This was an excellent day of discovering Bonaire. Hans was a very professional and nice guide, pointing out things of interest and making sure we all felt safe. I would definitely recommend a trip with him if you’re in to something a little different.

Hans is a friendly, enthusiastic, humorous, self-educated naturalist, with a demonstrated interest in and concern for the ecology of Bonaire. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, and seeing Bonaire through his eyes was fascinating and educational. We booked both a hiking trip and a mangrove kayaking trip with him (on different days), and couldn't have been more pleased with the tours. For the hiking trip, Hans took us to an area to the west/northwest of Rincon, where we explored the forested and craggy uplands of the northern island. Highlights were seeing a variety of birds, trees, termite nests, wild beehives, and the karst geology. This is not a hike where you put in a lot of distance, but more of an observational nature walk, stopping frequently to learn about whatever's catches Han's attention. We very much enjoyed the experience. On the snorkel tour, Hans guided us through dense mangrove thickets along Lac Bay, where we pulled our boats by hand through the narrow channels, then out across the open waters of the bay. Once across, we hopped out of the boats and snorkeled up one of the mangrove channels. Highlights include studying sessile jellyfish laying in the shallow waters, spotting snapper lurking around the mangrove roots, following needlefish skimming along the sun-dappled surface, and observing all the various critters that make a living in the mangroves, both above and below the waterline. Even a lowly flatworm swimming by catches Han's eye and elicits some interesting discussion. These trips are best for folks who are adventure oriented, with a keen interest in the natural world, and who can appreciate Han's unscripted, easy-going style (which we did), and who can work with somewhat tenuous instruction (which we also did). Note that transportation is not provided - you arrange a meeting spot, and Hans leads you from there. For example, we met him at road pull-off, then he rode his 4-wheeler and we followed in our rental truck to our hiking spot for the day (first, we didn't understand that we had to drive ourselves, and second, we were actually waiting at the wrong place, but a passer-by alerted us that Hans was further down the road). Also note that the price is variable, depending on where he takes you. Hans, if you're reading this, thanks again for making our visit to Bonaire very interesting and enjoyable. We send our gratitude for your dedication to the well-being of our natural world, and our best wishes for the continued success of your eco-tour business.

Hans was knowledgeable and helpful. He carefully guided our group into the caves and told us all about the formations and wildlife. The cave tour is challenging (using the rope to get down and back up) both trips were a great way to get in touch with nature and learn about ecosystems. Worth every penny

We went wet caving with Hans and he was amazing, the experience was amazing!!! I cannot say enough positives about Hans. He was kind, knowledgeable, experienced, cares for the environment, funny, patient and absolutely makes the experience. We went in late December. Weather temp "felt like mid-90s". It was very warm in the cave. The cave water was refreshing. I do not like cold water, but I was fine. Getting down the cave is somewhat challenging so you need to be somewhat athletic. We wore swimsuits, and brought towels. I left my phone on the rocks because I wanted to spend the time taking it all in. Thinking back, I wish I would have brought it to take a few pictures (just one phone) because how many people get to go swimming in a cave? It was beautiful. If we would have known about Hans, we would have scheduled to do everything with him while in Bonaire. When we were in the wet cave, I felt like we were in a National Geographic episode. It will be a experience we will be talking about for years. Amazing and so much fun!
