About
Three hotels line this beach, making it popular with tourists; you might want to avoid this place if you're not into the Spring Break college kid party scene, which tends to crowd the beach during the Easter season.

- William G31 contributionsA beautiful dystopian beach in BermudaThis beach has been described as dystopian, and that fits. It is beautiful, largely unspoilt and can be pretty much deserted. There aren't any facilities besides a portable ladies' toilet at the top of the steps...but who cares! I've walked there from Hamilton twice - a trek, but worthwhile, and you see Paget Parish along the way. A great place to clear your mind at the end of a business trip.Visited November 2023Traveled on businessWritten December 13, 2023
- sstaleyUpminster, United Kingdom962 contributionsStunning White BeachWe enjoyed a Christmas and New Year break in Bermuda, blessed with favorable weather. Experiencing Christmas at Elbow Beach, mingling with locals, made for unforgettable moments. Though the Atlantic water was chilly in December, it was bearable for those accustomed to swimming in the sea during the UK's spring and early summer. The temperature, ranging between 17 - 19 degrees, allowed us to spend the entire day at the beach, with a subtle weather change around midday. Elbow Beach, a lengthy white expanse, offers a picturesque walking trail connecting Warwick Long Beach and Horseshoe Beach for those seeking a leisurely stroll.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 21, 2024
- Laura BSudbury, Massachusetts338 contributionsMickey's Beach Bar has reopened on Elbow Beach for afternoon happy hour!Had lunch at Lido's restaurant, went down to Elbow Beach and swam for a couple hours.... then we visited Mickey's Beach Bar for happy hour, which recently re-opened! They also have changing rooms open so you can switch into dry clothes after a swim on the beach. Enjoyed a fabulous cocktail with the beautiful views!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 7, 2024
- Malakai14 contributionsAmazing!!This beach was beautiful and serene. I was there on a Saturday morning, around 8-9AM, and as you can see, it was pretty quiet. The beach does drop off into the water a little faster than at some other beaches, but it's gorgeous, and the water was in the mid 70's F in June. It was absolutely gorgeous. I didn't venture out very far into the water, but there was not a lot of rocks, etc, so this is not as good for snorkeling as say Horseshoe Beach.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 23, 2024

Beach access wrecked by a hurricane in late 2020 and they are slow to restore public access. Once we made our way down to the beach, we enjoyed watching the kite surfers. The hotel amenities are destroyed and a few lounge chairs remain. Definitely wouldn’t recommend until public access construction is completed.

A dystopian entry to what was once a 5* property (Elbow Beach Resort-now closed) is reminiscent of a now Hollywood movie set of abandoned buildings in The Night of The Living Dead. The once pristine beach is now peppered w/abandoned umbrellas and seaweed. Yes, it is much quieter than other public beaches but w/good reason. The waters are tougher than other beaches and there is certainly no facilities available to freshen up. The restaurant, Lidos remains open (not owned by the Saudi Prince) and offers beautiful views of the Atlantic from the tables. But these 5* reviews are really puzzling to me!

If you are looking for a quiet beautiful beach this may be your spot. We took the number bus from Hamilton it is a long walk from the bus to the beach but the beach was glorious. Unlike Horsebay which was very crowded, bring your own chairs( towels and a picnic as there were no facilities but for relaxing it might be exactly what your are looking for,

We were on a cruise ship staying in port for 2 nights.
We drove by Horse Shoe beach first but found it was crowded.
We got to Elbow beach around 11 AM and it was deserted. $35 taxi ride from Dockyard.
We left around 3 and there was still only a handful of people.
The sand was like flour. The water was warm (84 F) and clear. I brought snorkel gear and was able to see coral and fish.
I brought 2 chairs and an umbrella as there are no services there. At the top of the stairs there is a snack truck and a porta-potty. Bring water.
There is a beach and tennis club for members only and there is the Elbow beach hotel which never re-opened after the pandemic....it does feel deserted over by the hotel.
The problem we had was transportation back. The hitch app isn't great so I went to the top of the hill and was able to flag down a taxi in about 20 minutes. He was hesitant to take us as he thought that the bathing suits were wet. He put a rubber mat and some towels on the seat and all was good. It was a $15 cab ride to Horse shoe beach.
I was told (after the fact) to pre-arrange with your taxi driver when to pick you up for a return trip. 3 hours is plenty of time here.
I liked Elbow beach better than Horse Show Bay beach as there were less people.

