When we got there, we were informed that the tour wasn't running that day which was no issue as we only went there for the cigar store. A lot of different people tried selling us cigars in Havana but we decided to go here as we'd been told on the way to the hotel from the airport in Varadero that this is a trustworthy place. I did buy some cigars from here and I'm very happy with the quality and price of them. I would definitely recommend the store to someone who wants to buy authentic Cuban cigars. They also have a little bar inside the store so it's a nice place to cool down.

It's worth a visit to the factory that produces all the pure habanos on the planet, of all brands (which was a surprise for me). Contrary to what Google says, the factory is NOT closed (how could it be if the business drives the local economy?!); What happens is that the original factory is undergoing restoration (it was located
on Rua Indústria, nº 416, close to the fraternity park) and was provisionally allocated on Rua San Carlos, around the corner with Peñalver (I didn't remember the exact number). The visit takes place between 8am and 1pm, starting every hour and you must previously purchase tickets, which cost 10usd per person, at specific locations (I bought them at the Hotel Telégrafo, after visiting the Hotel Holanda and they reported that they were out of stock). system for sale... both are in the central park, practically side by side). The tour lasts approximately 30/35 minutes and you have the opportunity to observe the different stages of the process after a brief theoretical introduction to the main aspects of tobacco cultivation and cigar production. I thought the experience was worth every penny paid.
The sales store is not in the same building and, considering that prices are set by the government, it is not worth visiting, as I found it more crowded than the “habano houses” spread across hotels and throughout Havana Vieja.

Build to give you the full experience of a cigar selection. Those good people help you understand and choose the best fit for you.
The cool thing was that they also have a variety of selection of whiskeys or chocolate, to combine with your Pouros! And a special smoking room.
You can also pay with card, rare thing in Havana.

Got a tup tup taxi to the factory, he agreed 1,500 peso and when we got there said it was 2,500 peso while we debated. He royally screwed us.
The cigar factory is closed for refurbishments so we could only take a photo of the outside. The "shop" selling cigars and allowing a brief tour is actually at a different location. So do your research on this.

I can well understand others' confusion. The factory is still marked in guides and tourist maps as next to the Capitolio. And the official cigar shop is still there. The factory is not but you can still do tours. The explanations as to why production moved seemed a bit confused but since January 2012 it's moved out (probably temporarily but not clear - this could be permanent) to slightly more modern premises a 15-20min walk away. It's a walk through Chinatown and its very ordinary shops at the side: the address is San Carlos 812 at the corner with Penalver. The street crosses Avenue Simon Bolivar, just a few blocks away from the Iglesia de Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (itself worth a quick peek). However, just pick up a flyer from the cigar shop to confirm the street address and either flag down a cab (with the risk they'll try to take you to umpteen cigar shops in the interim) or just walk it.

The tour itself is BRILLIANT for 10 CUC (completely trumps the rum museum which is overpriced). I've never smoked, never will, no personal interest in cigars other than as one of Cuba's principal industries. And I really enjoyed seeing the factory, which is a real, live production line with the heat, gossip, targets and CCTV (the employees didn't have this monitoring in the old factory and are really grumpy about its introduction). Bring a bottle of water with you - it gets VERY hot in there and you'll need a quick swig as you trek up and down the factory stairs. But you'll get an excellent explanation of cigar production, feeling the different types of tobacco leaf used in the process, and seeing every stage of production, including the labelling of the cedarwood boxes. You start to understand the prices attached to the good brands - this is, after all, an organic, handmade product, with stringent quality control right down to where the little stickers go on the cigars themselves. Rolling them is a real work of art. The tour helpfully debunks the myth that bigger is better cigar-wise, so you'll be a more informed shopper if you're buying some presents to take home for friends and family. Genuinely recommend the tour - although it's now a bit of a trek, just do it. You're not really allowed to take photos but they drop heavy hints that cameraphones are fine as long as you're very discreet.

The shop itself is the standard price for cigars; the good thing about visiting it is the central location and the guarantee that the cigars are the real deal. We bought a couple as gifts, but for boxes or bigger orders, you could probably find better value elsewhere. Just don't buy cigars from street husslers - they'll be palming off second, third or worse quality products on you, made by trainees and apprentices and very likely using rubbish quality tobacco.

This is a good tour. But there are some things you need to know. First, when I was there, they moved to another building which is at San Carlos St. No. 816 between Sitios and Peñalver Streets in Central Havana. The address of the new factory where the tours take place is posted outside the gift shop which is in the old building at Calle Industria 520 right behind the Capital Building. The best way to get to the new cigar factory location where the tours take place is by taxi, which is normally 10CUC. The second thing you need to know is where to get the tickets. They are sold by the Havana Tourism Bureau at some of the major hotels. I know the Hotel Saratoga, Hotel Telegrapho, and Hotel Inglaterra all sell them. I have also been told different things about buying tickets in advance. One person did sell me the tour tickets a day ahead of time, but another person told me that you have to buy the tickets the day you go on the tour. One word of warning about buying tickets, if the person who runs the Havana Tourism Bureau desk at the hotel is not there, then you may have to go to an alternate hotel to buy the tickets. The tour tickets cannot be bought at the factory. Also, when you buy a cigar factory tour ticket, my understanding is that it is good for a Partagas Tour or a Romeo Y Julieta tour. The Romeo Y Julieta factory is close by to the new Partagas location. I went on the Partagas tour. No pictures are allowed to be taken once the tour starts. The tour is worth it and I hope this helps.

Cuba is the best country for cigars, and visiting Partagas' Factory is really interesting. The guide will explain you all the different steps to make a cigar, the factory is amazing because the employees work in what may seem to us terrible conditions, but they are Cuba's proud, and have many advantages...

The atmosphere there is crazy, but unfortunately you can't take pictures...

Go there, this is an unforgettable experience. But don't buy your cigars at the shop, they're expensive.

A friend who has worked as a translator and guide for years in Cuba visited to pick up 2 boxes of Cigars to bring back to the UK.

The store in the factory told her she would need to come back tomorrow for a box of Partagas Serie D No. 4 and Montecristo No.2.

She returned the next day and was presented with the boxes and charged official full price.

On return to the UK I inspected the boxes she had bought - at an official LCDH store...

No factory codes on boxes, no date of manufacture, fake government labels and very sub standard cigars - either factory seconds or home-rolled with stolen tobacco. There is no doubt those two boxes, purchased at the Partagas factory were "fake" and non-official Habanos merchandise.

Beware!

I was preparing myself for a realy touristy experience, but actually had a really fun and interesting time. Our guide was very honest (I think), and we were shown around all the stages of cigar making. The highlight of this factory is that you can actually watch the workers and talk to them and the atmosphere is very real and down to earth, especially funny were the condoms that were hung from the ceiling instead of balloons and that instead of the reader reading classic literature he was reading the workers erotica.
Overall, although expensive, it is definately worth the price.

We visited this place in March 2016. The tour took us over one floor where we watched the various phases of Cigar manufacturing. At the end, one of our group asked to buy Cigars so the tour guide took us inside a room and offered to sell cigars. I bought two of them which turned out to be fake cigars.
