Get off at last stop for Mi Cayito. Benefits: last stop beach has less people and more alternative crowd, and its the first stop on the return bus... More

Highly recommend taking the bus (5 CUC from parque centrale) to Playa Santa Maria for an escape from the diesel exhaust. Bus ride is about 20-30 min, makes a few stops. December must be an off season time, beaches were nearly empty (scattered tourists, and locals). Water was beautiful. We did a half day, waited for the return bus for... More

Spent the day with four dozen friends private beach party, fantastic! Gorgeous beach, fantastic food and music. Breezy enough you didn't feel the heat.

This was the best beach after Varadero, even if we visited both Playa Ancin and Rancho Luna. Next time I would just go away from the plastic chairs and parasols and find the natural shade under the palm trees.

We were dropped off on the west end of the beach, and hiked for 3 miles. We saw 2 small hotels that were open...we stopped at one for a beer on the way back. [Look for the thatched round roof patio above the trees] Lots of abandoned buildings and broken up concrete walkways and patios on the way. Kind of... More

The bus leaves infront of Hotel Inglaterra (Parque Central). You can spend the whole day on the beach. At the beach there are services, locals sell drinks and food.

Lots of beach bars and restaurants nearby, sun loungers a-plenty and the occasional hawker who, if you don't want what they are selling will just move on with a shake of your head or "no thanks".
