Playas de Este is the nearest beach to Havana. It is generally busy but at various parts you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas which are a must in the Cuban heat. Lovely white sands but the sea can sometimes be cold! Plenty of food...More

High-rise-less beaches, natural palm tree locations, warm water and not too crowded in January, as 85-degree weather is too cold for the locals. You can literally walk miles without seeing a house, high-rise or other people at certain times of the DAY. I emphasize day...More

We actually rode the local bus, A40, to the beaches and started at the western edge and walked along the beach, enjoying the eastern beaches before getting back on the local bus. It cost one CUC per person.

yes, just go to Parque Central, and jump on the 3T bus. It is only 5 cuc round trip , and runs about every 40 minutes. If you want to save a little time, a taxi will take you their for around 20 cuc.

If it’s before 6pm there is a bus that will take you to Havana. Otherwise there are often taxis driving by (very often locals in their car so they may not want to risk driving a tourist). Otherwise if you have driven there... More

Snorkeling in Playas de Este? (4 Replies)
Isn't it too cold to swim and snorkel in early December? How is the water in Playas de Este and how is snorkeling there? Does it make any sense to bring a snorkeling gear? (7 days in Havana, daily trips to playa)/ Thanks!

5 CUC bus to Playas De Este (21 Replies)
I've seen reviews and forums that talk about taking a bus to the playas. Just wanted to get more information from people who have used the bus. Is it only the Habanabustour buses that go there? Is the bus for the most part on time? Do you buy the ticket from the bus driver or else where? Do you get the return ticket at the same time you initially pay? It seems to have 3 stops near the beach or am I misunderstanding? Any information would be much appreciated and helpful to myself and others...More

Merry Christmas !!! The T3 bus to Playa de Este Santa Maria is actually 10 dollars. What happened the last time is I was waiting at the stop, with another single gal, and a couple, . A independent taxi came up and offered us a ride , to and from the beach for 5 bucks a head. We all had to agree to get picked up at the same time going back ,m which we were all good with. So, hop on the bus, or you might find a deal like this. In my opinion, a great little place to be dropped off is at a little...More
