- Matt SBrighton, Michigan2,273 contributionsBeautiful hidden gemThis beautiful out-of-the-way gem of a park and beach definitely was not geared towards a local attraction, so when we got here, we were definitely able to enjoy our visit. There were people here enjoying the park and the beach, but it was more of a local crowd (enjoying a late lunch, hanging on the beach). The small beach was enjoyable to walk on, and get in the shallow, calm lagoon area. On the other side of the hill area surrounding the lagoon area was an absolutely beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the Royal Navy Dockyards. While there, a privately owned catamaran sailboat pulled up to the small dock, so their occupants could enjoy a beach visit. There is some walking on a moderately steep grade down and up that is unavoidable to get down to the park and beach area, so be warned. However, at the top near the entrance before heading towards the grade, there were still gorgeous views to be had. Definitely a good place to visit if you can get there!Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten March 5, 2024

We didn’t see anyone else in the first hour. But then it got a lot busier! We started in the cove to try snorkeling and swimming. It was very peaceful there. A small beach too. But there were too many minnows for our liking! It seemed liked there were about a million ++++! We then went to the cliffs for jumping! There were multiple levels to jump from- all of them fun!!!! Then you swim over to a cave with steps. Easy to get up. The water is so blue! Definitely a highlight of the trip. There were a lot of people jumping, so you could see where to jump from and where to go. But of advice- leave wedding rings and watches at home. But if you have your rings on jump with a closed fist. A few people lost watches and I would hate for anyone to lose their rings.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 13, 2024
- Thyme8United States272 contributionsBest cliff jumping ever due to easy exit after you jumpCame here with Steve from Barefoot Charters Bermuda in a private excursion for 3 hours on the water. It was awesome! We pulled up to the cliffs right from the water. Swam over. Easy swim and steps to get to the top. Three different jump heights. Did it again and again. Probably best cliff jumping we have done (and we travel a lot!) due to the easy out. The limestone steps and caves make it so simple to get out of the water, and that is often not true with cliff jumping. Saw young kids here with their parents. Bring water shoes. The steps can be a little rough and that foot protection will help you enjoy it more.Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 22, 2024

There are hints to when this was a military installation. Tunnels 160 years old and a cave system with gun ports. Lots of land and 2 beaches. One bigger and protected with no waves and if you hike a tiny isolated beach. Tennis court on the side and a hidden picnic table overlooking the site under trees. No facilities and located in a residential area. So, bring water and an empty bladder. Great views. Stay away from the collapsing community center. People "hang" out back there.

This is a fantastic little park! The beach is little but very pretty and almost fully protected so good for young kids if you have those - and otherwise just nice calm water. Definitely take about a 1/2 hour to hike around the perimeter, especially on the right hand side upon entering. Great views and pretty flora. There are some bugs and spiderwebs so just keep an eye out for that.
On the far left side, we stumbled across some people cliff diving and just had to partake! This was awesome! There are 3 different levels, about 10 ft, 15-20 ft and 30-35 ft so you can build up your courage! Exiting is awesome too - you swim into a cave and then climb out through the rocks! I'd recommend wearing some water shoes since the rocks are a little sharp and there is some broken glass up top. We didn't have them and had no issues, but I would have felt a little more comfortable with them on!
Note - there are no bathrooms or any other facilities at this park.

Tucked away on the north shore just a 10 minute bus ride from Hamilton is this quiet gem. At the entrance you face large lawns to both sides and green open space. As you walk down the road toward the shore the ocean opens up to you and soon you see all of the various cliffs of varying heights attracting young and old to test their limits. The park has an excellent swim cove of very calm waters and small beach that is primo for snorkeling or simply floating around. Brink a floatee or such to allow for more water exploration. This was one of our favorite water spots in all of Bermuda.

