We were met by Nellie Beazer, who was to be our competent tour guide and driver, and she really took good care of us. She was content to impart knowledge about her islands in a very amicable manner, which was easy to listen to and take in. We were taken to an early chapel dating to the late 17 hundreds, then a substantial fort with outstanding views, and given plenty time to wander round different sections of this which were distributed over a large area. We then visited what is now called Nelson's Dockyard, which is an absolute gem of a place. On the return leg the plan had been to visit a beach, however, roads were congested and Nellie took the wise decision to reroute. Although Nellie is not originally from Antigua she is clearly very much an islander, very proud of the history and heritage, and knowledgable, she is an exemplary mother, a beautiful lady and clearly respected by others. Some day we would like to revisit Antigua and hope Nellie will be available

We Cruised to Antigua during a seven day Royal Caribbean cruise. With only one day to spend on the island, we conducted a lot of research before hand to determine the best way to experience the Island. We contacted Nellie Beazer of Unique Island Tours by e-mail based on the glowing reviews we read on TA. Once Nellie knew our interests, she arranged everything for our tour and met us on arrival in St. John’s.
Nellie was absolutely fabulous. She drove us around her enchanted island in her immaculately clean and comfortable van pointing out the places of historical interest and stopping at some of the lesser known gems most tour guides aren’t even aware of. Nellie proved to be a subject matter expert on the history of Antigua (pronounced AnTeeGa) as well as the ecology and geography. Her passion for Antigua came shining through in her sincere and entertaining narration during the tour. She loves her home and wants her tourists to love it too. Mission accomplished Nellie!
Just about any taxi could have taken us to St. John’s, Falmouth Harbor, Shirley Heights, Nelson’s Dock Yard and any of the 365 beaches of Antigua, but we’re blessed to have found Nellie and let her guide us to a real EXPERIENCE of all those places and more. THANK YOU Nellie for taking such good care of us and making our day on Antigua one we will never forget.

Having been on a fewes of the ship planned trips we were looking for something different and good value for money. The tour operator Nellie was not pushy when we enquired on the day of our stay in Antigua. Having only 5 hours left on the island. She showed us several routes of interesting stops and historical visits and wonderful vistas. She was excellent guide and we felt it was one of our best tours of the Caribbean. Cost was reasonable and she was very charming and informative. Definitely worth every penny. Thanks so much Nellie.

I recently visited on a cruise and found this tour through TrpiAdvisor. I booked the tour through an online email with Nellie. This tour was fun and Nellie had a lot of knowledge of the island and its history. There were a total of 6 people on the tour compared to some of the tours through the cruise ship that had 15+. Nellie got out at all the stops with us and gave us the history and took plenty of pictures for everyone. During the tour we tasted several different local fruits including the black pineapple. We ended up at the beach as our final stop and she gave us the option to stay as long as we wanted or she would take us back into town as we wanted. We all decided to stay a couple of hour at the beach and then return at the same time. The beach was beautiful and they have a bar and restaurant. The drinks were good (a little expensive) and we had a few appetizers while sitting on the beach. They do charge to use the beach chairs ($5) and umbrellas ($10). The beach was amazing, warm water and it was like walking on powder the sand was so soft. I am not a big beach fan but I wanted to stay longer and relax. Worth the money and I will use Nellies service next time we visit.

Very informative and entertaining. Two teenage girls are easily bored but listened and enjoyed the tour. Clean van. Good driver (have to be to navigate those streets). Did a personal family tour. Worth it.

I contacted Nellie via her website before our cruise to reserve a group tour. She quickly emailed me with a price per person ($35) and an itinerary of the tour she recommended for first time visitors. She met us at the port with a clean air conditioned vehicle. Nellie drove us around the island providing history details and stopping at various points of interest. Our favorite stop was the Shirley Height's lookout which offered amazing panoramic views of the Harbours. We were told that this location offers amazing daily sunsets and every Sunday night you can party with both locals and tourists at this location. (Just don't drink and stand on the edge since those 2 don't mix!) Nellie was also our private tour guide at Nelson's Dockyard which should not be missed during your visit to Antigua. Our final stop was at Jolly Beach where beach chairs and umbrellas were available for rent. There was also a restaurant and a couple of bars for refreshments. The beach was clean and the water was crystal clear. After about 90 minutes she picked us back up at the beach as promised and returned us to the cruise port area. Thank you Nellie for making our visit to Antigua memorable and we hope to return to your island for a longer visit.

Nellie of Unique Island Tours was kind enough to let us join her tour when the tour we booked did not show it. This turned out to be a true blessing. Nellie was great! She gave us a great tour of the island with lots of history and information. She was extremely well informed. She did her best to meet the needs of everyone on the tour. We stopped at Jolly Beach on the way back to our ship. I would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you Nellie!

I travelled alone and had 9 daylight hours to trifle away in Antigua, so i was very happy when Unique Island tours agreed to give me a tour to fill those empty hours. I had not seen Antigua previously and asked that we focus on history, architecture and culture.
The tour guide was friendly and really went all out to show me the sights. In comparison with other tour services in the region though, i found that her knowledge was sparse and really lacking; mainly confined to small talk and general knowledge on the island. Any details had to come from signage at the few sites and an unguided tour at Nelson's Dockyard. We could not even find any local food in the city at lunchtime (another day i easily found delicious street food on my own). She was an excellent driver though and returned me tp airport with time to spare.

We booked w/ UIT directly through their site which was easy to do. They were easy to find at the designated spot but she had parked clear across the port, so we started off w/ a decent walk.
We did the History Replayed tour and some of the listed attractions were just drive by sights. One of the listed stops, Shirley's Heights, had an entrance fee and we were told it was not included. We were very surprised by that due to the price we'd paid and that not being made known beforehand at anytime.
The tour wasn't bad, we just felt the value wasn't very good. Some off the pier tours were half the price.

Visiting Antigua for the very first time on a cruise ship, this is a tour we would recommend. The meeting place is just outside the cruise terminal where there is a tourist information centre. Tell them where or what you want to do and they will tell you where to queue for a taxi or minivan. When there are enough passengers(4 or more),they can start the tour. It costs 20 Us dollars per person . We did a comprehensive tour of the island which offered very much more than other tours, ranging from beaches to heights for a view point and Nelson's Dock etc. We visited all the recommended visitor sites and finished off on a beach. The beauty of this tour is that, the driver will pick you up some hours later and you only pay him or her at the end without any risk of him not coming back for you before the cruise ship departs.. We love the great variety the island has to offer. Highly recommended.

I would like to know the best sites to visit via land in Antigua. Can you see Monk's Hill, Devil's Bridge, Pillars of Hercules via a land tour?
