This used to be a regular place to visit, until the experience was spoiled due to council greed. There are now parking meters placed for local taxpayers to fork out more cash.

Don't bother going to Pen Y Fan Pond. What should be a fabulous place a trick has been missed by Caerphilly Council who seem only to want to put money into the old Rhymney Valley District which they took over. Who knows what logic is behind this except perhaps most of their 'members' live in that area. Quick enough in putting money making car parking machines in car park at the pond but what about cleaning up the area first. If there was a minus I would put that in. For 65 years I have lived here and am ashamed the way it is becoming.

We used to go to Pen-y-Fan on a regular basis, when it was free. Now there is a charge for parking, and so we have stopped going, what is there to go for except, large amounts of dog mess, where the irresponsible owners allow their dogs to run free, and do not pick up after them.
When paying for the privilege of going for a walk the council could at least enforce these owners to pick up after their pets and to control them, perhaps the payment fees could help pay for a warden?

Excellent for a leisurely stroll or jogging. There is a shop and outside table and chairs. Ideal for picnics too.

Beautiful pond! Lovely to walk around with the dog, especially if you go at a quieter time (less good weather, early or late). Lovely at sunset. Gets more mixed use since the tarmac has been put down all the way around - which is great for buggies and wheelchairs. Lots of bird life to watch is you sit on a bench on the way around. It's a shame some dog owners are irresponsible and don't clean up after their dogs but we aren't all in that boat. £1 charge in the car park added in the last 2 years.

Good for a brisk walk around the pond on a lovely day, lots of wildlife - cormorants, mallards and even swans. Good place to walk your dog. However you now have to pay at least £1 for the privilege! This just results in unlawful parking on the main road.

We have two boisterous dogs and when they know they are nearing the pond they start to get excited. For us humans, it’s beautiful, peaceful, calm and flat. Flat is important for ball thrown for the dogs. They’re getting on and we don’t want them getting arthritis before their time, it not too big to make the dogs want to go on and on, because one of the dogs is a collie who doesn’t know the meaning of stop. For us, it’s a peaceful place to go to for a break from hectic town life,

Why pay to park when you can travel to Tredegar park for free. Then they have a kids park, A lovely walk around the lake. Cafe on site serving meals. You can even pay to camp here. Come on Caerphilly council. Drop the car park fee.
