Great proximity with animals
Apr 2018 • Family
The zoo starts with a nice visit by car. You can see, in live, many animals from your vehicle. Then, after easily parking the car, you visit the zoo by foot. The proximity with animals is really close. This park is really good for young kids. There is also some games for them.

great zoo.

I loved this zoo. You get to drive thru if you want or walk on certain paths. Some exhibits were closed but the other ones were open. The animals are friendly.

Close to seeing Africa in SW France
Aug 2017 • Family
If the Zoo a Plaisance was just the zoo on foot part, it would still be good, but the opportunity to drive past animals in a natural, uncaged habitat is close to how you see them on an African Safari. There are enough animals to make it interesting for adults and exciting for children. The seal show within the zoo area is very entertaining. Good outdoor activity to let the young generation see some of these critters before we drive them to extinction.

Very sad zoo. Animals looked sad lonely... even though the place looked clean. We didn't see ONE member of staff during the whole time !!!
Triste zoo. Animaux semblent tristes et seul. Pas un seul membre du personnel pendant notre visite. Fermez ce zoo s il vous plait

Lovely little zoo and safari park
May 2017 • Family
I very much enjoyed this visit. What you get for what you pay - which was very little compared to some of the extortionate safari parks, was excellent. Mainly or 4 your old enjoyed herself thoroughly and this could be great for a day's distraction when you are in the area. A really good size and varied selection of wild-life. The amenities, atmosphere and overall condition of the zoo was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend.

Very enjoyable visit
Apr 2017 • Family
I would advise you to arrive early as we did as the place filled up quickly ( which is already a sign of its success :) ) , The safari drive was really nice , being able to observe animals more closely. The zoo itself is also very nice with varied animals from multiple origins and many shows for the kids ( otters, parrots etc...)
Very nice and will surely come back.

Awful
Aug 2016 • Family
Rather expensive for what you get. The trip in the car was all right but the hippos were just two rocks in the water and the other animals just hide. The ani.als in the cages look depressed and the cages are way to small. The o ly good thing was the sea lions.

A pleasant zoo!
Jul 2016 • Family
Contrary to the views of some other reviewers, this zoo provided a pleasant day out for our little family and is well worth a visit. As you drive in you immediately go through the safari area. This takes about 20 minutes with the docile animals wandering freely and some larger ones behind safety wires / ditches. If you're looking for monkeys ripping off your wipers you'll be disappointed, but if you want to see some wildlife up close you'll be pleased. You're straight in after the ticket gate with no stopping, so arrive prepared to drive straight in.

Then you park up and go to the zoo area on foot. The cages are a typical size for most European city zoos and certainly not too small. The whole park area is well kept and tidy. There is a seal show a few times during the day, worth visiting, where they do laps and jumps in their pool area. There's also a bird show which was a bit disappointing as they essentially just bring parrots out and sit them on your head.

There's a cafe, open all day, lunches until 2pm and a small play area with roundabouts and see saws but no swings or climbing! There's also a little area with goats and sheep to stroke. Toilets clean, bank cards accepted.

Good safari but some of the caged animals are looking very bored.

Great safari route with plenty to see but the tigers and wolves in cages look fed up and could do with more space. Overall a good day out though.

This isn't a safari - it's a glorified, low quality zoo! Avoid!
Aug 2014 • Family
Don't even bother to go here. We live near Longleat (in the UK) which shows exactly how well animals can be kept in captivity. This so-called 'safari' is a joke. Apart from a few ostriches and zebras which could roam about, most of the big animals were in very poorly designed and small enclosures. There was electric fencing everywhere and other deterrents to stop animals climbing trees etc, which would be their normal habitat. The monkeys looked bored stiff and the larger monkeys were pacing around their tiny compound with no stimulation of any kind. There was also a crocodile is a water enclosure that was so small it could hardly even turn around. The big cats were also in very small enclosures and didn't look like happy animals. It wasn't cheap to get in, so we were left wondering what they spent the money on, as it clearly wasn't the welfare of the animals! Even our six year old daughter could tell that many of the animals looked distressed - she has seen animals in captivity that are well looked after and as contented as any animal can be in captivity. Do not go here and especially do not take your children here - we do not want them to think this is an appropriate way to keep animals!!!