Admiralty House Park is really not a tourist facility. It's for locals or the more adventurous who want to get off the beaten path.
If that appeals, take a bus out to Spanish Point, and ask the driver to let you off at Admiralty. I think that's bus #4. Take bathing suit, and sneakers. There is a little cove with a dock and a secluded beach.
SPECIAL EVENT - That dock, In the spring and summer (May-Oct) is the perfect place to see "glow worms" about 45 minutes after sunset, on night of the full moon and the first few days after. Frequently and humorously billed as "Bermuda's only fully nude sex show, with lighting and special effects", the glow worms have a reproduction cycle that begins with dramatic display of light and dance. You can watch the excitement! Take a flashlight to help you up the hill on the way home. Probably best to have a local host, or a taxi on "tour rate" take you to the spot and back to your hotel after. This natural phenomena and the walk to and from the dock will probably take two hours. Despite the humour - kids love this. It's a nature activity for kids that is fun for adults too. You can also have a night time swim on the beach - in the midst - of the show around you. This is in the "very cool" category.
Apart from that show, Admiralty Park has some caves, some swimming, and a secret passage or two to discover. Again, highly recommended for adventure explorers.
Admiralty Park is also a popular location for cliff diving. If that's your thing, do it, but please exercise EXTREME caution. There have been deaths and paralysis injuries. Sometimes people miss the deep spot. Enough said?
I learned to SCUBA in Clarence Cove (the swimming spot at the dock) with the Bermuda Sub Aqua Club. They meet Wednesday evenings at 7pm in a little building on the grounds. Modestly priced beer, and dinner for $10, great spot for visiting SCUBA enthusiasts to get the inside scoop on what dives are best, which operators know their stuff. HIGHLY recommended. If your from the UK, you might be interested to know that in the 1980s and 90s, it was the largest British Sub Aqua Club in the world, outside of the UK. At one time there were two hundred or more members.
if you're not a diver, don't worry. Admiralty Park has something for everyone. For those who enjoy a more serene experience, there is a wooded shoreline with footpaths. Lovely for a picnic or even a walk. See the north shore of Bermuda like it might have been generations ago.
A nice park. Free form fun and adventure.

We've cruised to Bermuda 7 times since we began cruising 15 years ago. Since cruising from New York typically allows 2 1/2 days in country, we try to do something different in each trip (in addition to Horseshoe Bay and the Dockyard shopping).
This year, while on the Celebrity Summit for the 3rd time, we chose Admiralty House Park! At first, it seemed a great challenge as we had a very diversely aged group of 13 people ranging from 3 - 75+ years of age.
Firstly, we contacted a local transportation acquaintance (you might know him as Top Gun, or JR the one and only, or simply Jerome!) who transported all of us via mini-bus from the Dockyard to Admiralty House Park. He even stopped at a local grocery to allow us to purchase lunch foods and snacks and borrowed a cooler so that we could keep our food on ice during our stay. The park has NO amenities, except for a porta potty. JR charged us $10 USD/ person each way and we were happy to pay a little extra in tipping.
The ride took about 40 minutes each way, but it was comfortable. Upon arriving at the park, the main path/ road is a steep decline that ends at 2 moon-shaped coves and a stone pier. On this day. Wednesday, there were several groups of local children and their counselors enjoying the water and grounds. All were excellently well-behaved and quite friendly!
The sun was blazing and there was little shade except under the row of trees surrounding the grounds. There are numerous paths to explore, but we didn't take advantage of those. We swam in the cove, jumped from the concrete pier, and generally enjoyed the atmosphere. We noted a sea turtle in the cove, numerous stripers, and even witnessed a feeding frenzy as some larger fish hunted the stripers around us!
Our teens discovered the cliffs around the park in short order and most of our family took advantage of the variety of jumps which ranged from 10 - 50 feet in height just over the ridge from the cove. It seemed very safe and there were injuries among our party. The local children and teens provided a lot of exciting entertainment with their daring leaps and we learned quite a bit from them as well! Interestingly, we could see our cruise ship from the cliffs overlooking the cove!
Part of the fun was navigating the caves to return to the top of the cliff! And there were more cliffs on the far side of the cove as well!
We spent about 3 1/2 hours at the park and JR picked us up right on schedule to take us back to the Dockyard.
Transportation would have been quicker if we'd taken the ferry to Hamilton, then a cab to the park, however, fitting all of us would have been a challenge and it would have cost about the same overall.
I gave this location a 4 star based on its lack of convenience and physically challenging hills. But I would highly recommend this location to all with younger adults and older kids! Have a great time exploring.

Hi there. I have mobility issues, but would love to watch others cliff jump. Do you have to walk down to see or can you see enough from where a taxi would drop you? I just can’t do a sloped path.
Written June 12, 2019
From the parking area and where a taxi would drop you off it's a decent walk downhill. It's not very long but the road is a bit steep from what I remember.
Written June 17, 2019
I've seen people jump in spots but as usual check the water out first by swimming there. Never risk anything or go head first
Written March 28, 2019
How far is the walk from where you are dropped off by bus/taxi or can park a scooter? Also, is the path to the cliff clearly marked or do you have to do some searching? Thank You!
Written July 7, 2018
It's a short walk to the cliffs but it's pretty steep. Everything is clearly marked and easy to find.

