Cuba 360 Review
We wanted to get an intimate view of Cuba, without relying on the large group tour or having to make all of our travel plans. Fortunately we found Cuba 360. From first contact with Cesar, the owner of this company, we knew we had made the right choice. Cesar was responsive, well organized, thorough and accommodating. He planned a 15 day tour of the western end of Cuba for us that covered all the usual sights but also many hidden gems. This tour included a car and driver, Lionel, who did a great job. Cesar was our full time guide and he arranged all accommodations and took care of all entrance fees. We were financially responsible for our lunch and dinner costs and any other personal expenditures.
Our B and B’s were all individual casa particulares. These were ensuite units that included air conditioning, private baths, full breakfasts and welcoming hosts. Cesar either accompanied us to meals or made recommendations which were all stellar. Dinner menus were often edited because of the inconsistent supply chain in Cuba. There were ample choices of chicken, pork and fish. Beef was rarely available at the restaurants we visited.
Cesar has a wealth of knowledge, is very fluent in English and made the mistake of telling us in the beginning that he would be happy to answer all our questions. Little did know that we would have so many! We left Cuba with a very complete social and historical perspective. He helped us with currency exchange. It is a cash society so there are no opportunities to use credit or debit cards. He even provided evening entertainment showing us videos of Trevor Noah, a history lesson about Hugo Chavez and an introduction to Havana Club 7 rum!
We highly recommend using Cesar and Cuba 360 if you want to see the real Cuba.

When the cruises to Cuba from the USA were cut off in 2019, we were left thinking we wouldn't be able to go to Cuba. Then we discovered Cuba 360 Holidays! Cesar was very helpful in explaining our options for visiting Cuba. We conveyed to him what we wanted to see and do while there and he set up everything for our family trip to Cuba. This was hands downs the way to experience Cuba and support the Cuban people! We are so glad our cruise was cancelled and we got to experience Cuba this way. A very authentic experience that is compliant with the US regulations/restrictions. Cesar takes care of all of the details - places to stay (every family was so nice and each house we stayed at was clean, comfortable, and welcoming), all transportation, booking for all activities, help with places to dine, and helping us "find" children to whom we could give gifts as we were out and about. The kids loved receiving the things we brought for them - school supplies, fun size chocolate bars, baseballs, gloves, soccer balls, ball pumps, etc. And the host families were very grateful for the things we brought them (toiletries, flashlights, household items, etc) And we felt safe no matter where we traveled over the course of those 10 days. Such an enjoyable trip on every level! We highly recommend using Cuba 360 Holidays for your trip to Cuba!!

My wife and I recently did a slightly modified version of Cuba 360's 11 day private birding tour and had a wonderful time. We usually prefer independent travel even when traveling off the beaten path but coming from California made that seem too troublesome. After contacting Cesar at Cuba 360, we felt like he could give us the flexibility we desired while providing top notch guiding service. Cuba 360 did not disappoint!
Our guide was Cesar's dad who is also named Cesar. He is experienced, speaks English, well-connected with locals (including the Cuban birding community), and a lot of fun to be around. Cesar Sr. gave us lots of good recommendations throughout or stay and took us to some excellent cultural attraction that matched well with our interests beyond birding. We were also joined by local guides at several different locations.
In Havana, we selected our places to stay and restaurants but other than that we pretty much left the two Cesars in charge. They did a fabulous job of finding small, locally-owned B&B type accommodations that probably never would have landed on our radar...nothing fancy but always comfortable. We had excellent food throughout our trip and enjoyed the "mom and pop" places for that Cesar Sr. picked for lunch. Dinners were not included in our package but there was always at least one good restaurant option within walking distance. The birding was superb and having the local guides included in the total price made a big difference in helping us find some of the more difficult to see species. Aside from birding, we did a walking tour of Havana, spent an afternoon sightseeing in Trinidad, went swimming with many beautiful fish in the Bay of Pigs, and enjoyed every town we ended up staying in. We enjoy meeting more locals than tourists when we travel and that was certainly the case in Cuba.
One of the things that really impressed us about Cuba 360 is that they did a great job of helping us navigate around some of the issues Cuba is facing as a country during difficult economic times. We were particularly concerned about the gas/petrol situation and did find many places out of gas while we were there. However, Cesar Sr. and our driver were always thinking ahead, allowing us to explore the western half of the country without ever missing a destination or having to change our itinerary.
If you choose Cuba 360, you will find Cesar very easy to communicate with as he speaks fluent English, has excellent skills when it comes to answering questions, and responses to email timely. We had no trouble paying Cuba 360 in advance using Western Union or with exchanging money after we landed in Cuba. If you think that traveling in Cuba may be too difficult, you might find just the opposite with the help of Cuba 360.

