Great beach and bar

Walked to the beach and Mystic bar from our cruise ship. Had a great day. Beach, bar food and relaxation. The staff and service was excellent. We will be returning.

Went to Runaway beach on Antigua to avoid the big crowds that other beaches have. This is a lovely man made lagoon with clear blue water. Very quiet with chairs/umbrellas you can rent for $15. Restaurant with friendly staff to greet you. If you wish to be more to yourself, and have less crowds this will be the experience you... More

We were very happy with our excursion to Runaway Beach... 1. the beach is relativly isolated...not too many buidings nearby. 2. The sand is nice quality 3. The beach chairs are not crowded together...everyone has some breathing space. 4. Bathrooms are clean 5. There's no one trying to sell you stuff along the beach (a real big plus!). Overall, we... I wasn't sure where I wanted to go but knew that I wanted to go to the beach! Myself and my family member took a taxi ride to Runaway Beach! It was not crowded! The water was beautiful and calm. The locals were very friendly. We were able to buy mixed drinks and rent loungers. Our loungers were placed under... More

We visited ‘Runaway Bay Beach’ on a recent cruise. We got picked up in a bus from the port and had a 20 mins drive through St Johns then onto Runaway Bay. The beach was beautiful with talcum powder soft golden sand and crystal clear sea water. The entry into the water was excellent with no shells or rocks underfoot.... More

this is a very popular beach with crowds galore. It is long and great view of the water. You need to rent a umbrella and chairs and must pass the lines of people to get into the water. Beach sand is higher and has dip to water acess. The nest restaurant is extremely crowded, total fiasco to getting seats, ordering... More

On a suggestion from another traveler, we went here after a zip-line. This was a nice beach for 90 minutes. Not much available other than a small bar.

Went to Runaway beach on Antigua to Lobster Shack, now named Witteys! This is a lovely manmade lagoon with no waves just clear blue water. Very quiet with no rows of sunbeds and a bar and restaurant with lovely helpful staff. We were the only sun worshippers on that day and it was perfect - if you want serenity this... More

What I liked about this beach was its something for everyone vibe: couples, small groups of friends, families, seniors or just solo beach-goers. Added to the the accessibility of the beach (a short drive from the capital and main town of)Saint John's and the overall laid-back non-hustley vibe in spite of the fact that the beach backs a rather large... 30 years ago my wife and I spent our honeymoon at a hotel on Runaway Beach and are going back next year for our anniversary. We stayed at a small hotel with cottages close to the sea but looking at Google Earth we cannot see anything now. Does anyone remember any such hotel, we would love to find out what... More
