Welcome to RutaBikes! Since 2012 we offer Bike City tours in Havana, as well as bikes rental for self-exploring the city or for long journeys along Cuba. With our local guides you will have a glimpse of our customs, culture or our daily life. Our three mainly city tours: Classic, Sunset and Bay, are properly designed to give you a first impression of this city and its suburban areas. Our tours cover some of those “must see” places you have heard about, but also many areas out of the beaten tracks: Hidden places, small alleys, secret corners, and always close to the Cuban people. In RutaBikes we are able to take care of either a single client or large groups. If you're planing your holidays with friends or family, let us take care about every detail: Bikes, transportation, accommodation and else. Are you one of those who like to explore on your own? Short Bike Tour

I recently cycled to Trinidad and back for a short getaway in Cuba. I’m an experienced bike tourer and wanted to rent a bike as bringing my own was too expensive for the short amount of time.

Ruta Bikes were great. The bike was fine for what I needed and the lady working there was extremely helpful and friendly. They had everything else I needed for a bike tour had I not brought my own from home and were affordable.

You can trust this company if you need a reasonable bike for a few days worth of touring or just to spend a few hours cycling around the city.

Thank you Ruta Bikes and especially to the lovely person behind the front desk. I cannot remember her name but she’s amazing.

Still The Best!

This was my first trip back to Havana since the pandemic began. So much has changed, but Ruta Bikes, like the rest of Cuba, has survived, and is poised for a resurgence. I had done a longer-term rental with Ruta before, so I was pleased to find that Angie was still available to book a 10 day rental. Even though I had to change my booking, Angie, joined by Mimi and Bryan, kept in touch and made sure all was good. I have been on all of their city tours, but still went on a ride with Boris, one of the founders, just to reacquaint with the city. A bicycle is by far the best way to see Havana, and having a good guide who can give you history, culture, and even lessons about the aqueduct system and indigenous plants and animals is invaluable to those who want to really know Havana.
I ended up adding days to my visit, and made some fun day trips, including to Fusterlandia, Finca Vigia, Regla, Guanabo and the Botanical Gardens. I recommend you take a guided tour, get a feel for the city, and then rent a bike and strike out on your own. Make sure you have downloaded an offline-accessible map app, like maps.me, before you arrive! Everyone associated with Ruta is kind, professional, and so very helpful! Go see them, see Havana on a bike, and have fun!

Must do in Havana

Sam took us all around Havana. It was interesting and insightful to see the non-touristic parts of Havana. The forest of Havana is also amazing and something we would have missed if we did not do this tour. Sam could answer all of our questions and provided a good insight in the lives of the locals. We recommend taking the tour on your first day in Havana, it provides good overview of the city and you will still have time to try some of the suggestions of your guide.

Cycling through beautiful Havana with excellent guide from RutaBikes!

We organized at the start of our holiday in Cuba a bicycle city tour with Rutabikes. We got a great guide Daniel who was fluent in English and who showed the main parts of Havana during a 4 hour cycling trip. Cycling is in my view the best way to discover a city and Daniel definitely knows the places to visit.

We enjoyed it that much that at the end of our holiday we booked again at RutaBikes a cycling tour around the Bay Area of Havana with Daniel as our guide. We discovered new parts of Havana that you would normally never see and even had a nice local beer.

If you want to discover Havana in a relaxed way and see parts that would normally be out of reach, take this tour. You will love it !!

RutaBike was amazing

We went on a 4hour bike ride in Havana city with Rutabike. It was interesting, safe and with a very knowledgeable guide. She knew everything about Cuba, the history, the politics and was very friendly and patient. We had our two kids of 10 and 12 years and the ride had a lot of stops and interesting stories for them too. We can highly recommend Rutabike!

Awesome bicycle tour with Daniel

Daniel is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. We had a 3 hour ride in the city of Havana with Daniel and really enjoyed it. Daniel is fluent in English and he explained all points of interest in great details. I would recommend this tour to everyone who wants to have a unique bicycle tour in Havana

The best bike tour ever!

Eva was amazing!! We learned so much and had so much fun! We saw areas of the Havana we definitely wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We stopped for fruit at the market and peanuts from a street vendor. The tour ended up being 5 hours- it was fabulous having a Sunday morning tour since the streets were quiet for riding.

The bike shop is in a gorgeous old house, near the park and a church. I have included a photo, to help others spot it. Our taxi ride from old Havana to the shop was 10 CUC (arranged by our casa). Eva called our taxi driver when we were heading back to the shop, so he was there when we arrived back.

Great was to see the city!

We texted Ruta bikes (+53 5 2476633) the day we wanted to do the Sunset Tour and they were very accommodating: willing to stay late and give us a tour later that day. Henry was friendly and knowledgeable and we had an enjoyable and informative tour. The bikes were very nice, with shock absorbers that made a huge difference especially in Central Havana. We followed recommendations to take a cab and ask the cab to come back to pick us up later. It was a great way to see the city! Thank you, Ruta Bikes!

Highly recommended - did the sunset tour and we were provided bikes, helmets and a guide. Cycled all around Havana and learnt a lot. Mask was on the entire time so felt save from a COVID perspective. Turns out it is very easy to cycle in Havana - even on the roads in Old Havana so no concern there. Best part was cycling done the Malecon with the sunset. Loved it!

bikes were modern and in very good condition. people very helpfull. we can recomand ruta bikes. we did a tour to varadero and back. no flat tires, no problemes with the bikes. attention please: take enough euro or dollar with you. you have to give a deposite of 200€ for the bikes and after that you should have enuogh money for your holidays
