About
Petreon Sculpture Park is the culmination of a dream and 14 000 hours of work. An ever-growing collection of large scale sculptures in a permanent open-air exhibition is the main - but not the only - park attraction. An extensive collection of small sculptures are scattered throughout the grounds. In the small stone church you can get intimately acquainted with the byzantine icon tradition through the collection of hand-painted icons and the "Archontariki" gallery is hosting various exhibitions, including small scale sculptures and paintings. The small amphitheatre "Liasidion" plays host to a number of poetry and music nights on summer evenings. Plant lovers have the opportunity to see more than 200 different varieties of cactuses, as well as a vast array of Mediterranean fruit trees and plants. The Park operates by appointment only. Do give us a call or message before you plan your visit.

We are grateful to our gps for having found the park for us. We found the sculptor, Savvas Koulendros, hard at work at the entrance, but once he saw us he walked up to us and greeted us warmly. He gave us a brochure showing us where to walk and explaining exactly what each sculpture was about. The larger than life sculptures are surrounded by many small sculptures and 200 different varieties of cactus. Savvas later sat with us and told us that he has been working on the sculptures from 18 years, carrying on even after his wife, a painter who created the mosaics, passed away.

According to the website, it is closed on Fridays. To get there:
Petreon is situated amongs the fields of Mazotos, off the main road leading from Kiti to Zygi. Once on that road it is easy to find us by following the Petreon signs that can be found all the way leading to the Petreon Sculpture Park.

This site is well worth a detour.

After receiving a recommendation to visit this sculpture park, I convinced my wife to add it to the end of our day outing from Larnaca. It ended up being the highlight of our day. Along with being filled with wonderful creations, the park itself is a work of art. Plan to relax and let your mind wonder as you become inspired by this setting.

This is a lovely tranquil place to spend some time admiring the inspiration and talents of Savvas, the man behind the sculptures. His son, Stelios, greeted us and was happy to explain how his fathers' vision became a reality when he entered his 50's. A lesson to all those of us who are heading towards retirement ..... keep active and make sure you have some interests to pursue, or your life will become meaningless! There are over 30 main sculptures to view, plus lots of smaller ones, along with some nice landscaping. You need to see the sculptures to really be able to appreciate them, particularly their incredible size in some cases! Stelios, and his wife Annoushka, now live in the stone house, which Savvas built on the same site as the sculptures, and they are most welcoming. They found time to sit and chat to us for a while after our visit and we really enjoyed their company. Well done to the family for keeping Savvas' dream alive ........ we hope to be back :)

It is a small gem in the middle of nowhere... near mazotos village on the see side, you will find this amazing place. Beautiful sculptures, small church at the back and even a small theater with missive on the floor made by the owners. Very friendly owner, patient for his job! Must visit!

We visited this Sculpture park yesterday after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. Its such a wonderful experience.
Unfortunately the creator has now died but the park is still owned by the family & we were greeted by his son Stelios & later his wife Annouska.
We loved this special place full of amazing sculptures in a beautiful garden.
There is also a small chapel & a gallery with beautiful paintings done by Stelios's mother & sister.
Later we sat & enjoyed a juice & coffee & chatted for a while with Annouska & Stelios.
We had such an enjoyable visit that we have decided to return again to see the sculptures in the golden light of late afternoon.
Thank you Annouska & Stelios.

To believe it you have to visit the place. The place is closer to Larnaca than Limassol and finding it may be a bit of an effort, I suggest using satellite navigation (Google maps are OK). Savvas (the owner of the place and the artist behind all sculptures) is very friendly person and it is interesting to talk to him - he really knows life and local traditions. Suggest everyone visiting Cyprus stops by this place. Statues are truly majestic.

This artist started aged 50 when he found he could sculpture the faces he saw in rocks. He is now 70 and his land is full of sculptures - some over 3 metres high. There is also the most wonderful cactus and succulent gardens and even a Stonehenge structures. He additionally built a house out of stone, a chapel and an arena. Both his daughter and wife contributed works to his gallery. There is even a twin towers vision. He came out to greet us and we spent over an hour discussing his life, art and vision.
He is a wonderful man and originally the art works were solely for his family but in the past few years he opened it to the public for a charge of euro 2.50.
It will not be easy to find and you will need a car, but the locals will know how to direct you - and this is well worth a visit. Art is a subjective experience but for me it was a magical visit - mainly the discussion we had with him and the environment.

The Sculpture Park was recommended to us by the owners of our apartment in Kalavasos Village. It is on the coast road from Zigi to Larnaca. If you are in the area it is a must see. Built entirely by a man with a passion, together with his wife who's passion was gardens. It is a small but beautiful place to spend some time. You will be amazed by the sculptures that are here all done by one man who has, sadly, now passed away. The park is now being looked after by one of his Sons (Stelios) and wife (Annoushka) who are very welcoming. Don't miss it.

Petreon Sculpture Park is a dream-come-true of one person, Savvas, who regretfully passed away a few weeks before our visit.
However, his charming and hard working daughter and son-in-law are keeping the place running and are continuing the vision of Savvas.
Petreon is an outdoor sculpture park with some beautiful works in stone. Take a leaflet at the entrance (there is a small entrance fee) and stroll through the garden and read about what is behind each of the sculptures.
Be sure to visit the tiny chapel at the rear of the garden.
The visionary's house itself is not open to visitors but make sure you give it a good look. Even from the outside the stonework that has gone into the house is very impressive.
Petreon isn't terribly easy to find. However, on the road between Kiti and Zygi, close to Mazotos, it is clearly signposted.
Definitely worth the detour and give it some time!! Take your time!!
