About
Guangsheng Temple is a magnificent Buddhist temple built in south-central Shanxi Province in the year 147. The highlight of the temple is the spectacular Feihong Pagoda, the largest and best preserved glazed pagoda in China. Octagonal in shape and nearly 500 years od, this 13-storey pagoda really glimmers on sunny days. This temple has many other fantastic elements and could be a UNESCO World Heritage Site one day. I would be happy to provide a full write-up if you could give it a listing. (ShanxiFan--who recently provided you with thorough write-ups for many of your other Shanxi sites, many of which had no descriptions)

There are just so many pagodas and temples in China and what an historic beauty this is in terms of how much is still being preserved from it's original state. There are several highlights within the temple compund but the most manificent is the pagoda (Flying Rainbow "Feihong Tai") which we could also access the ground floor.
We visited between 2-4pm and there were no other visitors and many because it hadn't been very well developed for tourism yet. To access the temple compound, and because we took a coach, we had to do a little hike up the hill for about 15-20min which was not really a problem during the Winter/Spring month. But with extra fees, I believe small cars can get you to the doorstep.
