We had a great time participating in this small event that takes place on Wednesdays evenings at Front Street, Hamilton. At first, it seemed like another tourist trap, but depending on your attitude, it can actually be a lot of fun. They close the street for the small parade and encourage people to do line dancing. The Gombeys are a lot of fun with their dancing and with their wild colorful costumes! The whole thing seems very safe and contained.

Harbor nights in Hamilton is great, to see all the local crafts, plus food and the great fresh squeezed lemonade. And don't forget to see the Gombey Dancers with their culture. We never miss the Harbor Nights . This was our fourth time to Bermuda, what a gorgeous place and hopefully we will go again next year

Harbor Night starts from 0600 pm in the evening and continues as late as 1000 pm in the front street all along Hamilton. It is a fantastic opportunity to eat, see local culture, be part of the local fervor and festivities and also do some great shopping. Just as you get off the dockyard, the place is lined up with some delectable eating joints with tables and chairs all around! I found amazing Chinese, Lebanese, Caribbean, Indian, Filipino and of course pizzas offers and the shawarma and the Chinese food was delectable! Everybody is out on the street and eating about in small groups with amazing aromas of shish kebabs and barbecues in the background. At 0700 pm the sound of drums and people rushing to get front shots of the road greet you as the parade begins and moves down the front road. It is an exciting mix of Bermudian dancers, drummers and full geared bandmen who take to the streets, very lively and energetic actually.
Further down the road a Bermudian Band lights up the atmosphere with some amazing songs and music. Extremely good! The streets are lined with shops selling different and very unique stuff. Cuban cigars, wines, art, jewelry, knick knacks, clothes and everything actually.
The last ferry leaves Hamilton for the dockyard at 1000 pm so make sure you don't miss it....quite a long walk back home!!

We had fun walking around at Harbour Night. There are vendors on the street, music playing, people dancing and food. If you are in the area, you should go!

We went to the first carnival evening of the season and it was a great experience. Situated mainly on an temporarily pedestrianised Front Street in Hamilton in the evening it had a carnival atmosphere. Street food and local produce for sale on stalls along the street. Very relaxing to stroll along and peruse the stalls and take in the atmosphere.

I live in Bermuda and yet I still enjoy going to Harbour Nights, it is always so much fun to enjoy the festive atmosphere on a Wednesday night in the summer (unless weather is not agreeable, in which case it can sometimes be cancelled so if in doubt check first). I love the street food which is a great price and get some local fish or something more spicy and Caribbean stylem followed by a locally brewed beer all make for a good evening, plus The Gombeys, the Regiment band , and some music to dance for those that get in the mood all add up to a fun evening and the chance to see local artisans work too. Definitely worth the visit!

We took the ferry over from the Dockyard expecting interesting food vendors, maybe a bargain or two, and of course the gombay dancers. We got none of that, just big noisy crowds and shops that wanted to close by 9 PM. Not worth our time, unfortunately. Others there were also disappointed.

Made the effort to attend Hamilton to enjoy the buzz made by the street vendors and entertainment. I know the city tries its best, but the sheer lack of numbers and variety of stalls just put a dampener on the night and precluded any browsing other than that of the food stalls. Even the so-called entertainment was lame.
All in all, not worth the effort to attend.

Harbour Nights has a fun feel and seems to be attended by as many locals as tourists. A key highlight are the food vendors. We stopped to chat with a couple walking their dog who were getting in line for a Vietnamese food vendor....they come every week for his food. Look for the guy with the long skewers of spiced pork. Absolutely outstanding - add any of his noodle or rice dishes as all delicious. They give a ton of food - the two kabobs and rice/noodles fed my wife, two kids and myself....all for $15! Save another night for some of the great restaurants (like Bistro J) in town and try the vendors - great food and fun to eat by the water at one of the tables that are set out.

"Harbour Nights" is a must do event in Hamilton if you're visiting Bermuda. It is only on Wednesday nights, weather permitting, and you will have fun. Front Street is the main drag in Hamilton and you're on it when you get off the ferry from the Royal Naval Dockyard.
Harbour Nights is a festive event that features a parade by the Gombey Dancers, music being spun by the local radio station Vibe 103.3, tables with artwork, crafts and various food items for sale. If you enjoy rum, be sure to try some Gosling's rum at the store on Front Street. It's made in Bermuda and at the Gosling's store folks were happily handing out rum swizzles and "Dark and Stormy" drinks to visitors. For the most part, the prices at Gosling's were either better or comparable to the duty free shop on our cruise ship. Buy what you want and they'll deliver it to the ship. Of course, you know the cruise line will make sure you don't take possession of any bottles until the evening before you depart. After all, what fun would it be if you could make your own drinks and not pay the cruise line for overpriced drinks?
Harbour Nights gets going around 7PM and runs until about 10PM. Make sure you don't miss the last ferry out. They run until 10:30PM on Wednesday nights. Harbour Nights is worth about two hours. Be there by 7PM and then you can hop the 9:30PM ferry back to the cruise ship to avoid the las minute uh-oh-I-may-not-get-on crush.
Everybody was really friendly and fun in Hamilton. Be a good visitor, support local businesses, treat everybody nice and have a great time.

Are the ferries from dockyard to Hamilton frequently full on Wed nights? Do they put extra ferries to accommodate the larger crowds from cruise ships? Thanks

We're going to be at the Dockyard in late June, 2023. Is there a Harbor Night program at Dockyard or just Hamilton?

What time were the dancers? We’re not arriving until like 8pm? Thank you

Hello,
Thank you for your question about Harbour Nights. Harbour Nights will commence on Wednesday May 6th this year and the last Harbour Nights for the season will be on Wednesday, August 26th.
The Gombey's perform at 7:30pm for 30 minutes each week. In addition to the Gombey's we often have local dance companies perform from 7:00pm to 7:30pm and bands start performances from the 8:00pm to 10:00pm at the Flagpole stage.

We’re arriving for a three-night stay beginning on September 4, and are so hoping that Harbour Nights will still be running on September 5th. Would anyone know if the festival might be extended into September, or will it end in August? Thanks very much!

We were considering an excursion with NCL to the Harbor Nights for $108 for 2 people. Now I see people just take the ferry and it looks like it's only $5 per person each way. Anyone who has taken the ferry can you tell me is it close by where the cruise ships dock at Royal Ship Yard? Was it relatively easy ?
Written August 1, 2018
Hi
Yes the ferry from dock yard to Hamilton is very easy. It departs from dock yard just a few mins walk down from where the cruise ships docking space is so just at the beginning of the pier leading to the cruise ships. That takes you straight into Hamilton main street where the harbour nights is.
I would recommend the ferry as it is quicker than driving and more reliable than busses or taxis.

Not sure if there is a precise time but around 6pm seems the most usual...

Hi there! In terms of a street festival/vendor market, no, however, The Royal Naval Dockyard is full of things to do for people of all ages. They have an official website, if you Google Dockyard Bermuda, you will find the official website. If you are visiting over a Wednesday, we do hope that you will be able to join us for Harbour Nights.
I trust you will enjoy your visit to our island.

We will be there the first week of May. Do they have this then, or is it too early?

Hi. Zip lining? Was the ziplining over the festival or somewhere else? Do they accept American $ at the shops and for the zip lining?
Written August 13, 2015
Hi Sharon. The Zip line is located at the far end of Front Street, close to a restaurant known as Bistro at The Beach during Harbour Nights. All stores accept $US cash. You can request $US cash in return, or $BMD which makes a nice souvenir and can be used on your return trip.
