We visited 2 of the chateaux owned by the family - one was old and one new. Great to see the differences and also to taste the wines from them both.
The guide spoke great English and was knowledgeable and funny.. It wasn't high brow but easy to understand and learn from.
We walked from the station in St Emilion. It took us 35 minutes. Taxi was not an option as it was Sunday but there were a couple of Tuk Tuks to hire waiting at the station.

A beautiful picturesque setting with incredible views in a quiet countryside setting. A warm welcome, friendly & informative tour. Great experience seeing both the old and new wineries respecting the difference in winemaking. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The wines were well worth the visit.

We did the wine tasting part only. They had many different wines. The view was beautiful. Our guide Justin was impressive. He spoke fluent English and provided detail information about each wine that we tried. Although we waited longer than expected, Justin made our experience pleasant.

Thanks to our wonderful guide Aurielle, we had a great tour of this vineyard. We were the only two on the tour so it felt just like a private tour and Aurielle certainly made us feel very welcome and imparted a lot of knowledge. Even got to see the mobile bottling plant, an extra treat. The view is stunning from the deck and from the box. Architecture and great wine all in one. Wine the best we tasted in the area and shipped some back to UK for special occasions.

Hello, We are glad to it was a great experience. We hope the wines you bought were open for happy occasions. Maybe we will see you soon at Château La Croizille and Château Tour Baladoz ? Why not this Autumn for the harvest and to smell the nice aromas of the fermentations. Best regards,

Such a beautiful place and gorgeous wine, but the horrible guide Julius has spoiled everything. He hates his work and being in contact with people, is incapable of answering wine questions except the standard tourist ones “do you produce white wine”? I wanted to buy a bottle of wine but he talked with gritted teeth and was reluctant to help. So when I asked if I could buy a bottle, he answered “oh we are doing afterwords with important clients now, good bye”. So you have important and unimportant clients? Such a shame you have a gorgeous domain and unkind guides who hate people in general.

Bonjour Alyona, Thank you for sharing your impressions about your visit at our wine estate and we are very sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations during the organized bus tour that you participated in. For your information, our guides grew up in a family of winemakers, studied enology and are specialised in wine tasting. Through their jobs in wine tourism at our wine estates, they are very pleased and enthousiastic to share their passion and knowlege to all our guests, whether they are wine newbies or experts. And they use accessible English words to response to « standard tourist » or technical questions. During your visit at our winery, you asked about classification rules in Saint-Emilion, but you also had confusions with the one established in 1855 for Medoc wines. Our guide explained you the differences about those 2 wine regions with a simple and clear speech, so the other participants can understand too. Since this topic seems important for you, we invite you to check on Saint-Emilion Wine Council’s website will confirm that our guide gave you the right information. We are also very surprise about the words you are quoting and we honestly think you misunderstood our guide. After the visit and the tasting, our guest usually have 5 to 10 minutes of free time at the wine shop. And our guides try to answer to the remaining questions or to give advices to all our guests, whether they are buyers or not. Unfortunately, since you have a very tight schedule with an organized group tour (only 1 hour at the winery), you may have run out of time on that day. As we remember, some people of your group actually took this free time to buy wines and to order shipments. Others, like you, were taking pictures at the panoramic terrasse or asking more questions to our guide. Once your group was ready, your driver kindly asked you to get back in your van, our guide politely said goodbye to everyone of your group and started his next visit with another group once you were gone. If you told your driver or our guide that you were interested in buying wines, we are convinced they would let you more time. If you have the chance to come back in Bordeaux region, we will be glad to welcome you for a « Privilège Visit » which is a private 2 hours tour with more technical explanations and more time. Meanwhile, you can also order the wines you wanted to buy on site by calling us and we will be glad to ship them to Paris. Kind regards,

We initially tried to book the lunch for the day we went but it was full and extremely popular. So we plumped for the barrel tour and had a fascinating tour of both Chateau Tour Baladoz (the old) and Chateau La Croizille (the New). The group consisted of just my partner and I and an Texan couple which made it more exclusive. We were guided by Justin who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We were invited to try the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes direct from the vine and then on to the barrel tasting. For fun, we had to guess by the tasting which grape was used. Finally, we sat outside overlooking the vineyards and tried three tastings, the last one with pieces of chocolate to eat. Overall, it was a fabulous experience and we went away happy and with a few bottles of wine.

Our visit to Chateau La Croizille and its sister winery Chateau Tour Balados was a study of contrasts between traditional wine making and the latest in new wine making technology. Our tour was arranged as part of a larger tour through Ophorus Excursions and Tours, so everything was ready when we arrived. We had an excellent, English-speaking winery guide who was knowledgeable and who took her time to make sure that we understood both processes and enjoyed our tastings. All in all, it was a most excellent way to experience the St. Emilion region. We would highly recommend including both Chateaus on any wine experience in Bordeaux.