We have a 12 good swimmer and want to cliff dive is there where we can do it? Do we need a guide? We arrive from a cruise are the busses run to here? Any tips to plan this day is greatly appreciated
Written July 6, 2018
I would not recommend admiralty park for cliff diving with a child. Yes, the locals do it, and I have done it as an adult, but would not let my 12 year old son do it. It is a very high jump, and especially for a boy, he would need to be careful about how he jumps to avoid pain in certain areas. Instead, I would recommend the smaller cliff jump at Blue Hole Park. You can take bus 8 from Hamilton and get off at Grotto Bay Resort. Then walk across the street to the entrance to Blue Hole. From there, follow the path for a while until you see a meadow in front of you and the path curves to the left. When you get to the next meadow, head to your right. You will see a dock. If you go up into the woods for a bit, you will see a cliff on your left. This is an easy high jump into Blue Hole. It is very safe and is what I would let my own 12 year old son do. He can swim to the dock or the shore to get out. Bonus: it's also a great place to see some caves (just please make sure you don't wear sunscreen while in cave water or kick up sediment - to protect cave life.)

Hi,
We plan on visiting Bermuda next year for about 4 days. Is this enough time/ What do you recommend for a family with 12 year old and older teens/young adults? Can we be safe just renting bikes (not mopeds)....is the whole island do able on a regular bike?
Diana
Written December 29, 2017
Hi Diana, the island is doable and enjoyable in 4-5 days and there is plenty of things do that are low cost and no cost; the island is very safe overall, however for travelling around the island on bicycles or walking is not recommended as the roads are narrow and jaggid and many roads do not have sidewalks or pathways. The bus system is decent and most economical for a family or group. Bus drivers and cab drivers are very friendly and helpful. Also, look up "Twizzy cars in Bermuda" as this may be a fun and cute way to get around the island for a day, and is an alternative to mopeds or car rentals as travellers (unless you hold an actual Bermuda drivers license) are prohibited from renting cars, and mopeds are only good for people that are experienced really, and this is for everyone's safety. A few things to look into and plan on doing that cost $: Jet-Skiing (there is an early bird morning special, and group rates so look into this ahead of time and make reservations - $115/person (Somerset Watersports is the best one)), Crystal Caves - about $22/person for admission. Low cost is the Royal Naval Dockyard (#7 and #8 buses go out here frequently but always ask the bus driver when you get on the bus to make sure) for walking around seeing the old naval base and picking up souviners. At the Dockyard, there is glassblowing, swimming with dolphins ($$$$) and restaurants and cafes at the Dockyard as well. Other low to no cost is to pack swimming goggles and snorkel sets, maybe watershoes for everyone (just go to Walmart) and go snorkeling as there are plenty of shipwrecks and coral reefs to swim around and enjoy for a day at the beach. You have to visit Admiralty House, which is a beach and cliff jumping - amazing and the teens/pre-teens and you will love it here. Buses go out here to Admiralty House but it is in Spanish Point and bus schedules are reduced to this part of the island as it is not as busy. Downtown Hamilton is fun to walk around and see the shops. Devils Isle is a nice cafe with nice eats and yummy fresh iced teas, The Pickled Onion is a great restaurant on Front Street with an outdoor second floor patio that looks over the water, good food, ok prices and reallllyyyy nice to sit out there to eat and enjoy the views of the harbour, boats, ocean, and cars and people zipping by on Front Street. Hope this helps :)

Me again. How do you get from Clarence cover to deep bay beach? Any tips?
Written September 20, 2017
Any chance of getting here with a wheelchair?
Written February 18, 2017
Yes.... with a proviso - There is a 400 yard downhill cement path in mediocre condition. By my recollection you could wheel down to the dock. You would need to be a wheelchair athlete of substance, brave on the way down and cardiovascular achiever on the way home. Alternatively you would want a buddy who could push you up hill maybe rising 150 ft in 400 or so yards. There is a small beach and a dock. If you have some mobility maybe you could jump off the dock, swim up to the beach and get a helper to get you settled back in the chair.
I wouldn't recommend this for elderly or severely disabled. It would be a significant effort and an adventure.
I identify with this in some way, I spent 2 yrs or so on crutches. I am relatively hearty, and didn't go to Admiralty Park. I did jump into pools and walk around with my frame on. So... take above as a possible. have a helper make the walk first and give you advice.
There are two paths. One has stairs that maybe tou can not avoid. The other is an old roadway with no stairs but quite broken up concrete. I would take the old road. It is off of the parking lot. The stairs are behind the Bermuda Sub Aqua Club building. The club never bothered with a fitness test. If you carried your dive kit up and down the stairs, you were fit.
I say all this by way of warning, or encouragement if you really want an adventure.

One review stated to take a ferry straight from the cruise ship dock. Does the ferry take you straight to Admiralty? Does the ferry return hourly or for you if requested? We have a group of nine, can we ride together? Any other info would be wonderful!
