I always enjoy visiting this gallery, one of several Hauser & Wirth galleries around the world, with its international contemporary art exhibitions.
This weekend, there was also an Easter Extravaganza with lots of activities for families. Bringing young people into an art environment has to...More
My boys and their cousins really enjoyed the freedom to roam about and explore, expending energy for a quiet trip home back to Bristol. Thank you to the boy’s grandma and grandpa Ruth and Brian for the suggestion! 👍😁
We came for a quick look, really liked the artwork, but a bit more explanation would be good. Also stayed for a coffee - which was very nice - and managed to be seated in the restaurant. Would love to come back for lunch.
Although my wife and I are not from this part of the World, we have friends who live near Bruton and as we visit them regularly, so Hauser & Wirth is regularly on our itinerary I’m pleased to say.

At 11 a.m. we stopped for a coffee and kedgeree in a largely unwelcoming and cold barn. So we moved to a table near a heater but were unceremoniously warned we’d need to go by 12 noon as that table was booked for lunch. The...More
Until the 2nd May there is a SUPERB exhibition by Matthew Day Jackson on show. What a talented artist, breaking new ground, his works are superb and well worth seeing. I can't rate him highly enough.

Visited the two exhibitions today - 12th February 2019 - a wonderful exhibition of Catherine Goodman's 'Eve'. Some of the artist's expressionistic landscapes were influenced by her stay in India, these I particularly found attractive with her vigorous drawing and use of explosive colours.
Art gallery housed in a renovated old barns with complementary modern additions. Wonderful gardens by Piet Oudolf, the internationally-renowned landscape designer move with the seasons.
We have visited several times. Excellent exhibitions of works by Alexander Calder or Elizabeth Frink have been countered by more...More

Not an issue I found when I visited but I presume something was said or done at the time of your visit to give you this feeling. I find that people will / can act in a way that can cause irritation but in most cases only if you let them. If you don't feel up to or not confident enough to challenging the staff member at the time I would suggest some possible courses of action.
1. Don't leave a tip
2. Don't leave a tip and write why on the bill (NO TIP because of rude/ patronising staff etc)
3. As above and speak to the manager
4. Leave feedback on their website as this will give them a chance to respond to you and resolve the issue
Please remember that offense is often taken when never given. WE can also have bad days. How often have you been in an establishment when the staff are working hard an going beyond and its the customers who are the nightmares?
Please be assured that I am not saying that you were at fault in this situation but in short if there is an issue deal with it at the time as it is far easier to get a resolution then and there than to grizzle about it for days and weeks afterwards.
If this was not in the restaurant there would be no tip but still access to a manager.
