- George M50 contributionsgreat way to move around if you don't want to rent a cartook a few buses in the week we were there. they were clean, looked relatively newer and driving was very calm.....if you have been to cancun and happened to take the local bus there, you will know what I mean....central depot is right downtown so its very convenient to explore the shops while staying out at the resort areas. Forgot what we paid, but it was not expensive at all and they accept US dollars so you don't even have to convert currency if you don't want to. Generally in Aruba you can get by with using credit cards or small US bills pretty much anywhere you go. You may get change in the local currency, which of course is always "in the ballpark" but unless you are really picky and have to bring out the calculator and count to the penny each time, you can use US dollars with no issues.Visited October 2019Written February 12, 2020
- Sightsee15131012 contributionsArubusThe Arubus was so easy to use. The bus schedule can be confusing at first but look at it again. The bus only runs on the main thru fare. One way is $2.60 and can be paid in cash on the bus. We purchased round trip fare cards from a store at our resort for $5. Each time we got on the bus we confirmed with the driver where we were going--each driver was so accommodating and would tell us what stop to get off at. It was an economical way to get around.Visited August 2020Written August 26, 2020
- vema2017Luxembourg City, Luxembourg21 contributionsArubus is greatTo explore the island, nothing better than Arubus. As Aruba is a very small island, you do not need to rent a car. Take Arubus instead and share your way with very friendly people and bus drivers who turns up the radio with wonderful caribbean music. To make it easy, provide yourselves with Arubuscard to buy at different places. You can get a card for 10 USD and explore the island on one day with as much rides as you like.Visited January 2020Written February 11, 2020
- Scott J5 contributionsNot great, basically stinks. It was $10 for a full day pass, per person. We were able to ride it ONCE. From the Renaissance, we took route 10 up to Eagle beach, walked over to the Butterfly farm, and the bus never arrived so we took a $12 cab to the Aloe Vera factory. Walked to another bus stop from there, but AGAIN the bus never showed. We waited an HOUR before having to call another cab and spend another $12. For a bus that was supposed to arrive every 15 minutes, I'd say there is serious opportunity for improvement.Visited May 2021Written May 17, 2021

Not exactly a great way to get customers. He wasn't going to since the driver said he would wait. So glad he did cause we got about 100 feet from the bus and it took off. - Gina OughtonRichmond, Virginia7 contributionsArubus Pros and ConsI gave this a poor rating due to the fact that you really had to learn as you went along and ask a lot of questions in order to figure out the confusing bus times and schedules. I grew up in a major city so I am used to pubic transportation running semi smoothly, on time, and with a lot of information to assist you where ever you need to go. The big pro for riding the bus is, of course, the cost savings, so my husband and I decided before our trip that we would use the bus and buy the re-loadable cards when we got there. At the airport, there was absolutely no information about bus routes, so we asked the information desk and they directed us to another location. Weststraat 13 booth, bus station, Oranjestad (it is a little white hut). We told our cab driver to take us there first before checking in at our hotel, so we could purchase the cards since there are very few places to purchase them and nobody really had any concrete information to provide us. Purchase is cash only, $10 per person, per day. Use one card for one day only, and that card will expire at the end of the day, then you must use the next card you purchased for the next day, etc... You can't haul your luggage on the bus from your hotel to the airport, so make sure you don't pay for a card on your last day.. You will need to take a cab back to the airport. You can pay with cash instead of using the card if you choose. The website states the fare is $2.30 one way per person, and try to have exact change. I'm not sure if the fare amount is stated correctly online because I also heard that the fare costs $2.60. For bus schedules (I uses this term very loosely), go to visitaruba.com, on the browser bar, top right, "Getting Around", the drop down menu will have bus schedules. This will give you a guesstimate of when the bus will be driving by. Depending where you are on the island, the bus stops are not clearly marked (for example, the northwestern side of the island where I stayed), but if you see a bus coming, put your hand up and wave. They will stop for you. Let the driver know where you want to go when you get on, and he will announce the stop as you are approaching. There are no maps of the routes handy, so I took pictures at one of the bus stops when I was in Eagle Beach. I have included those for reference. My husband and I stayed in Malmok, just north of the high rise are (Palm Beach). The buses do not run as frequently in Malmok/Arashi Beach. If you are coming from the high rise area, the bus does NOT go beyond the Marriott Hotel after 7:00pm which we were not aware of because there is not any information posted. The bus driver was nice and dropped us off at our hotel that night. Also, be alert when the bus is approaching. They drive very fast and sometimes look like they might run you over at the bus stop when they are "coming in hot" as me and my husband would joke throughout the week. Once you are on the bus, you get to where you need to be very quickly. When exiting the bus, be sure to exit at the rear of the bus, not the front. The bus is not handicap friendly and had a pretty large last step to hop down off of the bus. I was not in Aruba on a Sunday, but on the website, it looks like they posted a different schedule, so the bus might not run as frequently on Sundays. One last tip, you can take the bus to a really great supermarket called Superfoods. There aren't a lot of supermarkets around the island. You can take the bus to Eagle Beach, in front of the Amsterdam Hotel, and walk one block over to the Superfoods. The convenience stores in the area are really expensive, so I recommend a trip to this store. It is newer, clean, has a bakery, and it also has an alcohol store inside (if you didn't purchase your alcohol duty free at the airport). At the airport, you can only get on bottle per person duty free. Oh, and the water in Aruba is excellent. No need to worry about having bottled water on hand. I hope this helps anyone considering riding the bus in ArubaVisited October 2019Written October 21, 2019

