Plaza de San Francisco de Asis

Beautiful architecture and place. This place dates back to probably the 1600 or 1700s and has great samples of Spanish architecture of that time.

Among the squares in Old Havana, I like San Francisco de Asis Square most. First of all, the church beside the square, is very gorgeous. (better than the Cathedral, I think) And drinking soft drinks or cocktails at the restaurant nearby is very restful.

Beautiful monuments and modern art both adorn this plaza, lined with elegant buildings and not far from the Mercado San Jose which is a great place to buy souvenirs and art. If you need a place to rest and soak in peace, this is a good spot.

This is one of the few places you can change money in the weekend. Get there before 10am as long queues can take up to 2 hours to get to the teller. Must have a passport. Other than this, the square is nice with lots of people asked Ng for money.

This is a beautiful square right by the port. It is full of people selling thier wares from peanuts to crisps. Ladies are dressed here in Cuban style dresses selling cigars. We were warned that the cigars were fake!

Next to the port, this is seemingly the largest of the four squares which are dotted around Havana Old Town. We sat and had a drink here as the world went by. It's a lovely square but not the best one.

Went with Copperbridge Foundation and the AIA, this was the most spectacular dinner event I have ever attended in Havana. Thank you to Patrimonio and all the CBF team!

Busy square with a taxi point for those wanting to be dropped off in Old Havana. A couple of bars serving food and drink with seating outside. A wandering band was there when we stopped on our way to the airport and serenaded us. Nothing special, really, just good to know about if you are staying in Old Havana and... More
