Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a national park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a national park was the protection of the largest and best preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia, which was threatened by overexploitation. The Paklenica National Park stretches on the area of 95 km2 , on the littoral slope of South Velebit under the zone of highest mountain peaks Vaganski vrh (1752) and Sveto brdo (1753).

We spent a whole day in this park, amazing nature and offers a lot of activities, we rented bikes and had amazing tour provided by small local company. Don't miss it! It is little bit distanced from the city but worth to visit for sure

Loved this place. Rocky mountains and trails with stunning scenery. Would recommend a visit if you're anywhere near although it's definitely worth travelling to!

Beautiful scenery and so much more interesting than Krca National Park. Stunning gorges and wonderful remote walking. Seems to be a Mecca for rick climbers also.

There's no lakes in the park. You can dip into the river or, even better, go for a swim in the sea, which is richt by the entrance.
