- mariaMilltown, New Jersey10 contributionsbeautiful for turtles/rays - keep an eye on shore!DON'T follow the beauty or you will get lost! I rented equipment to snorkel with my kids and we followed the turtle and ended up out really far. Be CAREFUL! The wind blows to the west so trying to swim in was tough and we all had on fins. The terrain to climb down is jagged, if you wear water shoes you can place them back on top of the rocks after you are on the sand. there were alot of people but that was fine as people made their way into the water they all spread out. We saw big schools of small fish, a couple or (sting?) rays and turtles! They surface and swim back down and one swam right by my daughter! It was beautiful but really scared us because the wind seemed to pick up and getting back was slow, with much effort!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 7, 2024
- Ester.O.UrraSan Carlos, Chile470 contributionsA lot of brush, but beautifulBeautiful beach, with lots of rock, but you can access the water. I recommend going with water shoes to swim and bathe without problems. People go snorkeling at this beach. It is close to others, clear and very beautiful water.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 3, 2024
- David AUnited States323 contributionsLove this beach!Although not much of a "beach" due to the rocks, the water here is my favorite of the beaches we visited. My favorite thing to do is to go out where I can barely touch bottom, and then float or tread water for a long time. At most beaches, in Aruba and elsewhere, you must go out what seems like 1/2 mile to reach that depth. At Tres Trapi it was more like 10 feet, then there is a dropoff into deeper water. The water is clear and although I didn't snorkel my grandsons did and they said it was most excellent. One problem is the narrowness of the area where you get into the water at the bottom of the steps--since you hit deep water so quickly people (especially those with children) tend to congregate there, making entry into the water a bit difficult at times.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 8, 2024
- Brooke PJohnstown, New York15 contributionsYou'll want to make a stop here! This location is worth a stop! Bring a snorkel and mask and you can swim with some marine life for free! The only downside to this location is the spot is rocky and the stairs are slippery as it's carved out of the rock and leads into the ocean BUT there is a small beach area off to the side that is a little easier for those who cannot go up/down the rock steps. The group I was with said they saw a lot more the previous year as far as turtles but we may have just gone at a different time this year. We still saw turtles and fish, it's free and you don't have to rush. We swam around as long as we wanted! The only thing is they may have tours going on as well so you'll hear them calling in their groups but you can do your own thing! It was worth it!Visited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 23, 2024
- Susan F4 contributionsBring or rent snorkel equipment and go Turtle Watching! 7 Turtles Spotted in the morning.Tres Trapi is the place to go to see sea turtles. Be patient and wait because they come to the surface to breathe. Getting into Tres Trapi is tricky so we entered the water at Boca Catalina Beach and snorkeled to Tres Trapi waters. Turtles were feeding outside of the ropes. I spotted 7 and 4 of them surfaced right in front of me, eye-to-eye.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 10, 2024
- Jet032493601424 contributionsTres TrapiGreat place to swim and were able to see the turtles, but had to go out beyond the swim area. Getting in can be dangerous, have to time the waves...especially with little ones. Recommend a floating device to enable you to stay out longer if you get tired.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2024

- The_TwitPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania198 contributionsYay - sea turtles! We went at 9:30 AM before the parking lot or ocean filled up with tourists, and we saw 5-6 sea turtles just past the swim line. We had floats to help us get out there and back since we are a little out of shape! Water shoes are a must to get in/out of the water down some rocky steps. There were some fish close to shore, but there were more fish at the next beach (Catalina).Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 28, 2024
- TorchBrooklyn, New York72 contributionsMust See 🐟🐠🐢🦎Water is clear and calm perfect for snorkeling 🤿 Great idea to have water shoes. It’s more of a rocky beach than sand. You’ll see lots of lizards around. Not much room to lay out. No problem finding parking in the month of June.Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 4, 2025

This was one of my favorite memories from our Aruba trip! Highly suggest arriving at 7am before it gets busy and the turtles are closer to shore. Loved how we could reach it with a taxi and didn’t need to book a guide! We saw so many turtles of various sizes and so many cool fish too! The water is calm and not too deep. Unforgettable experience!

