In the morning, we went in a Russian army truck transport to the wonderful park Guanayara. We hiked a well maintained path “Sendero centinales del Rio melodios”:
- initially in an orchard and coffee plantation, where we had many explanations regarding local coffee trees and fruit trees
- then in a lushy tropical forest. We visited a natural cave where we saw bats.
- we also saw the beautiful waterfall “El Rocio”
- we swam in a crystal-clear natural swimming pool “El Venado”. It was a great pleasure to cool off in the natural swimming pool!

Altogether, I highly recommend to do this fantastic hike, especially for families with children (it’s a 3-hour trail). It’s a very pleasant trail in an idyllic and preserved nature!!!

Great day out!
Jan 2020 • Couples
Thought we’d get in a bit of walking whilst in Cuba and were glad we got a guide for the day. On the way we stopped at various points of interest including a remote small farm and spent nearly an hour seeing how they lived - and the loved seeing our photos of our lives!

Onto the park, it’s not easy underfoot so get good shoes with grip on! We messed about in two of the water falls and just loved the flora of the park.

At one of the waterfalls and enterprising man had set up drinks! So we enjoyed a Cuba Libre having just had an amazing swim in the refreshing clear waterfall pool.

Getting out of the towns and cities was a good idea and getting to see the amazing Cuban national parks.

Fun and Friendly

This is not the most spectacular scenery in Cuba, but it is beautiful and fun. It's an easy and enjoyable hike to a nice waterfall where it is fun to swim. I feel that it was a great way to get out and see the Parque

A day of hiking after a week of cycling
Mar 2019 • Friends
This is a wonderful mountain park, accessed by large all terrain vehicles. Our group was introduced to the local ecology at the visitor center. We had a wonderful cappuccino made with the locally grown coffee and then we were loaded into the trucks that took us to the foot of a trail. Our park guide pointed out the local flora and fauna. We even got to see a trogan, the national bird of Cuba. We hiked to the waterfall and swimming hole and were invited to take a dip, but after swimming in the warm waters of the Caribbean, the water was a little too chilly for my taste. We enjoyed our visit here immensely. On the way back down the mountain, we stopped at a little roadside stand to buy a kilo of the coffee. It is fabulous.

Beautiful hike in Cuba
Sep 2018 • Couples
The city of Trinidad is surrounded by mountains, and these mountains have beautiful places to hike.
We took a day trip to Guayanara waterfalls which is beautiful - surrounded by forests.
These trips are offered by the Cuban tourist companies - you don't go by yourself.
We went with a wonderful guide - Lenya Jeffers Gazon. Lenya is very knowledgable, speaks a bunch of languages, and is willing to give an honest critique of her society. To an admirable extent, she understands the Western mentality and will give you a run for your money...
The hike takes about an hour, ending up in a small but very good waterfall - perfect for swimming!
This was one of the best days we had in Cuba - try not to miss this (or other, similar) nature sites there.

Great way to spend half a day

Beautiful scenery, waterfalls, bird life - a lovely walk in the jungle. You should see the Cuban Trogon, amongst many other birds. There's a terrific natural pool for swimming, fed by a waterfall, which is idyllic. Take your camera and your swimming gear.

Really enjoyed our walk in Parque Guanayara. Some beautiful waterfalls and pools to swim in. Would be better if longer walk but well worth it. Water really refreshing in the heat!
