- KarenSt Leonards-on-Sea, United Kingdom15 contributionsFantastic but help save the turtles.Turtle trip was amazing! Bar staff great. Beach crew boy was extremely rude. (Braids with white beads) One big complaint is that they use umbrellas that stick into the sand daily.. therefor risk damaging turtles nests. Which are already endangered. (Simple solution of a buried concrete block would solve this)Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 2, 2023
- paddytyke2016Huddersfield, United Kingdom1,350 contributionsGreat Day!Great day all round. $70 Bbds pp with $45Bbds back in credit to spend on food/drink. Couple of inflatables in the sea, swing rope. Lots of beds and parasols. Large bar/restaurant area all shaded. Best part is the optional snorkelling trip. Charlie our captain was great at explaining the different marine life we would see as well as the stories behind the wreckage we saw. Great day on a beautiful bay.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 9, 2023
- Alians5Hastings, United Kingdom113 contributionsGood fun.... turtles are amazing!Had a good half day at The Boatyard. Entrance fee includes an amount for food and drinks, which was enough for our needs. It also includes a boat ride to the wreck and to swim with turtles. We had almost booked this separately so we were very pleased we didn't - the ride includes plenty of time at both sites and was a highlight of the holiday! We were there at the beginning of the season so there was only a slide, a water trampoline and a rope swing available on the sea - but these were great fun. The staff were friendly and helpful, other than the guy managing the beach who was just unnecessarily rude - we just refused to allow his attitude to spoil our visit.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 16, 2023

- CrouchersLatimer, United Kingdom37 contributionsBrilliant value gorgeous beach, saw turtles and shipwreckAmazing place brilliant value for money, got there at 10am, and booked on the 2nd boat tour to the turtles, had a front row lounger, beautiful beach and sea, and we had a brilliant 5 hours there, would have stayed longer but didn’t bring enough sun cream. Saw the turtles, wreck and fish. Good food and drink with included voucher so didn’t need to pay for anything else. Tannoy announcement for sailing trips and food orders, also saying to order in good time as can take 1hr so very transparent, will be back, fantastic memories for all of us.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 20, 2024

We were on a cruise and had two days in Barbados, and visited on the 31st January 2020. We got there just after 10am, not crazy early, but later than expected after having a very eventful journey there after a rogue taxi driver dumped us. We arrived to find a big built fellow stood at the door. Next to a sign saying "Sold out"....We learned that there were no sun loungers, no chairs and no availability for the turtle snorkelling tour either. So I asked the lady at the desk, is it cheaper given I'd have no bed or tour (I'd just enjoy the floating obstacles)? The answer was no. I then asked what exactly I was paying 2 x $25 for? And I didn't get an answer. I walked around the corner onto the public beach, and was able to find our friends (Boatyard beach is also public, NOT private). Given the beach is public, we were able to sit with them, providing we only sat on the sand. I pleaded with some of the staff to see if they could squeeze one person onto the turtle tour, and the answer was no. I said the manager still wanted us to pay $25 each, for nothing. The staff members response was "the manager won't care man, the manager is a pr**k". I wasn't even allowed into the venue to purchase a drink, nor to have even one swing on the rope swing. I had to pay $25 for the privilege. Then to add insult to injury, our friends who had paid $25, went to go do their turtle tour. They told us both we could sit on their beds. The staff came over like a bat out of hell and said "its $25 to sit on there". Then came over at 3pm to tell us we could have a bed now, again, if we paid. I personally researched the Boatyard, and recommended it to the other 6 people in our group. For me and my wife however our day was totally ruined, the management and staff were appauling. I honestly wouldn't waste your money or time here. They really don't care at all!!!!

We walked off thw ship through duty free shops and down to Carlisle beach, we choose to go into the Boatyard area where for 25$ you get to Swim with Turtles, boat trip to shipwreck, free drink, sunlounger, wifi, sea slide, sea trampoline.
we had food and drink in boatyard restaurant 48$ for 6 beers, 2 rum punch, chicken wings and garlic cheese bread.
we walked whole beach.
off the beach we had a beer and punch for 8$.
There was other sunbathing areas on beach, but Boatyard was lively and well worth money. Plus price includes transfer if you dont want to walk for 20 minutes.

Man alive.....if there's one thing you need to do when you're in Barbados it is to come here for a day.
Alright you have to pay an entrance fee which you mostly get put back on a card to spend in the club, but you get a sun bed a umbrella and people who just want to look after you plus you get a free trip to see the turtles.
On our first visit there was one guy on the beach who was litterally sprinting sunbeds and umbrellas around to make sure people had what they needed.
Two other mentions....the lady on reception is so charming and remembered my girlfriend from our stay a few days prior.
Also Rico who I saw two years ago and he remembered me.
You have to stay there for the free shots at 1:30....that's such an experience!!