We hired Cuba 360 Holidays to guide us through Cuba with their 15-day bird tour. Cesar Jr. explained everything we needed to know to make our trip to Cuba seamless. Cesar Sr. was our main guide for the birds and we found 27 (of 29) endemics, only missing the Zapata Rail and Cuban Kite both of which have not been confirmed since the early 1900s. The local guides were very knowledgeable also in helping us spot the birds.
We also had a day tour of Havana and Yoami as our guide. She was great. She answered all of our questions and knew everything about Havana. The ride in the convertible was included as part of the tour and brought us to various areas of Havana. While it is something you should do while there it reminds me of how much cars have changed.
We were able to fit in some beach time and snorkel. The beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean side were beautiful and not crowded.
We stayed in Casa Particulars (similar to a bed & breakfast) and they were clean and comfortable with very good breakfasts. Considering the shortages in Cuba the hosts were miracle workers with the quality/quantity of food offered.
While there are severe gas shortages, we were able to maintain our schedule through the resourcefulness of our driver and guide. We were able to visit every site scheduled and were not held up due to gas shortages.
I was impressed with the friendliness of everyone we met. Not knowing what to expect since our governments are hostile to each other I was a bit worried that we would encounter hostility or resentment. The opposite was true. I have never met a more friendly group of people.
If you decide to go to Cuba, you should bring your own toilet paper for public restrooms. Only in rare instances do they have toilet paper. We did not have this problem in the places we stayed, although you should bring all your own toiletries since they rarely supply these. Also, please consider bringing any type of medicine or health care products for gifts to the hosts/hostesses. Severe shortages of aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, eye drops, allergy pills, etc. make any gift of these very welcome.
If you decide to visit Cuba you will definitely need a guide to get you around the country. With the gas shortages, you would probably be stranded waiting for gas. I would recommend Cuba 360 Holidays whether you want a bird tour or a cultural tour. We had a bit of both and the various guides are extremely knowledgeable and make your stay memorable.

Our trip to Cuba was at the end of February 2020. The whole trip was so much easier than much of the online commentary would suggest. Our stated reason for the trip was, "to support the Cuban people." We stayed in 6 casa particulars and ate in various paladares. All the accommodations had A/C, toilet paper, and ample bottled water for a very small charge. Nothing is expensive and Cuban beer is great.
The reason that everything went so well was our guide, Cesar. His son, also Cesar, runs the Cuba 360 Holidays organization with skill and integrity. If anyone is considering a visit to Cuba for any reason, that is the organization to contact . We certainly left Cuba feeling we had had an intimate experience with a truly great people.
That said our first interest was birding and that is where the senior Cesar is a great choice. He truly knows where to find the rare sightings. We missed only one of all the endemics that can be seen in Cuba. Truly extraordinary! Some of the birds we saw are listed as critically endangered. In addition we added other sightings that brought the number of life birds for the trip to over fifty.
Just one recommendation, don't wait too long. Some of these birds will not be there forever, and if you have no interest in birds, just go to see first hand a neighboring country in transition. There will be stories to tell for years to come.

My recent trip to Cuba has left me with so many wonderful memories that I will always cherish. I highly recommend booking with Cesar at Cuba360. I chose the “Taste of Cuba“ itinerary and found it to be a perfect combination of the most interesting places to visit - a virtual smorgasbord of the best of Cuba today. It is truly a photographers paradise !!
We had a wonderful tour guide, Beverly (he is the best!!) who went out of his way to ensure our group of 3 ladies (who had not met before the trip) had the best personal experiences based on our individual expectations. He has a vast knowledge of the history of Cuba and of the Revolution and loves to share it with visitors. He worked tirelessly to make sure we were all happy 😊
The accommodations in each town were really nice, and the Cuban people are very friendly and hospitable. The itinerary was varied and each day was filled with new and exciting experiences. To sum it all up, I found Cuba to be vibrant, amazing, beautiful and thrilling!

Cesar with Cuba 360 helped my friend and I design our own personalized itinerary, and the entire trip far exceeded expectations. Everything was conveniently planned and arranged, including door to door transportation and our COVID test to return home. Cesar helped us navigate the US travel laws and COVID rules without any confusion, and was easily reached at any time when we weren't with him if we needed recommendations or had any questions. He also responded to emails ASAP as we were planning for the trip, and was very accommodating. Cesar was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend this company.

Cesar was the best guide and made our experience truly authentic. He organized and booked everything for us, including the local houses we stayed at and the activities we did, while remaining flexible and adapting to changes in our itinerary as needed. Being from the US, it seemed more difficult to visit Cuba than it actually turned out to be. Cesar made it extremely easy for us and was very helpful in translating and helping us get around. He set up interesting and authentic experiences for our tour that made for a fantastic trip overall.

If you're looking for an authentic way to experience Cuba -- look no further! Being from the US I always thought that visiting Cuba was very difficult and maybe even potentially dangerous, but Cesar and Cuba 360 made it more than possible, easy, safe, and 1000% worth it. Cesar organized and pre-booked everything for our tour, all we had to do was give some initial input and then show up for a good time! All of the casa particulares, restaurants, and attractions were super authentic and beyond incredible. I would so recommend visting Cuba and doing it with Cuba 360!

Our tours are specially designed to comply with OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) restrictions for Americans traveling to Cuba. By choosing one of our tours you will be supporting not only us but also all the Cuban families that work to make your trip a reality.
