About
Kensington Oval is Barbados’ oldest cricket ground having been established in 1882 when Pickwick Cricket Club leased 4 acres of pasture land from Kensington Plantation and started to develop it as a cricket ground with a clubhouse. In 1914 the Barbados Cricket Committee the forerunner of current Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) bought the Oval but continued to allow Pickwick to lease the ground until 2004. With significant investment from the BCA the ground was expanded and upgraded over the years and by 2004 had grown to just over 7 acres.

Attended my first ever cricket match when I received an invitation from Andre Harding to enjoy Barbados hospitality at its best when England visited Barbados last month for the Test Match against West Indies. Highlight of the day was being introduced to the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers..
The Hospitality Suite was excellent - good service - good food and convivial company. Recommend a visit - worthwhile

Fo those interested in cricket and especially the rich heritage of West Indian cricket a visit to the Kensington Oval - the mecca for the Caribbean cricket community - must be top of one's priorities. Guided tours are available at a very reasonable cost where one can walk the hallowed ground once occupied by the titans of the sport. To stand near the crease once occupied by Sir Garfield Sobers, Frank Worrell, Desmond Haynes and Gorden Greenidge is quite sobering. The ground has a very futuristic main stand with other stands dedicated to different Barbadian individuals. For me it was a wonderful experience and one that should be taken for every visiting cricket fan.

Called in without a reservation and we were on a tour within 15 minutes. Just wonderful and so emotional walking around the stadium and then the pitch. Our guide was a little bit disinterested and removed but the experience is magic.

England v WI T20. England were shocking. Anyway. Parking on street or for a few bucks with entrepreneurial local businesses. There are no ATMs inside and the bars only take cash. Long queues for warm beer and the food was erhmm .. We were in the 3 WWWs. Save your money and choose a cheaper stand. The party stand looked great ! Good experience being in such an iconic stand but everything else sucked. Arrive early. Long queues to get in.

We had a tour this morning, my wife and daughter and parents, it was a brilliant tour but the guide was horrible. She tried her best to ruin it for all of us.
Keisha is her name. She was rude, abrupt and rushed us through the tour even though the ground staff wanted to talk to us. That woman should not be doing that job in that beautiful amazing place. The ground staff were wonderful but Keisha was horrid.
England loves you 🤙

Not a cricket fan myself I accompanied my husband to the cricket ground. We knew there was no game on but did the tour which cost ten dollars. We had a lady called Jenny showing us around. The tour included a video on the history of the ground and we had good views of the ground. We were able to walk down to the pitch for photo opportunities. There was a small gift shop in the ground too. Even though not a fan I thoroughly enjoyed our trip there.

We turned up and enjoyed an exclusive tour of the facilities and ground. What a pitch! They were holding a women’s rugby tournament when we visited ,great surface for the ladies. Next step to see a test match here.

We chose to have a tour of the Kensington Oval cricket ground and it was great value for money costing only $5 barbados dollars per person. The tours run every 30 minutes from 9.30am - 3-30pm Monday - Friday, weekends they are closed for tours. There was only 3 of us on our tour, this was great as it allowed us to ask the tour guide questions and take our time viewing the stadium. The tour took 45 minutes, we had chance to take many photos and even got to stand on the playing surface.

Cricket is like a second religion in the Caribbean, so if there is a big test match or one day game try to book tickets as soon as possible, a great place to come if you like cricket, as well as those of you new to the game the Caribbean people are so passionate about the game and cant help getting caught up in all the fun, ignore the 20/20 games that were on the TV with small crowds this was just down to greed by the organisers, and happy to say the prices are a lot better in general and offer good value for money

Incredible atmosphere here and plenty of music, dancing, drinking and some food available too alongside the cricket! Went with a school sports tour for netball and cricket and although I play netball and cricket isn't my thing I had an incredible time and I would definitely recommend going if you're able to!
