The Bermuda National Trust Museum is quite a small museum situated in the center of St George. It has a number of artifacts, pictures and lots of information on the history of the islands, in particular the part it played in the American Civil War as a key staging point for providing supplies to parties in the conflict.As members of the UK National Trust, we received free entry to the museum.…

If you’re looking to purchase something other than beach clothes or jewelry in Bermuda, this is really one of the few places you can do it and at reasonable prices to boot. I usually wait and shop around but other than this, there are really very few places to go. The staff can also tell you which historic houses to visit, including Tucker House, which is nearby, and Verdmont, which is a little far away. The upstairs museum is due for an update and talks primarily about Bermuda’s involvement in the American Civil War. This is a touch sugarcoated considering that this led to a major diplomatic crisis between the US and Britain in which the US wanted the Brits to compensate them millions of dollars for the negative impact of the British blockade running.…