This is an expansive beach with clean sand and gin clear water. There are no beach concessions so bring an umbrella as it does get hot. The beach wasn't crowded on an Aug. day. We also had a lovely 7 AM swim. Heaven

Be warned: if you stay in the main hotel, expect your room to be on par with that of an economy scale motel in the states. Our "ocean view" room (with a rate of $500 plus a night ) included a stench of mold and smoke, a leaking ceiling that saturated half of the carpet, filthy, dirty walls, mold stained tile throughout the bathroom, an absolutely disgusting ceiling vent that was dripping wet globs of dust, a broken phone and no working dial tone in the room, and outdated furniture that looked to be purchased at a garage sale. The sad part is the resort which is situated on a lovely part of island and has a great beach, was overshadowed by the disgusting room and badly kept interior sections of the hotel. Even the 2 main restaurants (Lido and the Grill) were exceptional with fantastic staff, but that didn't make up for the filthy rooms.

My wife and I just returned from Elbow Beach and we could not be happier. The service was top notch, everyone working for the hotel was so friendly. The grounds were gorgeous, as well as the pool and beach. Service at the two was also amazing. The only complaint would be the room ... not what I would expect for the price. But it was still decent. And the room service/cleaning was great! I would go back again and again!!

Which beach is more accessible from the cruise dock?
Written May 2, 2019
That beach was horrible last yr in June. It was low tide and you had to kneel down on rocks to cool off . A local told us that beach use to be a dumping ground for Bermuda. It was cleaned up for cruises
Written June 27, 2019
No. There is nothing here. You have to sit on your own towel if you thought to bring one. Very remote. Not even enough bush cover to change alongside the beautiful landscape. Too bad they haven’t thought of it yet.

There is 2 port-a-lets at the entrance to the beach!!

HI, I am visiting Bermuda for the first time in late May. Curious as to what is your #1 beach recommendation?
Written March 20, 2018
Local people says Horseshoe Bay Beach is the best. However, I love Elbow Beach more.
Written January 20, 2019
Is this beach exclusive to a resort or open to the public? We are cruising to Bermuda soon and I am researching as much as possible. Thanks!
Written August 18, 2017
It is open to the public but only certain parts. You can't use the chairs and Umbrellas if you don't stay at the resort unless you pay $100. They made us go down about 300 yards to the public area and there is no shade there at all. They made us move twice because we weren't far away enough.
Written August 20, 2017
Elbow Beach Resort states that they have a PRIVATE beach for their guests but from what I have read anyone can rent chairs/umbrellas.
Written July 25, 2017
I was able to rent chairs and umbrellas and use their beach an afternoon a few weeks ago. But i arranged it in advance. I do not know if you can just show up and rent on the spot. Chairs are for their guests first. So if full you might be turned down.

Renting minibus for a large group. Who is the most reliable ones
Written June 27, 2017
I did see a few groups of people using minibuses to get around, unfortunately I don't recall any of the vendors names, its best to look at the airport taxi and transportation vendors online and try calling ahead of time to reserve a mini bus

How do you get from dockyard to Elbow beach, taxi, bus??
Written May 19, 2017
In my opinion the most inexpensive way to travel from the dockyard to Elbow Beach is by bus. The bus stops right in front of the resort or the public beach and if you take the bus, sit on the right hand side, the views of the south side are fabulous, you can tell the bus driver where you are going and they will signal you when it is time to depart.

how far is elbow beach from Royal Dockyard? Is there a fee for the public beach?
Written March 14, 2017
Hi,
I am not sure how far the elbow beach is from the Royal Dockyard but the local bus stopped their too. The beach is a free beach but you will have to pay a fee to rent beach chairs and towels. Also there is a food and beverage building, and public bathroom also on site.