My wife and I just returned from 9 Day Southern Caribbean Cruise on Royal Caribbean. Stopped in Aruba on January 21, 2019. My intention was to visit as many beaches as possible using public transportation. The Arubus koisk was just a short distance from the cruise port, although it seems to be oddly located and little difficult to find. We purchased the $10 day passes and jumped on the 10B route bus out to Arashi Beach and the California Lighthouse on the northwest corner of the island. We didn't bother walking up to the lighthouse as it can be viewed well from the beach. Went for a swim and short walk, then grabbed another bus heading south to Hadacurari Beach (this is not a normal stop for the bus, but the driver made a stop just for us!). Again a swim and then a walk down to Palm Beach (short walk - the two beaches are connected, just the name changes). Palm beach was crazy crowded for a Monday morning, so we didn't stay long. Went looking for another bus south and this is where we found out that they will just drive by (we tried waving them down) if you are not standing at a designated bus stop. You have to stand at one of the yellow BUSHALTE signs. Luckily, there are many of them all along the main road. After standing in the correct spot, we took another bus to Eagle Beach. Of the 4 beaches this is the nicest in my opinion. Good facilities, gorgeous sand and water. We spent quite a bit of time here. Unfortunately, too much time because when we took a bus back to the terminal in Oranjestad we had planned to go out to Baby Beach on the southeast corner of the island, but it was around 3:00 in the afternoon and we were told that there was only one more bus running out to San Nicolas and back, so if we went out to Baby Beach there would be no bus back to Oranjestad. In hindsight, we should have started the day with Baby Beach because the buses to the beaches up and down the west coast run well into the night. Oh well, we'll get out there next time. In summary the "beach hopping" experience was fun (we even got tied up with another couple doing the same thing!) and I would recommend it as a very inexpensive way to see the Aruba beaches.

Way cheaper than Uber or taxis. Clean air-conditioned buses with pleasant drivers. Service between Oranjestad and the high rise district was more timely(every 1/2 hour) than from San Nichol to Oranjestad. For the best rate get a re-chargeable pass AT THE AIRPORT(price varies based on # of days paid for). It is the only station that sells them, though you can get them recharged almost anywhere. Unlimited stop day pass is $10, single round trip $5, single ride $2.60 EXACT CHANGE only. No change is given back.

Hi, I need to go from Eagle Beach to San Nicholas area and I will have a small suitcase (carry-on size). I know I need to transfer in Oranjestad and I feel OK about negotiating the transfer...I am just not sure about the luggage. I know I have to lift it over the turnstyle and I am OK with that. I could take a taxi but would rather spend the money on food (lol). I also tend to meet interesting people on public transportation.

Hola,

I would suggest taking Line 8 from Rennaisance Aruba Resort and Casino. There is an Arubus Bus stop outside Queen Beatrix airport. Hope this information is helpful.
