I was amazed at the cleanliness of Playa Maria del Mar in the Playa del Este beaches outside of La Habana. In less than half an hour, we were by a sparkling clear turquoise water beach with no trash at all (except for a large...More

This is a very close beach to Havana, if you can't make the 2.5hr ride anywhere else to sunbathe this is the best location. As I am frequent in the city and around the country I stop off at the beach each time and relax....More

You will need to find a taxi to take you here. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, the water is crystalline blue, and the beach umbrellas and chairs come with table service so you can enjoy a beautiful day on the beach.

We went on a Monday afternoon thinking the beach would be a bit quieter but we were in for a surprise when we reached the narrow (but very long) sandy beach filled with deckchairs. We were practically within arms length from others on our deck...More

Such a wonderful stretch of golden powder sand and warm turquoise water just half an hour drive from the old town Havana. There is reason why it can get crowded on summer weekends! I love the afternoon I spent here frolicking in the calm and...More

You can take a bus to get there ! It takes 20-30 minutes from Central Havana. Get there like 12pm and then pass by Malecon for sunset !

Guanabo beaches are not good. They smell from whatever is being pumped into it, probably sewage. The beach is very narrow and you trip over people trying to walk the beach.

One thing the cubans need to learn is to look after thier back yard. They have no respect for their future. Beaches were littered with rubish and cigarette butts everywhere. What a shame beach was great and water refreshing

If it’s before 6pm there is a bus that will take you to Havana. Otherwise there are often taxis driving by (very often locals in their car so they may not want to risk driving a tourist). Otherwise if you have driven there... More

You can take bus from Havana or do like we did, take a taxi. You can negotiate the price with the driver. We paid first 30 and second time 20.
