The team are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your trip with us at DiveCarib. We wish that you had said something at the time, so that we could try to make it up to you.
The option of a sheltered/close to shore site was primarily recommended to your group due to the fact that one of your diver's had not dived for more than 5 years. The other reason for choosing this site, was that your group leader informed us that you wanted to be back early to meet some arriving Atlantic rowers, and there were also several divers in your group who only had 4 dives under their belt. When we're asked, we take pride in explaining to guests why we're diving at a particular site, and we make it clear on the website and in all communications that we do not promise dive sites, and that they can only be chosen once we have a reliable weather forecast, and understand the group's experience/comfort level.
Having said all of this, our sheltered sites are many people's favourites, and we regularly see spotted eagle rays, octopus, flounders, etc here. Obviously, like anywhere, the dives aren't always great, and sometimes unfortunately we don't see as much, and it can be disappointing.
We can only apologise if Leigh was swimming a little fast for some of the divers, he's taken the feedback on board.
Regarding the mouthpiece on your regulator, we are truly sorry that you were given a regulator with a torn mouthpiece, and we wish you had notified us prior to making the dive (we carry spare mouthpieces on board). This should have been seen by one of our team members before presenting it to you, but unfortunately mistakes do happen, and it only takes one nervous/inexperienced diver one dive in order to chew through a new mouthpiece; it's something that is more easily missed, but we will make sure that we pay greater attention to that issue going forward.
We hope that you reach out to us when you're next in Antigua, so that we can offer to make it up to you.
In the meantime, keep up the diving.
