Had a brilliant day out on the Island Safari 4x4 discovery tour on the 11th March. It was just my wife and I and another great couple being shown around this beautiful island by the brilliant Les! He absolutely made the tour and it was an utter pleasure spending the day with him. A fantastic way to see the island by land. Totally recommend it!

Booked the above personal tour of the island and boy did we see the sights with our amazing tour guide and driver Thierry. From Devils Bridge to English Harbour and the amazing beaches on the tropical side island. We had a lovely lunch at the Roadhouse and as it was my birthday the lovely staff brought out a slice of cake with a candle in singing Happy Birthday. We stopped at Clemies a fresh fruit stall and had a tasty selection of tropical fruit to enjoy. Thierry was a great guide telling us about the places we visited aswell as sharing what day to day life for Antiguans is like so really got to experience for a brief time island life.

We decided to take the open air jeep island tour for the day. We were greeted by our tour guide at our hotel and he was so much fun from the get-go. We picked up for other people and it was really nice we had a lot of room with just six people on the tour. He took us to so many different places on the island Nelsons Harbor Yard was inmpressive, Betty’s Hope...a sugar plantation and Shirley’s Heights to overlook the entire island. Shire in our guide was knowledgeable, funny and never stopped the rum punch coming. The highlight was the natural bridge and Long Bay Beach. Lunch was a treat, for some reason we ended up at a restaurant called the Road House due to lack of communication with the tour company but it was a blessing in disguise. The owners and the chef were so very welcoming and the food was delicious! We also had a great group of people on our tour which made it extra special. What a great day with great memories of Antigua!!

Our tour was arranged by the Tour Desk at Sandals Grande Antigua. There were 4 of us in the suv plus our driver Terry. Terry was a very careful driver and extremely knowledgeable. He shared many background historical stories that you would not find in the travel guides. All the passengers shared a common interest in cricket so we stopped for a good 20 minutes at the Sir Viv Richards Cricket stadium. Terry and the guys enjoyed a healthy debate about cricket. We visited Betty Hope a former slave plantation, Devils Bridge a landmark view point over the rough Atlantic sea. The famous Shirley Heights Lookout point down across Nelson Dockyard, Falmouth and English Harbour. We stopped and had lunch at Turners beach and had time for a dip if we chose too. As we drove, Terry pointed out the local villages and the history behind their names. Antigua has many splendid houses built in the hills and so many gated resorts and celebrity hotspots. Driving around Antigua the scenic beaches were picture postcard perfect. We would highly recommend doing this tour and follow it up with a Catamaran Island cruise. To see Antigua from the land and sea is to enjoy the best that Antigua has to offer. Thank you Terry and you make a good rum punch drink too. Cheers!!
