- DSBPlymouth, Massachusetts3 contributionsNature preserve good for small childrenThe Butterfly Farm is a wonderful place nurturing butterflies of all species. Young children can hold them or let them land on them. It takes a short time to walk through the farm and a free guided your helps everyone learn the whole process of becoming a butterfly.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 24, 2024
- Vanessa MIthaca, New York144 contributionsFun and beautiful, but small and overpricedWe took my 3 year old toddler here for something to do during the day and it was fun! The staff were friendly and the butterflies and greenery were beautiful! I am only giving 4 stars because it is absolutely not worth $19 a person. It takes about 15 minutes to walk through (you can do a tour but it was way too hot for us to do that) and would be more appropriately priced at around $10. You do get a pass to come back another day of your trip, but we didn't utilize this. We got smoothies at the cafe area and they were delicious.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 12, 2024

They even offer a senior discount & free re-entry for the remainder of your trip. You might get lucky & have one of these delightful creatures land on you!Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 18, 2024

We went in the morning and enjoyed to learn about butterflies while they were fly around us. I bought some gifts for friends at the end. - Lucas LehCoronel Du Graty, Argentina417 contributionsAmazingVery nice place, but I would make a larger cage (or another cage to house more species). Although admission is paid, there is a discount on the second day, and it includes a guide in Spanish or English that explains the process of butterflies and moths. I recommend visiting during the morning, which is when the butterflies are most active and you can see them flying and even landing on you (do not grab them).Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 29, 2024
- momPenwortham303 contributionsPerfect settingMy husband wasn’t too keen to visit here but I got my way 😉. Went early for 9am and let’s say he was very impressed. As he has just turned 60 he got a “senior pass” much to his amusement. The guide “Steven” was amazing. He was so comical, engaging and very knowledgeable. My day started with a beautiful butterfly landing on me and not for leaving. As we had just been told butterflies are Angels from loved ones just passed it meant so much to me ❤️. The setting is just so peaceful and no rush to leave. We honestly walked from there so happy.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2024
- Gina C7 contributionsBeautiful experience! This was our second trip to the Butterfly farm - we love it! The talk is very educational and they show you all the different stages of the butterfly. I love watching the different butterflies, we even had some land on us. They also have a great little gift shop! I would recommend bringing water with you - it gets quite hot in there!Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 12, 2024
- TravelerWNYNew Jersey62 contributionsNice and short/chill activityMy daughter and I really enjoyed going to the butterfly farm. Took us about 1 to 2 hours to walk around the gardens and listen to the guide inform us about the reproductive cycle. There were a couple of large moths there as well. That were really cool to look at.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 18, 2024

Walked to the Butterfly Farm from the Holiday Inn, about a mile, it was a nice walk. When you enter you enter through the gift shop which has some really nice and unique butterfly themed items. The entry fee is $16 USD per adult (children and seniors are discounted). The butterfly area is well
Maintained, has Koi ponds and of course lots of butterflies flying around. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and even though it was very hot and humid he was willing to take his time with the guests. We had an awesome time and then rounded out our visit with a couple of hibiscus iced teas from the cafe. The tickets are issued to allow you to come back during your stay for free, which is pretty cool. If you like butterflies this is a must see.

We really enjoyed our visit here. Very zen type atmosphere. Had a guided tour and our guide was quite knowledgeable and passionate. We learned many things we did not know about butterflies and moths. Definitely worth checking out. To do it properly you need to spend at least 1-2 hours there. It’s very small but lots of action. Only disappointment is that your admission gives you unlimited return access for your admission price but only for 4 weeks after your initial visit. We are here for 5 months and we were hoping to be able to use the return pass for our entire stay. Oh well it’s still a good deal.

Really enjoyed this. Went as a cruise shore excursion, so didn't expect much especially considering it's located in the heart of a very "big hotel" area. But it's small and charming, our guide Joshua was great -- amazingly knowledgeable and able to communicate what he knew so everyone could understand, science in a fun and entertaining way. This was well worth a visit!

I had heard so many good things about the Aruba Butterfly Farm that is was a “must see” on my list. I arrived early, dressed in bright colors as recommended, and while I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a butterfly land on me, I was able to video butterflies in flight, eating their fruit and even one hatching from it’s chrysalis!
There is a gentle stream running through the butterfly farm with benches to sit and enjoy the wonderful sense of serenity. I believe they also offer meditation sessions (I think I saw a sign to that effect). The cost of entry is $16 ($13 for seniors) and that entitles you to return for the duration of your vacation. They have very unique souvenirs and these profits together with entry fees help sustain this lovely establishment.
I joined a guided tour lead by Joshua who has a wealth of knowledge not only about the butterflies but about the island of Aruba, having been born and raised there. I may have enjoyed our lengthy conversation almost as much as the display of butterfly activity!
If you appreciate nature and would enjoy a break from vacation craziness, I would definitely recommend adding this to your “to do” list. It is located almost directly across from the Riu Palace Antillas in the Palm Beach area.

