I were lucky to pass by their meeting point at parque central. They mostly have a large white umbrella with them and wearing a shirt with Free Walking Tour. My first tour was with Paloma, she is a very active and opened guide with exceptional english skills. You can ask her any question about cuban history and living and she will answer it. We had a very informative tour through old havana and were able to look behind the frontages of the buildungs and imagine the life of the people in that century. We ended up having a coffee together and enjoyed cuban music and danced cha-cha-cha.
My second tour was also with paloma and covered the center of havana. At this Tour Daly supported her. They both have a lot of positive energy! This tour was more dynamic and we saw Chinatown and a small black market district of havana. This tour is better if you are interested in the current living of cubans and their challenges throughout their daily life. We had a nice viewpoint on top of a bar and ended up taking a taxi which brought us to the ferry station, where we individually discovered casa blanca. The ferry costs 0.1 CUC.
I had increadible expieriences oh these Free Walking Tours and can highly recommend them for others.

We went on both the Old city tour and the Central tour - both guides were exceptional (Johan and Teresa) and we learned a lot about both the city itself, the history of the country and life in Cuba as a whole. Would recommend this tour to anyone. Although this tour is free bear in mind that these guides need to make a living, and tip them fairly for the enthusiasm and knowledge they give. A fantastic way to discover the real Havana.

We did the tour in the morning at the beginning of our trip in Havana. The English-speaking was sick so we did the Spanish tour with Teresa and it was awesome! She took so much time showing us around and through her explanations we had a good overview of the city and the icons and places to see. But even worth-mentioning was the fact we received so much insider information and we heard so many interesting facts about the life of the locals. The tour was really long and much better than any of the touristic and superficial stuff you normally do. Thanks so much, we hope to come back soon and can't wait do the tour again. You do an amazing job, guys!

My wife and I enjoyed the free-walking tour we took on January 10, 2020 in the Centre of Havana (you can choose the Old Havana tour as well). The guide provided us with a strong historical background and insights about the key developments shaping the character of the city. The tour lasted for 3 hours (with a couple of breaks). I totally recommend it.

We had the privilege of spending 2 nights in Havana in Early December, staying in a private house at plaza del angel - where these tours start. We met Nek our tour guide just outside and started to explore the culture and history of old Havana.
His knowledge of and passion for the subject shone through, with excellent English and a good eye for the interesting sights.
We have been to Havana before and saw it crowded with tourists and bustling with life, but this time we felt we were the only tourists in the city and got to see what life is really like for the people of Havana.
If you are looking for an authentic experience, interesting and insightful, then these guys are the ones! It was a 3+ hour walking tour in the old town, with plenty of stops along the way.
They operate in a COVID secure way, with masks, appropriate distances and hand gel if needed. We felt well looked after, and as their very first tour since March, absolutely privileged to be there.
Thank you Nek!

I did two walking tours with Free Walking Tour Havana, one is Old Havana tour with guide Esis and other one is Central Havana tour with guide Rey. Both the tours were amazing, Old Havana tour gave a perspective of what Old Havana is, Esis was a gentle and knowledgeable person and made the tour interesting throughout, while Central Havana tour gave a more wider perspective of Cuba and Havana in general. Guide Rey was amazing, being a relatively longer tour he kept the tour engaging and he was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we asked, he was also very friendly and took us to places that surprised us in the end. I highly recommend taking both these tours to get the flavor of what Havana and Cuba is.

We took the Central Havana Walking Tour and it turned out to be awesome! We were absolutely lucky to have Paloma as our guide because she is so sweet, talkative, friendly, and simply one of the best guides that we have ever had around the world! She showed us the magic of Central Havana with a story on every angle. We were able to feel how people live there - It was once in a lifetime experience. Totally recommend joining the Free Walking Tours in Havana as it is the best way to explore the city.

What a great walking tour. Our guide was great. It didn't feel much like a tour just a gathering between friends and exploring the great old town in Havana. I recommend going on the tour if you want to meet great people and listen to the interesting history that the old city has to offer. The guides are super friendly and engaging. We had Maikel as our tour guide and he did a great job telling us about the history of old town Havana and interesting things that still happen around today. Really recommend

This is an absolute MUST DO for anyone arriving into Havana. Come prepared with a bottle of water and for a lot of walking and be ready to ask the very knowledgeable guides questions about anything and everything to do with Cuba and you will get the most out of the session.
We did both the old Havana tour and the new city tour approximately 1 mth apart. The Old Havana tour was lead by Paloma and the new city tour by Pepe. Both guides were incredibly knowledgeable about their country and the city and made the tours interesting, engaging and a top highlight during our month in Cuba. Do both tours, tip generously.

Sharon was so knowledgeable and very welcoming! The meeting point was very easy to get to and it is in front of a great restaurant! We had a little lunch before we began the tour. They offer two different tours, so I definitely recommend going for both! We missed out on one unfortunately. You can bring water with you or your tour guide will recommend spots throughout to purchase at a reasonable price. We enjoyed our time and only wish we had more time to do the second.

Hi we are visiting Cuba in April and would love to do the tour. I would never wish to offend anyone so was looking for some guidance on how much we should pay for the tour.
Written February 20, 2024
I went on the private tour and they have a set fee though I would defo suggest giving a tip at the end as they do rely on those for a better life around Cuba we tipped 50 euro

I was wondering how much to tip the tour guides?
Written October 17, 2022
The tipping is at your discretion but is the sole way that the guides are compensated. We tipped pretty generously and also gave a small bag of much-needed supplies to give to our guide for their own use or to give to friends/family. We included things like AA batteries, reading glasses, pain relievers - much, much needed, especially for children, a mix of individually wrapped candies for the kids, etc. The Cuban people are amazing and you will surely find yourself wanting to do as much for them as you can. Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did.

Hi all, how did you book your tour with a university student--is there a website? Thanks for any details!
Written December 24, 2019
You just go on there website which is freewalkingtourhavana
we book the night before we left and they fit us in perfectly.
you all meet at a central location and they break you up into English and Spanish groups, old Havana and central Havana..
we did both and enjoyed them but preffered central Havana.
Written December 24, 2019
Can you tell us where you stayed and recommend please?
Written October 16, 2019
We stayed at Parque Central for one night and did two separate Airbnb’s too. One on the Malecon and one on the outskirts of Havana. Airbnb’s were good value and you get to chat to Cuban’s who work there.
