My wife and I had an excellent 5 day tour with Adrian. We went from Havana to Vinales for one night and then on to Playa Larga for 3 nights. The pace was very suitable for us (my wife is only slightly interested in birding), the food and weather were good and the accomodation at Ca del Sol in Playa Larga was excellent with great hosts. Adian was careful in lining up some outstanding sites where I was able to take good quality photos. Thank you very much for the lovely experience.

We had a very fun day with Adrian birding and walking. We were a diverse group with some birders and some non birders. Las Terrazas was a good location with great birding as well as nice hiking and lunch spot. The zip line was not running Adrian was very flexible with our group, he is a delightful person and we enjoyed learning more about Cuba and Cubans from him. We also saw great birds with him!

My friend and I had a birthday and wanted to be in a special place for some endemic birding. We chose Cuba after talking with Arturo Kirkconnell Jr., who said he would arrange an endemic birding trip for us, even if no one else signed up!! How could we refuse, and we were not disappointed. We finally did have a total of six people on the trip including the guide, which was a very good number for our van. We were able to hear 26 of the 27 endemics, but did not get our eyes on the Gundlach's hawk even though our local guide did. I don't know when the last time anyone saw the Zapata rail, so that was not a disappointment to not hear or see the rail. Our guide was Alejandro Llanes, who I would highly recommend. Alejandro is a biologist and has a vast knowledge of the flora, fauna and history of Cuba. He was patient, kind and thorough with his instructions, so we knew exactly what to expect. Our transportation was an excellent mini type van with an excellent driver who respected our birding wishes. Ale and Alejandro worked well together, and I hope they use Ale in the future and give him some binoculars! Since we had five clients we had room to spread out as we had some very long drives on this extensive 12 day trip. Accommodations were fine, the food was good and plenty of it. No one became ill because of food or water issues, but we were all seasoned travelers. And entry and exit of the country was NOT a problem whatsoever, even though we had concern. If you are thinking about a birding tour of Cuba, just do it and give Arturo a call personally, to make the arrangements.

This was our only chance to leave Havana so I enjoyed seeing the countryside and small villages as much as the birds. Adrian was an excellent guide, very patient with us as we looked for birds. He knew exactly where to find species on my target list. The taxista found the Cuban solitaire on the cave face at Cueva Los Portales - all in all a great day trip to see some endemic Cuban species.

I had an amazing day with Adrian, who, with only two days notice, picked me up from my Varadero resort an we headed south to find some endemics in the Zapata Swamp area.I had given him my target species list the day prior, and he worked hard to find me these targets. Adrian was very personable and knowledgeable, with excellent eyes, and knew the calls very well which is key. Because of this we got our first Great Lizard-Cuckoo and Yellow-headed Warbler before we even got to our first birding site. Next up we went to spot where the incredibly tiny Bee Hummingbirds and Cuban Emeralds abound, but also the endemic Cuban Oriole, Tawny-shouldered Blackbird, and Cuban Pygmy-Owl! At other sites we found Cuban Tody, Cuban Trogon, Blue-headed Quail-Dove, Cuban Vireo, Cuban Crow, Cuban Pewee, and Plain Pigeon among many others. Lunch was also great with great fresh local food. All in all an amazing day, with a great guide, even with a last minute booking.