Although you can indeed go to Carlisle Bay for free if you know the area I found The Boatyard was a perfect day for the first time visitor in Barbados..we stepped off the ship at the cruise terminal and were immediately met by very helpful staff at the port. I was directed to the waiting taxis..Taxis in Barbados are regulated so you do not get ripped off. Most of the taxis in Barbados are 9 seater small vans so they try to fill up seats before departure. We were with a group of lovely American tourists and we were all going to Carlisle Bay a short transfer of around 10/15 mins..we were dropped at The Boatyard first and it cost $5 per person, entrance into Boatyard was $25 and this included entrance, a sunbed and parasol, a cruise to snorkel over a wreck and swim with the famous turtles, this was an amazing experience and the boat crew were fantastic, they supply snorkels and advice on how to use them. We then enjoyed this amazing beach and the wonderful sunshine and sea. To cap it all off there is a taxi transfer back to the cruise terminal included in the entrance fee. I felt this was a very fair price and it was very easy for me as a first time visitor to enjoy Barbados with my family totally stressfree

We had a great day at the boatyard, $60 each to enter but you get $45 dollars put on a card for food and drinks. They provide sun beds, tables and umbrellas. Food and drink can be taken in the restaurant or on the beach, good variety and the Carib beer went down very well. There is a trampoline in the sea and an iceberg for climbing on, the sea is quite deep around these so make sure children have life vests if not good swimmers. The sea is so calm and beautiful sandy underfoot. There is a pier with high jumping ledges and a rope swing into the sea. Included in the entrance fee is a short boat trip to a ship wreck, where we snorkelled and we were lucky enough to swim with turtles 🐢. Snorkels, masks and life vests are provided. The sun shine and it was a perfect day.

Good value for money, nice place to spend a beach day!
$60 BBD entry but $45 you get back to spend on food and drinks! In addition to use of sun beds and umbrellas, showers etc. They also provide a snorkelling tour which is included in the entry which we thought was a great addition to the day!
We encountered one unfriendly member of staff but the rest were great. They require you to wear a mask when walking around the restaurant and to the bathrooms which is easy. Temp check required on entry as well.
The West Side Scuba centre is also based at The Boatyard and they are great! If you are looking to book any scuba diving or a Padi courses I highly recommend them!

We were recommended The Boatyard before our trip and then again by a couple at the Sharkeys in St Lawrence Gap who go every trip. A group of 6 of us went for the day. It was $60 BBD ($45 of which you got back on a card to use for food/drinks). That included use of sunbed a/umbrella, shower amenities, use of the ocean swings/slides and the snorkel trip.
We were told to get there early and we arrived around 9 which I’d recommended as there was quite a queue later for the cruise ship guests. The beach was beautiful. We had a great time snorkelling and got to see a few turtles and the shipwreck. We each got a meal and a few drinks with the bar credit then had a few on top. Food was great and served quickly. Staff are extremely friendly and service was excellent for such a busy place. I’d definitely recommend it for a day out and we’ll be returning on our next trip for sure.

We spent a day at the boatyard. It cost us thirty dollars each that included a sunbed and shade, a drink, a boat trip to see the turtles and a transfer back to our cruise ship. It was money well spent. The boat trip to see the turtles which also included a shipwreck was very good and well led by Eli. The free rum punch almost blew my head off 😊 The beach was beautiful and although we did not order food it seemed very well organized. We would definitely recommend a day here.

Awful place to visit. Management is rude and prejudiced. They treat local visitors awfully. Even going so far as to harass guests not to “feed” their local friends when they see them on the beach. As though their friends are animals to be pity fed. The food is subpar. The rules are restrictive and you’re not allowed to ride on jet skis when you visit. They will go so far as to snatch your wristband off and kick you out if you do. The experience is general leaves one wanting. Just not worth the money!!

I spènd the winter in Barbados and have sent so many people here as it looks a good deal especially for the cruise passengers .
However I was not aware of how rude the staff are and all the restrictions they have. You are not allowed to use any other vendors on the beach or buy someone a drink who has not bought a day package. You are told very firmly that you will be thrown out if you do.
I understand about the sunbed and facilities but it is not an all inclusive day so I do not see the need for the heavy attitude they show.
It gave my guests who were cruising a very poor opinion of Barbados and the people and said they had not experienced anything like this on any other island.

we went August 29 th for 22 nights and so i cant be sure of protocol in October but if you goon Barbados gov site i guess it updated now , we had covid tests in uk within 72 hours of boarding at Heathrow, had results and proof of date testing , everything print everything , immigration form easy 24 hrs before , we were treated with warmth and kindness on entering Grantley Adams , given sheets to take our temps am pm needed and easy , hotel hand sanitiser and temp taking machine on wall
They are spot on in Barbados, we went to boatyard once a week open and safe as are bars and hotels , masks on inside buildings , but sat down eating no and be assured all they want us to do is follow rules and keep them and us safe , go-and have a fabulous holiday , yes its a pain before you travel but worth it xxx

How much does it cost to get in and what is the food/drink card I've read about on trip advisor?
Written June 25, 2020
It is 45 dollars to get in and any food or drink you buy gets deducted from the admission fee.
Written June 25, 2020
What time do you have to be there to get on the snorkelling trips?
Written November 26, 2019
They leave from the dock often, so you can just wait in line, but if you are a decent swimmer you can just snorkel to the 2 sites, as they aren’t far. I did and found a turtle that I followed from a distance for about half an hour, so as not to harass it, which was amazing.
