany and Switzerland (Sabine splits her time between Germany and Havana and her school in Santiago de Cuba) - and an older couple (husband and wife) as well. Next time I will try to persuade my wife to join me for lessons.

Arlene was very patient with me again, and I felt very comfortable with her. Her English I add is excellent so much so that regrettably I found myself speaking English with her rather than working on improving my Spanish.

I learned from Arlene and another student, that the Spanish lessons Baila Habana offers are very good, and next time I'm going to ask Sabine to arrange a Spanish teacher for me for some one on one Spanish conversational practice.

I would highly recommend Baila Habana as a friendly and fun way to learn salsa, son or other dance styles, and experience some real Cuban culture in a no pressure environment.

Lessons with Claudia and Ahmed = Best salsa classes in Havana!
Nov 2019 • Couples
My husband and I traveled to Havana for the third time in November. Each trip we have taken a dance class or two at other dance studios, and we’ve taken other salsa classes in our hometown of Seattle. This was our first time taking classes from Baila Habana. Claudia and Ahmed were assigned to be our instructors for our 6 hours of classes.

We have danced with instructors who are great dancers but poor teachers, and with average dancers but good teachers. Learning from Claudia and Ahmed was a great way to learn from professional dancers who are very, very thoughtful about how they teach. Rather than focusing on moves, they really helped us focus on leading, following, and styling.

At one point, my own shoes were giving me a blister and I wasn’t in a great mood. Despite feeling sick herself, Claudia sized up my feet and literally loaned me the shoes off her feet so I could finish the lesson! They were both very encouraging.

I appreciated the dynamic between Claudia and Ahmed. They were equal partners in our instruction and spent time conferring on strategies to help both of us improve. Lovely, smart, tough teachers! We highly recommend them and thank them for making our Havana trip so special!

Great teacher, fun lessons and overall amazing experience
Nov 2019
I travelled to Havana as part of the Bailando dance retreat which worked with Baila Habana dance school. Reiner was my instructor who was a patience and knowledgeable teacher as well as an amazing dancer himself and a lot of fun. I went from a complete beginner to comfortable dancing in public and I am keen to continue dancing now I'm back home. Highly recommend
