We visited the Garrison during the day for a quick 5 minute stop as the final stop of our island tour. It was very quiet and we didn't get a chance to walk around much. It sounds like from other reviews race time is when you want to come here.

Our hotel was just up from the Garrison area so we spent a while walking around the area one morning. We had a lovely walk around, including the racecourse and it's 50th Anniversary of Independence Monument which was very informative. We checked out the guns, ate in a lovely café but didn't get into George Washington House unfortunately. It's a... More

Visited with friends who were staying at the same hotel as us and had a great, fun day out. Reasonably priced entry and drinks. Easy betting and a good view of the paddock before races to see your horses before they ran. Plenty of races (7-8 I think!) and lots of places to sit in the shade out of the... More

I've been to many race days at the Garrison Savannah throughout my lifetime. It is a fun experience for the whole family either around the race track or within the grandstand near the finish line.

A very interesting tour of the historic Fort led by one of the serving Barbados Defence Force officers. History dating back to 1705 to fascinate and enthral visitors. One of only two remaining commonwealth cannon on show dating from 1652 when the English civil war raised its ugly head on the island. We visited on a Barbados National Trust open... More

Heavy rain earlier on so a rather subdued start but the atmosphere soon warmed up and it became a very enjoyable afternoon!

It's not York or Ascot but it is fun. Everyone seems to have fun a chance for a flutter and to meet the locals.

We spent an afternoon watching the ponies run. Since it was our first visit we were somewhat at a loss of where to go and what to do. Fortunately, the young man in the office where you buy tickets gave us a very nice tour. There are private areas....very expensive. Overall a fantastic afternoon. There are two bar/restaurant areas at... More

We had a long walk to get here and then you mostly can just walk around the outside of buildings. We saw just as much driving by in the car. Not that photogenic.
