I rented the Donut boat for a 2 hour session while visiting Aruba. The entire process was extremely smooth and professional. I was greeted at the beach, on time with the donut boat and given a quick overview of how it operates. Anyone familiar with small 5hp fishing boat motors used for trolling while fishing will be completely comfortable operating this. Since the donut boat is circular, it has a tendency to want to move in circular directions, especially with the wind blowing, so I found that you have to fight it quite a bit to keep it going straight, especially if the water is moving from waves and wind.
It took about 30 min to reach our snorkeling destination, and someone from Octopus follows at a safe distance for the entire duration of your booking, to ensure your safety. It was nice knowing he was there in a much larger boat just in case we needed anything. It still felt private, but there if we needed him.
The snorkeling spot was nice, we saw several fish and it's a spot where other charters go also for snorkeling. The little donut boat is super comfortable and fun to be on. The kids loved it, and it has a ladder and snorkeling gear for easy entry and exit to the boat. Also had a bluetooth speaker so we could jam out to Frozen 2 soundtrack while we drank champagne and snorkled.
All in all it was worth the money for fun and a neat thing to do, just be prepared to spend roughly half your time in transit with this tiny motor moving pretty slow, and even slower if there's wind and waves. I'd do it again if I visited, but only if it was calm and we had more time to check out a few other spots.
