First saw this plaza in 2010 and keep coming. The sunday morning mass usually features an fantastic choir that in itself makes it an event. The catedral bell tower provides a great view for those who are not faint of heart, the view from the second floor resturant is also pleasent.

The cathedral is a Baroque jewel surrounded by elegant stone buildings and makes a nice backdrop to the lively square. The inside and the view from the tower are quite nice too!

This is a lovely square where the cathedral dominates, but there are several other historic buildings as well. A few touristy but picturesque restaurants are also in the square. However, the cathedral was never open during our stay, including on Sunday morning. I guess it's politics. Some of the other churches in Havana are now performance spaces.

This place is quite strange if you observe it. The cathedral (catholic church) has two uneven towers with two different size bells. There are some nice (but extremely touristic, EXTREMELY) restaurants near there

Other squares nearby but this was our favorite architecturally and lots of folks simply taking in the aura. Hemingway's local bar is just a couple of blocks away if interested.

A nice plaza, of course with a cathedral. The lovely old church is very old, but it's kept up as nice as it can be for the city.

Full of history and beautiful old surrounding buildings. They have a cool flea market on Sundays with "trinkets, collector items and memorabilia". Perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon strolling around this historic area.

Not a one compared to the ones in Europe but still it worths to see when you are in Havana. You will see it anyway while you are walking around the old city...

This is a perfect place to people watch because lots of kids and families, musical groups, patrons are milling around. We really enjoyed all the activity occuring around us. We were disappointed that the church wasn't open - we have never been in a country where none of the churches are open so that part was disappointing,

It is not just the buildings which are so attractive here it is the people who dress up in all sorts of things to try and get you to photograph them, at a cost, but just seeing them is great. This was much quieter and less crowded than some of the other places we visited in Havana.
