Short tour and presentation is good and depending on what you’ve paid for, there are three versions of tasting. The cheapest is for three samples of varying aged rums. Be aware that if you make any purchases in the shop, they only accept credit cards or USD. Only non US credit cards. Otherwise only cash USD. I find this to be odd as the entrance ticket is paid in pesos.

Had an engaging tour lasting 30-40 minutes with another couple, delivered in English, which explained how rum is made. It included a video introduction, a train set /model of a factory to show how it all worked, I liked the movement around the building to see the different elements that take place to make rum, eg seeing the barrels and tanks etc. With the cheapest package, it includes a tasting of one of the rums, and a rum cocktail, which you can drink in your own time. More expensive packages included tastings of multiple rums, etc. It was a tour worth doing!

Great place to drink rum and learn a little bit about it. Great visual and interactive experience. Not much information to be honest, but it’s just enough to learn something and not get bored. And I definitely recommend to buy the “extended” ticket, you’ll get three different drinks in glasses instead one (the cheapest) in a plastic cup. The price is not that higher. And try the special drink in the lobby before the tour begins. :) the bottles in the shop are the same as all around Cuba (even at the airport), so you don’t have to buy it here and carry around all day. :)

In a country that is still learning how to deal with Tourism, and with the Museum of the Revolution closed, Meseo del Ron was the best museum we visited in the country. The tour is quite interesting, and tells the story of the Run, its manufacturing process and Havana Club products. At the end there is a tasting of some of the brand's labels. There are several tour options that differ only in the rum that is served at the end. There is also a pleasant internal square, where you can sit at tables to taste rum or even smoke a cigar. The store has better prices than we find in other stores in the country.

The tour, which lasts approximately 1 hour, is well (and practically) informative, about the production of rum in Havana. Don't expect any interactive attraction or stuff like that. The guide has a lot of knowledge and conveys a lot of information about the entire history and process of production of the beverage. At the end, a small dose of the product is tried.

The museum is very small but it is very well organized. We paid for the classic tour which cost us about 350 pesos per head, which is a gift since it includes a cocktail. Great guide, very well explained!!

I haven't visited you in years, but you are preserved, your aroma and flavor are still there.
Excellent museum, professional guides in Spanish, English and French.
Beautiful model of the train.
If you visit it you will learn about rums and especially about the Havana Club, in the end you will taste this rum.
I recommend this place.

Very difficult to find accurate information about the museum online. We went on 2 different occasions to discover firstly it’s closed on Mondays & secondly we require a guide but there was none in our language for another 2 hours but we had to leave for the airport. Disappointing as we would have loved to have seen the museum.
I’m sure it’s great inside.

I don't drink so the rum tasting was lost on me and I didn't have high hopes for this tour...however...I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that the owners have really put some thought into the museum so that it is interesting for all. There is a giant model of the site as it once was, along with many other artefacts and an informative video presentation. Some passageways are even lined with shoulder high sugar cane effects to add to the experience. Our guide fully explained the rum making process in just enough detail to educate but not too much to bore us, and she was happy to take questions. The site also keeps samples of the high proof alcohol that is produced before distillation but too strong to legally sell. If you want to try 75% rum this is your place! She also had an even higher sample that is too strong to drink so she just poured a capful and let us sniff the vapours. Wowee!!!

Along with its cigars is rum probably one of the better known cultural heritages of Cuba. And among rums its Havana Club that bears the city's name in its brand and is thus the probably best known Cuban rum there is (not necessarily the best in my opinion though). To honor its history and the general history of rum-making in Cuba, was a museum erected in downtown Havana. It doesn't tell you too much about the process - I#d describe it as a very vivid children's museum rather, but it has a nice patio, where you can enjoy a good drink and it's a cultural alternative to the few good museums the city unfortunately has to this day...

I like to book a tour to the Rum Museum but I'm unable to email in order to book.
I am due to be in Cuba Feb. 10 to Feb. 17.

The tours at the Museum run in English from 11am every hour until 4pm. You can go by and book the time you prefer.
Written February 10, 2018
I don't believe there is any cost associated with the tour. It's a business that sells cigars, but also provides you demonstration on how they are made, various types of cigars, etc.

Hello!
What times and days of the week do they conduct english tours? How far is the museum from old Havana?
Thank you!
Written December 12, 2017
The Rum Museum is almost on the waterfront in Old Havana. Any taxi can take you there, unlikely to cost more than $CUC10. The English language guides we heard were highly proficient in English. You may wait a while to get a group together, but probably not more than 20 minutes judging by the rate groups were moving through the Museum. I disagree with the observation offered that the tour was designed to get you into the sakes area: we had a lot of questions on the way through the museum within our group and there was no rush...

I will be coming in from the US on Royal Caribbean Cruise in October and want to visit the Museum. Supposedly I can only be in Havana on On Shore Excursions. How can I get to go to this? Is there an excursion that goes here?
Written July 19, 2017
There are a number of onshore excursions that you can take there. It's probably best to book it prior to your arrival. It will probably also be included as part of a combined tour.
We were able to purchase a "cultural exchange" VISA, but it's probably not worth going through that exercise/expense for this one tour.
