Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art is an art gallery inside Kew gardens that specialises in exhibiting classic and contemporary botanical art. In addition, there's an ever changing special exhibition. On the day I visited, there was a special exhibition of glass sculptures created by Dale Chihuly. Who's work is also exhibited around the gardens as well as in the exhibition. I love the smoothness of glass, the way colours look so pretty blended in glass, but mostly I love the way glass can be manipulated into almost any shape. Pity I can afford the Chihuly on sale at the shop.

The gallery is included in the entry price to Kew Gardens and well worth dropping into. The exhibition on our our most recent visit was “When Flowers Dream”, which is set to run until March 2023. The exhibition was admittedly a little odd but it’s still worth taking a look - especially because of the great gift shop at the end!

A very nice centre for exhibitions with a core gallery and a shop. For me it pales beside the extraordinary Marianne North Gallery next door, but there is room for both as additions to Kew Gardens itself.

Loved the Chihuly glassworks and the artist’s paintings of plants. I would definitely visit again. I don’t know what is on offer at other times.

This is an amazing exhibition of intricately made flowers from metal. Stunning display of both painted sides and metal side. A must see at Kew Gardens.

The collection of modern botanical art at the Shirley Sherwood collection at Kew stunned and humbled me. What magnificent work! Words are pale and inadequate. This is the kind of art that inspires, that makes you realize the extraordinary capabilities of tainted human beings. See it, for goodness sake, see it.

Temporary exhibit of Chihuly's glass sculptures at the Gallery is phenomenal! All of them are so unique and different one from another; the variety of colors, intricate shapes and forms are beyond any reasonable imagination.

I also loved the Gallery shop, where you can actually acquire a small Chihuly's glass sculpture, if you are ready to spare $$$$... but his works are worth every penny of their price tag.