We really enjoyed this serene place. So many many beautiful butterflies along with insightful information made this very special. We also loved the stories of the budgies and the cat on the premises. This place is a beautiful oasis of waterfalls and ponds. M Reeck

Wow, this place was beyond my expectations! We just decided to walk over from our hotel on a whim. We figure for $16 it was a neat way to spend our morning. What I was not expecting we an Instagramming paradise, one of the most informative tours on the island OR the cutes cafe we’ve seen thus far!
I highly recommend visiting. Bring your camera! They have a cute little swing outside and a butterfly wings mural for selfies, plus the waterfall with a bridge.
Friends over 21: get the boozy freeze-y pop from the cafe. Friends of all ages: get a triple fudge brownie from the cafe… SO GOOD!
Pro Tip: Go early in your trip and you can get an unlimited return pass to your ticket (no additional fee) so you can come back again! Great for families since it’s pretty magical for little kids.

The Butterfly Farm is small and nicely laid out with a variety of busy butterflies to see. I recommend taking the tour to learn something new about the life cycle and unique behaviors of butterflies. Our guide was a butterfly expert, and we were fortunate to see a butterfly lay her eggs! The admission is a little expensive for the size.

Me and my husband went to the butterfly farm for the first time on our honeymoon!! We didn’t know what to really expect but we were so blown away by our experience! Our tour guide “little Johnny” was very information and really receptive to any questions we had!!
The butterfly farm was so beautiful and you can tell that the staff works their butts off to make it look this way and treat the butterflies with the utmost respect!
We will definitely be back!! 😊😊

What a lovely, relaxing, and moving experience visiting the Butterfly Farm was. In one week, I went twice, once to see what it was about -- and listen to a short talk on butterflies (the tour of about 20 minutes) and once again at the crack of dawn (7 a.m.) to see butterflies emerge from their chrysalises.
There is a little coffee and drink shop, and inside where you pay the $16 for the visit (so worth it and it covers return visits while you are in Aruba) is also a little shop of butterfly things that you don't find anywhere else. Inside the gardens are native plants and flowers, a koi fish pond, benches, little "shelters" holding chrysalises, another fish pond, and a thousand butterflies. Two pretty blue and white parakeets also make their home there.
Returning for the emerging butterflies in the morning was so worth it, too. The owner, Tony, is a scientist and speaks rapidly and comprehensively about so many thing I never knew about that were fascinating. Even the children listened with rapt attention.
I can't wait to return and bring my 6 year old granddaughter. She would be delighted.

A great destination for lovers of flora and fauna. Very knowledge “tour guides” start off by describing some basic biology and the life cycle of butterflies, and then you are able to wander about the enclosure at your leisure. One butterfly landed on us! Very cute gift shop and cafe - recommend the homemade lemonade to cool down. Awesome additional features: huge variety of plants within the enclosure, a resident parakeet named “Dorito,” and small pond with Koi fish!

HI, Is it far from the Oceania Condos and do we have to take a taxi or can we catch a bus?
Thanks in advance!
Written June 25, 2024
I believe it's about a 35 minute walk but you can catch a bus.
I would recommend visiting in the morning when the butterflies are more lively.

Hi,
Exactly how far is it from the cruise port to the butterfly farm?
Written August 21, 2023
Take a taxi and it will be reasonable to make it to the butterfly garden and back to your cruise in a good time frame.

Are there any tours of the island that include the Butterfly Farm?
Written January 16, 2021
I am not sure about tours going in there..may be some little ones do.
SinceThe Butterfly Farm and the island itself are quite small, if you have a car or 4x4, it is so easy to just stop by there an spend may be an hour max to get to see it.
We were not sure how to get there and didn’t have a connection, so we just downloaded Google Maps offline for Aruba and used the navigation like that everywhere.

Admission is $16, but you can revisit for the whole time you
are in Aruba. They ask what your last day there is and mark your admission ticket. They also have one day that is early morning yoga (6:30 am) in among the butterflies.

When is the best time to visit/ time butterflies are most active? Thank you
Written May 30, 2019
The butterflies are most active first thing in the morning. As the day wears on the get more and more “drunk” on the sugary nectar they consume. They then become more sluggish and less active. I found this to be a better time for good closeup photos. Your entrance fee is good for anytime and as many times as you’d like to visit during the week!!

We stayed about an hour, and that included the tour and taking LOTS of pictures.
