We stayed nit far from here so got to wLk past this cathedral every day. The square has lots of restaurants tucked off in little side streets. Buskers come out during the day and it's Live with tourists. My favourite square.

well, well this is my third visit to havana city and I am happy to say that I have had a wonderful time in this beautifull place and most of this great experience is due to havanatours.nl travel agency who provided us with an excellent service during our stay there; humble, smiling and profesional staff always happy to scort us on our trips through the city either on a bike, on foot or in amazing road trips in the most efficient and fancy american old fashion cars I have ever seen, visiting places with a lot of history and dipping into the real Cuban culture all over the city. I just have to say thanks a lot for the amazing time you gave us and that I hope once I come back you will be there still to show us more from this beautiful country.

Wonderful big church with a square in front of it. It also has statues around the square to take pictures with!

Described as music setting stone, Havana's Cathedral which dominated by two unequal towers and framed by a theatrical baroque facade. A curiosity of the cathedral is its interior, which is neoclassical rather than baroque and relatively austere. Frescoes above the altar date from the late 1700s but the paintings that adorn the side walls are copies of originals by Murillo and Rubens. Free to enter, however to climb the smaller tower of the two tower there is a small fee.

This is a lovely cathedral impresses with its uniqueness. It has got two unequal towers. It is located on the beautiful Plaza de la Catedral, surrounded by beautiful historic buildings. Built in the Baroque architectural style by the Italian architect Francesco Borromini, the church is dedicated to Saint Christopher and serves as the seat of the Cardinal Archbishop of Havana. The interior is not as richly decorated as a facade but impresses with its simplicity. The interior is decorated in a neoclassical style and contains several copies of paintings and frescoes by Peter Paul Rubens and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Absolutely amazing.

Impressive looking cathedral with a bell tower and nice architecture. Quite small inside and easily viewable from just inside the entrance where you stand behind a rope.
You can pay and walk around but there is no real need.
Please be aware you cannot wear shorts, hats or short skirts inside the main area.

The cathedral faces onto a square which 10 years ago was
a totally run down area.
Today it has been totally modernized with restaurants, bars and street vendors.
The cathedral itself is a very small building compared with cathedrals
in modern cities - more like a local church.
But like most cathedrals it is steeped in local history.
If you look at a tourist map of that area of Havana there are numerous museums.

A small, well kept church. But very modest compared to the imposing monuments celebrating the horde of Spanish and Cuban heroes. OK by me!
