This is a lovely restaurant overlooking the water - in fact the water comes right up to the steps. the beach goes on forever and you can walk far out into the water and still not have it above your waist. Great service!

Great place to go for an entire day out. A short drive from Kralendijk, but on the East of the island. This is where you go to windsurf in Bonaire. We did an hour of lessons and an hour of free time on the board....More

Lac Bay is famous for the strong wind and pro windsurfers but it's also excellent for beginners because of the shallow water that extends far off-shore, so when you fall off the board it's easy to get back up. Go in the AM for calmer...More

Trip Report Bonaire April 2018 (7 Replies)
We had an amazing week on Bonaire :) . Highlights: 1. Windsurfing! We booked this through Ann Phelan at Caribbean Wind and Sun Vacations. Lac Bay is perfect for beginners and intermediates--shallow, warm water, sandy bottom, steady on shore breeze. It was about 10-12 knots every day. Our favorite time to go was 3:30 in the afternoon as the sun was not as strong, and we could sail until closing at 5:45. Absolutely beautiful and we all improved a lot. 2. Van Den Tweel Supermarket. ...More

Glad you had a good trip..... I am a bit surprised and disappointed in your opinion of Jibe City... You observed what we thought about Jibe City the first time we sent to Bonaire (15 years ago) and sailed out of Jibe City. Since that time we have sailed out of Bonaire Windsurf Place as they tend to be more friendly... toward us anyway.. I thought that Jibe City had improved over the years. What I generally tell people now is that Jibe City tends to cater to and focus on the...More

Windsurfing for Beginner (12 Replies)
My husband and I will be making our annual trip to Bonaire in November. This time I’d like to try something new and have considered taking a windsurf class at Lac Bay. I’ve checked out websites for Jibe City and the Bonaire Windsurf Place and they both look great. Can anyone recommend either place? I’m also curious if I’d be forced to pay for a private lesson or if I can get into a class with some other folks. Thanks for your advice! Colleen

Both shops have good equipment and experienced instructors. My wife and I have sailed out of both of them. We now prefer WindsurfPlace, mainly because they have a nicer 'off-the-water' facility. If you're just going to take one lesson, it may not make much difference, but when you're there for a couple of weeks, a more comfortable place to rest and relax is significant. Now, the following is purely my impression and may get disagreements from others, but I feel that Windsurfplace is a little...More
