    North tour 1
We rented a car and did our own tour. It worked well. Pleased take in account that there are in the North not many open facilities to have lunch. The first stop was 1000 steps. A nice overview for taking pictures.

Worth a stop if you can avoid the cruise ship crowds
We went early to beat the crowds and saw some turtles and a stingray while snorkeling. The southern side of the beach is a nesting ground for sea turtles so you are likely to see some. Beautiful beach and the entry was relatively easy.

This was by far my favorite view. Loved it and I made it back up. The beach was coral and not sand. The water, omg... Could spend days here. Highly recommend if you visit Bonaire.

    Quite enjoyable snorkeling
1000 steps is very popular place, we always tried to get there early in the day to avoid the crowds. Our main objective was snorkeling, the entry in on the left side, when facing the ocean, marked by boulders. We found the snorkeling being more interesting on the left side, with better corral. Almost always ran into turtle or two, and if you swim further away from the main beach, you will most likely enjoy the natures wonders without other people, who tend to stick to few meters away from the shore.

    1000 Steps to nice snorkeling
Great snorkeling!!! Saw numerous parrot fish and a couple sea turtles! Would definately return. Used a cart from Bonaire Cruisers to get there and back from a short walk off the cruise ship.

Bonaire is primary a dive/snorkel destination and it lacks with easy access beaches we're used to. Driving around the island we stopped by 1000 steps (several free parking spots by the road).
1000 steps are some 20 min drive north from Kralendijk. First of all, don't worry there aren't 1000 steps, maybe 50-60. Beach down is beautiful with amazingly clean sea. Water entry is easy but be careful - it's a coral beach with lots of them around, so water shoes are a good option which we did not have.
When returning to Kralendijk from here you CAN drive back the same road (20 min). But, if you proceed north BEWARE - after the beach it becomes a one way road and you must drive a loop via Rincon (around 40 min), so have that in mind if you're tight with time.

One of the best diving sites we did. Very nice. I wasn't sure it was worth the walk down the steps fully loaded (not 1000, more like 73) and back up with dive gear, but it is worth the walk. Probably the best coral formations I saw all week.
There are other site-see folks, and snorkelers around too, but not an issue. Saw some folks trying to lay down a blanket, but it is way too rocky for this. So come and look, snorkel and definitely dive but don't plan on sitting on the shore unless you bring a chair!

Really neat place to visit. No shade so be prepared to get hot unless you are getting in the water. Path goes clear around bay. Some of the bluest looking water on the island. Rent a car and drive up there.

Our driver took us to the 1000 Steps with hopes to see turtles. We didn’t see any, but the water is beautiful. It is only about 70 steps, but be sure to bring water shoes because the shore is rocky. Saw some fish, but not as much as in front of our hotel.

Small “beach” area, 90% broken coral, 10% sand. Due to mostly coral waterline, it is difficult and awkward to enter and leave the water for snorkeling. The drive to 1,000 steps is scenic.

LOVED 1000 Steps! The water color is beautiful, it has a very easy entry, plenty of rocks to leave shoes or clothing on and a white sand beach if you want to just hang out. The snorkeling here was amazing. We were able to see 3 turtles as well as a ton of other fish. We felt like we were snorkeling through an aquarium. The road is narrow, for two way traffic for the last couple of miles, but there are some good areas to pass. If you go passed 1000 steps it does turn into a one way road and you have to drive through Rincon to get back, we went that way just to explore and it was beautiful and we had a chance to explore the north east coast a little bit. 1000 Steps is a must visit while in Bonaire.
