Long Bay

About
On the far-eastern coast, you'll find coral reefs in water so shallow that you can actually walk out to them. Along the beach are the Long Bay Hotel and the rambling Allegro Resort Pineapple Beach.

Long Bay Beach is one of the finest beaches to visit on Antigua. Located on the far eastern portion of the island, it is somewhat isolated from the more visited areas of Antigua. It's a 30 min drive/taxi from St John's but well worth the effort. We have visited this beach several times over the last 15 years including this past January. While there's always a moderate amount of people at this beach and it never seems overly busy. No problem arriving mid-day and finding a good spot. Cruise ship passengers tend to go to beaches closer to the port or along the west coast. Pineapple Beach Club is on one end of the beach, but it doesn't create a large crowd. Expect to pay US$5 for a lounger and US$ 10 for an umbrella. The beach is beautiful with white sand and warm turquoise water in a large cove setting. Unfortunately, snorkeling was pretty mediocre although there is a small reef to explore. There is a good beach bar present with inexpensive local Wadadli beer and other cocktails. The rum punch was excellent. Bathrooms are available. Only a couple vendors. Not a bad choice if you are here on a cruise and only have 1 beach to choose from and definitely a beach to include if you are on the island for several days.

Small beach, spoilt by seaweed. Unfortunately the vendor renting the loungers was closed. There was a stall selling cold drinks, beach items like bucket and spade, sea shells. Alongside were 3 stalls open selling the usual items of sarongs, dresses, costume jewellery. Luckily we brought a small picnic with us, as there was no vendors selling food.

Water is beautiful and clear. Easy access to the water and snorkeling is not far from shore. Water is pretty shallow for about 50 ft from shore and the ranges from 5-12ft towards the reef. Along the way they are some areas with see grasses where you can actually stand up and the back to the clear water which is about 12 feet deep

It’s a nice enough beach. Not as long as you might expect. At the moment they have lots of seaweed that needs clearing every day with a bulldozer. If Mama pasta isn’t open, there's only a kiosk selling drinks and crisps. Lots pf locals on Sunday evening as it’s popular. Has a nice vibe. Pretty view to right, Pineapple all inclusive on left, where you can’t eat or drink without day pass.

If you stayed at the Verandah and didn't visit this beach shame on you! So weird they don't tell guests about it. Even locals say it is their favourite beach on the island.

This is an absolutely wonderful beach of fine white sand that is very clean. The beach is also well protected by a reef, but it can be windy.

Best beach we found in Antigua! Gorgeous, beautifully warm water, snorkelling, hanging out, just generally an excellent spot. Parking available.
A waiter at our hotel who is an Antigua native even said she and her family think it’s the best beach and they’ve obviously been to them all!

We just drove in a hire car from where our hotel was so no extra costs involved, for us just the car for a couple of days and fuel. Sorry can't be more helpful!

Please avoid the island water sports ltd shack on long bay. He is a criminal and has been beating a dog and trying to drown it. The authorities are involved. As is the Antiguan government.

Hi,
We want to stay in the water villa during May and spend time snorkeling. Is the water deep near the water villa (more than 1.5 m deep in low tide?). Does the hotel allow late check out and how much would it be if we want to stay in water villa for an extra 4 hours on the last day? Thanks.