Sea Turtles come to Tres Trapi to eat the sea grass. Get there early aprox 7-8am as the snorkel boats, some dive boats will arrive in the area and the sea turtles swim out to deep water. Use swim flippers if possible and a floatation device (blow-up type) so if you do encounter any boats if you're out too far. You can take the bus, however, we took a taxi to get there early and caught the bus back to Eagle Beach. Well worth the trip and I was able to get some video of sea turtles. Also encountered a Great Barracuda on video too!

Crystal clear water with nice sandy area right as you walk into the water. Getting in and down to the beach can be tricky going up and down 5 steps carved into the rock but with water shoes it’s not too bad. Once in the water plenty of room to wade around in.
For snorkeling , head out about 50M to some sea grass beds to maybe catch sea turtles. If you want to see sea turtles and less crowded waters I suggest to get there by early morning before the tour boats make their stops. The first day I went in the afternoon and there were lots of boats in the water and lots of snorkelers. The next day I went around 8am and it was just me and 2 other snorkelers, that day I saw some turtles and more fish and the water was clearer.
Also has a fun cliff jump to the left of the beach entrance with about a 10ft drop, easy to swim or walk back to the beach entrance

I’m rating this based on Tres Trapi being a snorkel spot. Within minutes of entering the water I saw a sea turtle. Visibility on the day I went was 10/10.
It’s a somewhat treacherous water entry/exit with strong waves smashing into the rocky coast. But if you time your movements, wear water shoes or fins, or just quickly get in and swim off shore, you’ll be fine. I saw a couple of older less mobile people requiring some mild hand held assistance.
No comfortable wading/standing area. This is not a sandy beach and recommend a chair for comfy seating/sun bathing. It seems like a sure spot to see some turtles as I got out and went back in again and saw even more.

We parked our car and entered the water here (easy entrance down rock stairs to a protected inlet), then swam to the left (Malmok, where the tour boats go, the rock wall is interesting), and to the right (Boca Catalina where we exited and walked back to the car in our water socks). At Tres Trapi, we saw the most interesting type of fish that we had never seen called a flying gurnard. He dwells on the bottom flipping rocks with his fins like hands, but if you startle him, he spans his wings and looks like a ray. There were several here, but not left or right. Boca had very nice rocks and fish, no coral, but lots to see. We found a young sea turtle amongst the grass between Mamok and Tres Trapi. Sunshine really helps brighten all the neat fishes if you can tome it right.

So we had a hard time finding these steps!! But if you put tres trapi steps into gps, it will take you there! (East of Boca Catalina) We took a few pics of the surroundings to help you find it. The water was very rough when we were there but there happened to be a few hurricanes brewing. We heard that it was very unusual for the surf to be so rough here. The steps make it easy to get in here. The water is super clear. We were hoping to see starfish but no luck. We did however see turtles each time we went!! I only took my camera once so I didn’t get a picture of the larger one. If you snorkel by the rocks you see great fish, but the turtles were straight out. Go early because boats bring others into the area. We were there before 10 am both days.

I thought it was a hidden beach, but I was wrong. I don't think there is anything "hidden" in Aruba, the island receives a lot of tourists. Do you want peace of mind? Go to Curacao.
Anyway, small beach, with a few stairs, very paradisiacal and it is already "full" at 8 in the morning. Good for snorkeling and diving. There is space to park, but no protection from the sun.

We went later in the day which we were told would not bring sea life but we saw 2 young sea turtles and a ton of fish! 100% worth it if you go at any time. You’ll spend about 1 hour there. We brought our own goggles and it was awesome. Just pull up and park (or get dropped off) and jump in or walk down the stairs to the water. There were a good amount of people but they were all so nice and we helped each other find sea life. Amazing. Do it.

You only go here for the pretty water and to see turtles. We took a bus here for $2.70 each. Straight out from the rock steps we found several turtles. Some people jumped in the water by the white tube that sticks up from the ground. We then walked down the Boca Catalina and snorkeled on the right side. Then walked to Arashi and snorked on the left side.

This was my first time snorkeling and it was so exciting seeing sea turtles swimming around and munching on the sea grass. We also saw a ton of interesting fish both here and at Boca Catalina. It is rocky and the stairs (only entry point) are narrow but it was definitely an amazing experience!

Is there anyone close by that rents the snorkel gear with floaties or life jackets?

Hi all... How's the current at this spot if we want to get out to the reef to see the turtles? Doable without fins for weaker swimmers?

I broke my foot but really want to come here. Are the steps really sharp? I’m wondering if I can just scoot down them on my bum
