RJ was a funny and informative guide, and the driver was welcoming as well. This was our second time in Aruba and we wanted to see a quieter part of the island. We had the chance to see teeny tiny hermit crabs and many different fish and birds both while we were kayaking and on the two small islands we visited.

The only reason I took one star off is because we had a difficult time booking--I emailed on a Saturday looking for either a Monday or Tuesday tour. RJ emailed back Sunday afternoon saying tours were available for us either Tuesday or Wednesday. I responded right away asking for a Tuesday tour, and did not hear back from him again until 12:30 at night Monday night/Tues morning, for a Tuesday 8 am pickup!!! I understand this is a small family business, but a much quicker response time would've been appreciated.

That being said, we had a great time and would recommend Aruba Outdoor Adventures; just be sure to email or call several days ahead of time.

Great communication from the start on booking and recommending the best experience given our family size, swimming and snorkeling experience. We had a great time with our 2 kids (8 and 11) with this being their first time. RJ was more than exceptional with our son who isn't a strong swimmer and allowed him to hold his shirt the entire duration of the trip. RJ is obviously passionate about Aruba and it shines through. Would highly recommend this if you're looking for a great family outing filled with adventure, education and great local company.

Our family of four recently had the great pleasure of participating in a guided snorkel tour, lead by RJ. Instead of being ferried around on a motor boat, we accessed the snorkeling spot via pedal-kayaks and by expending a little bit of energy! While this is obviously an environmentally friendly way of exploring the island, it is also much quieter and way more exciting (we saw a green sea turtle)! The kayaks are very comfortable and easy to maneuver - just like riding a bike! The snorkeling spot itself was amazing and we saw lots of fish and other sea-creatures, as well as many different kinds of coral. It was the first time we took our two young sons (5 and 8 years old) out snorkeling in the open water and, although the water was a bit choppy, they both did great and we felt very safe at all times. RJ is an extremely knowledgeable guide who actually grew up around the very spot where we went snorkeling. RJ is a passionate advocate for the preservation of Aruba's natural spaces, particularly its coral reefs. He is also a free diver (ask him about his record for holding his breath!). Our snorkeling tour with RJ was the highlight of our trip and we highly recommend it! RJ also offers a picture and movie packet that can be purchased separately, which we also highly recommend. We'll return when our boys are a little bit bigger to "venture out" further!

We were lucky enough to discover RJ and Aruba Outdoor Adventures several years ago when RJ had just started growing his business. This past February was our third trip with RJ and each time is better than the last. It’s no surprise that RJ’s business is booming, and yet each and every tour has been personal and tailored to us. RJ is a native with a strong passion for Aruba and preserving its natural beauty.

RJ’s trips are one of a kind! We have tried other snorkeling trips but never enjoyed being on a tour with 30 others. RJ’s trips are small and personalized. He takes the time to make sure you are comfortable no matter what your comfort level is in the water. He is super knowledgeable fun and an excellent guide. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience in Aruba, RJ is your guy!!!!

We were on the island of Aruba for the second time. Lucky to stay for 2 weeks this go round. On a whim, I reached out to RJ to see if I could book an excursion for the next day. He responded quickly, we made plans and meet up the next day!
What can I say about RJ? He greeted me with his beautiful smile and such enthusiasm for his “work.” I wasn’t expecting a one on one snorkeling trip, but with a pandemic going on, it was not a surprise. I felt like a Queen. With RJ, not only do you get a guided tour of the Caribbean Sea, you receive an education of his beloved Aruba. He taught me about the mangroves, and his concern about their condition. He talked to me about his childhood, how he loved spending every moment he could in the sea.
Onto the snorkeling part..... Although I brought my own mask and snorkel, and wasn’t planning on using fins, he insisted I use his mask (he had treated it so as not to fog up), and fins. So glad I did. While “under the sea”, RJ points out the beautiful sea creatures, shows you things that you didn’t even know were there(flounders) and tells you things to avoid (fire coral).
I brought my water proof camera and I knew Rj had his, but what was a surprise to me was he was taking pictures of me and our surroundings, the whole time. Let me tell you, RJ is a outstanding photographer! I’ve posted my fave pictures that he took of me. He does charge an extra fee (very reasonable and fair) for his photos, and they’re worth every penny!
My husband had stayed on the beach (he’s not confident swimmer and didn’t mind relaxing for 2 hrs, by himself), and he had a cold beer waiting for myself and RJ. We talked and laughed, and felt like we made a fast friend.
I say this with reservation, out of selfishness and fear of RJ becoming too busy that I’m unable to book another excursion with him..... he’s simply the best. You won’t get anyone more educated, friendly, kind, laidback and someone who makes you feel so safe in the sea! I cannot wait for my next trip back to the island and being with RJ again!!!

Wonderful snorkeling, fun pedal kayak, super conversation! We had not been on a snorkel tour for several years, but we were looking for something new. The pedal kayaks are so easy to maneuver, even in the wind. RJ takes you to a great spot where you will see large amounts of all different kinds of sea life. He is very attentive and truly wants you to safely enjoy your time with him. They only take small groups which is so much better! RJ and Ghislane are the sweetest couple! Highly recommend this tour!

We went kayaking in the lagoon and had a terrific time. There were eight of us in total and everyone loved it. RJ clearly loves his job and was great at guiding us on the voyage and telling us about the island and its history. The pictures he took (which we purchased) were amazing!!! Would definitely recommend doing this to anyone vacationing in Aruba and will do it again next time we're there!!

We had an amazing time on this excursion! We were picked up at our hotel and driven to meet RJ at the kayak launch site. I had 3 children with me (ages 14, 12 and 10) and RJ was wonderful, helping them to be comfortable with the kayaks and giving clear, concise instructions. We snorkeled the most gorgeous reef and then hiked around a small island with mangroves. I would recommend water shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen. They provide snorkel gear, life jackets and even snacks! RJ also took the most amazing pictures of our family that we will treasure forever. Highly recommend!

We were lucky to get to take a private tour with RJ. We chose Mike's Reef adventure and were not disappointed. RJ was very patient and encouraging with two very novice kayakers and snorkelers. Unlike other trips we've done before, RJ actually took the time to teach us, practice with us and make sure we were comfortable. When I wasn't sure I could do it, he encouraged me, made me laugh and allowed me to hold his shoulder the whole time we snorkeled. Because of him we did something we will never forget and were able to see the beauty that lies below us in the ocean. He was very personable, knowledgeable and gave us great insight to the nature that surrounds the island of Aruba. RJ is a good man doing great things and truly cares about the world he lives in. Highly recommend!!

This was our 1st time snorkeling and wanted a more personal setting and that is exactly what we got with RJ of Aruba Outdoor Adventures! There was one other couple on our afternoon tour and it was awesome! The pedal kayak’s were so fun and very easy to use. The snorkeling was amazing and RJ was patient with us and walked us through everything we needed to know. His knowledge of the island matched with his personality and conversation is by far one of the best tour guides we’ve had in our travels over the years. Ghislaine,
RJ’s better half, was also a delight to talk with on the travel to/from our hotel and enhanced the experience.
She’s obviously an asset and important part of the business/tour. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a unique, small group, snorkeling and kayak excursion.
10 stars out of 5!!!!
