Local's turned us on to this wonderful little piece of heaven! You do have to walk but its worth every moment. Highly recommend going if your looking for off the beaten path. Awesome snorkeling and swimming a short walk from Clearwater Beach snorkel see turtles or you can use the facilities Coopers doesn't have any. Don't forget to grab a fish sandwich from Gombeys.

We explored Clearwater, Long Beach, and Well Bay Beach. Stunning, clear warm water, with incredible palm forest and rock formations the farther up the park you go. Loved Well Bay in particular, just enough off the beaten path that we had this spectacular beach all.to.ourselves!!!
Warning, sunscreen re-apply! You forget how much stronger the sun is when it reflects off the water!

My husband and I stayed for a week in St. George in late October. We took the number 6 bus around 9:20am and told the driver we wanted to get off at Clearwater Beach. The bus doesn’t go all the way to the beach, there is a bit of a walk, but it’s not a difficult walk. (There is also a sightseeing bus that goes from the visitor’s center in St. George’s to Clearwater- $12 round trip for those that want less of a walk). The bus driver was very helpful and made sure we got off at the correct stop.
The first beach you see when you pass the runway is Clearwater. It was long, beautiful and deserted. We walked along the beach and walked past Gumbey’s restaurant and bar. It was too early to go in, so we just continued on our walk. The next beach you come across is Turtle Beach. Again, empty! We sat here for awhile. It was a bit windy and there were some waves, so unfortunately we didn’t see any signs of turtles.
After this beach, you will reach the gate for the Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve. It is located on a former NASA tracking station. Just continue walking down the road. You will see beaches on either side (we did come across some people on these beaches). At the end of the road is an observation tower and some spectacular rock formations. We stopped at one of the beaches on the Castle Harbour side and my husband did some snorkeling.
The scenery and the beaches are lovely and amazingly empty!
We left in time to catch the 12:40 bus back to St. George’s.
Highly recommend! If it wasn't our last day in Bermuda, we would have definitely stayed longer.

We went here on our last day and thought it was one of the prettier areas of an already beautiful island. It's kind of out of the way whether you take a bus, taxi, or drive yourself but worth the effort. There are several different and well maintained beaches (Clearwater Beach, Turtle Bay, etc.) in the reserve so we walked along the hiking trails and roadway and visited each beach along the way. At the end of the trails you're on top of some rocks with great views of the the water surrounding you on three sides. Each beach was unique, but none were crowded and all were clean. At the beginning of the reserve there is a bar/restaurant called Gomby's and this was a great place to relax and have a couple island drinks as you watched the sunset. There were a few more people here because of the restaurant and bar, but still not crowded and most seemed like locals. We did see a few sea turtles in this area as well. There is also a bus stop right across the road from Gombey's and an area to change and use the restroom between the stop and the beach. Once again, we recommend finding a way to stop here during your visit to Bermuda. One of our favorites.

Cooper’s island was the best part of our trip to Bermuda. The beaches were stunning and there are barely any people there! In my opinion the water was prettier than horseshoe bay, but sand not as pink.
When you arrive, keep walking past the beaches and bar until you reach a gate. Go past the gate (looks as though it is closed but it’s not) and keep walking until you reach the lookout tower. Great views and plenty of spots to swim. We noticed several people stopped at clearwater beach as you first enter, but few kept walking to the secluded beaches in back of the nature reserve. Definitely something to check out to see Bermuda’s natural beauty without the crowds!

By far the best place we visited in Bermuda. What a hidden gem! Spent four hours exploring this reserve and took over 500 photos. Absolutely no words to describe the beauty of this place. DO NOT MISS IT, if you can only do one thing in Bermuda I would recommend this place!

We met and chatted with a couple of locals during our trip and they both told us (on separate occasions) to make sure we come to Cooper's Island. On our last day in Bermuda, we took the 6 bus a short ride from St. George. There are signs when you get off the bus pointing you to Turtle Bay and hiking trails. We decided to walk one of the trails which eventually led us to Cooper's Island road. We wound up on Long Bay Beach. We had the entire beach to ourselves. Some people came and went to the lookout tower but we stayed the entire time. The water wasn't rough and it was the most beautiful shade of turquoise we ever saw. The sand was soft as powder and was so clean. It's such a beautiful secret beach; I say secret because I believe most people pass it up for Turtle Bay and Clearwater which has amenities. This was our favorite part of the trip to have an entire beach to ourselves on our last day.

This was well worth the walk since the bus driver wouldnt go down to Clearwater Beach so we got off as close as we could and walked the rest. We had 5 beaches to ourselves in paradise! We snorkelled, walked paths, climbed the spiral staircase and stayed on the overlook being amazed at the beauty of the area. We literally only saw 2 other people the 6 hours we hung around there. A very tranquil and private area worth the adventure!

Awesome awesome experience! Im eight months pregnant and was able to handle the walking and sight seeing on the reserve. It is beautiful. Completely quiet secluded and safe. Go on your own you dont need a tour guide. You can grab the #10 or 11 bus from hamilton and enjoy the view.get tickets from the tickets station in hamilton. Let the bus driver know you want to go to st.davids theyll let you know when you have to take the #6 bus. Once you board the #6 let that bus driver know you want to go to clearwater beach. They might not drop you off at the actual beach but its just a 10m walk. Once there walk the end and youll see the reserve. It is closed to automobiles and bikes. It looks closed but it isnt its open to the public just pass on through. There is also a restaurant on the beach if youd like to grab a bite before you go in the reserve. The reserve is secluded, has more smaller beaches and has white and pink sand. It also has a tower to climb where you can get some cool pics. There wont be much people so its a nice experience. All in all a very nice and inexpensive way to spend your day. You can also go to st.davids lighthouse on the same day. The buses are $5 for 14 zone tickets. Youll need 2 one to go and one to come back. Ask for transfers once on the bus. Pack some water, snacks and you can buy food at the beach.

Excellent, quiet, and beautiful. Enjoyed this are more than Horseshoe bay. We swam at each beach area as well as snorkeled and saw more fish than we did on our snorkel tour. We were lucky enough to sea 5 sea turtles while we were snorkeling!

I'll be visiting Bermuda in July and I'm trying to find the beach with the pinkest sands...how pink is the sand on the beach here? Some pictures make it look really pink while others make it seem like it's barely pink at all. Just trying to maximize the little time I have there!!

Warwick, Long Bay Beach has the pinkest sand...lots of small, broken pieces of coral make it beautiful!

Is there a lot of walking. I can't walk too far. Someone suggested going to coopers island
Written April 18, 2017
You can take the ferry to St. George, then go to the visitors center in St. George and ask them about the shuttle to Coopers Island. There are also taxi's nearby the visitors center that could take you. Or from St. George you could take the public bus that will get you near Coopers Island, you would need to walk about 15 minutes from the bus stop.

how far is this from Royal Naval Dockyard?
Written September 10, 2016
It is about as far away as you can get. It is on the opposite end by St. George's but if you took a ferry from the dockyards to St. George's it wouldn't be too bad.
