What a fantastic little trip. It was amazing and the team were brilliant. Well organised and you felt so safe. Good instruction and at the end of the experience as we were the last of the day they let us dive off the boat into the sea for another treat. Definitely worth booking via the hotel. We were all tempted to go again.
When you get down to the sea bed they guide you to a vantage point and you get to feed the fish. They also take video and photos which for $30 is real value for money. Thank you!

We had a fantastic time sae walking. My 8 year old was really nervous but the staff were fantastic - one staff member was there just to keep a hold of her under the water and look after her. It made it stress free for us and a great experience. Would love to go again!

We booked this through our resort (Grand Mirage). The experience throughout the activity was amazing. We were looked after well by the staff members from start to end.
Never have I thought I would walk at the bottom of the sea! Putri was very helpful from the start, along with the staff members involved in the activity. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone!

The good part: We were picked up at the hotel 1h30m before our booked time, they provide the service complimentary. After arriving we completed some medical and waiver forms and read the safety instructions that were also explained to us. We took a boat to the platform, then put on the shoes that they gave us and were explained once again about some safety measures and communication gestures and started to go down. When the water reaches your shoulders they will put the helmet on (it weights 37Kg but only 7Kg underwater) and you keep descending the ladder. I felt a lot of pressure when going down and had to stop a few times. When we were all down, we held the guide bar and walk three or four steps to see the fishes. My kids fed the fishes, then we saw some corals on a table, and then we went up. Water was not very clear, maybe due to the tides but we did see some nice fish, some came to my daughter’s hand.
I was a bit disappointed because I thought we would walk a little more than we did but it was a nice experience for somebody that hasn’t been underwater before and for the ones who can’t swim.
We bought fish food and the photo and CD package that was delivered to our hotel the night after we did the Seawalker. Because the water was murky the photos came out a bit grainy and unclear, but still a nice memory.
Now, the bad part: Think carefully before doing because my 10 years old daughter has some ear problems and we did wrote it in the medical form. When she started her descent she had to stop and come up again because she couldn’t “pop” her ears. I even advised her to give up, but she decided to try it one more time and slowly, she managed to reach the bottom. At the bottom, I asked her if she was ok, and she said yes. But then, when the diver brought her up, he went to fast and when we were out of the water I asked her if she was ok and she said not really. We went back to our hotel but she started to cry because of ear pain. The hotel doctor checked and she had some blood inside her left ear and sent her to Siloam Hospital where she was diagnosed with a barotrauma on both ears. When we explained we had done the Seawalker the doctor said she should have come up slower than she did, to have time to adjust the pressure, especially because she has ear problems. Her left eardrum almost burst and I had to stay with her in Bali 5 more days than planned, waiting for her to recover as she couldn’t fly because of the pressure. It was only around 4 meters deep, but do think carefully if you or your kid has any ear problem.

This was a FANTASTIC experience. I've been wanting to do this since I went to Aruba earlier this year, and so when I found it in Bali, I was so excited. After researching various Seawalker locations, I chose the one at the Grand Mirage, mostly based on past reviews and reputation. We booked via phone. One thing to note - you must pay in cash. This place does not accept credit cards, which was a minor inconvenience, but not a showstopper by any means. The price is $75 USD/person. Other places may be cheaper and drivers will tell you they can get you a reservation for $20-$35 USD, BUT I would advise against that. This is a serious activity! You're going out on a boat and UNDER WATER - the extra price tag is well worth it for peace of mind on the people, amenities, and insurance you are paying to cover.
Back to the experience - right after we booked, I started to feel very anxious about the whole thing because I don't swim well and I'm not very good at being under water. I still wanted to do it so I said I'd just take it one step at a time! The van picked us up from our hotel and took us over to the Grand Mirage. The driver escorted us down to the Seawalker desk, where we were given an overview of the process, patents on the helmet, and safety briefing. Here, you will get upsold on pictures, video, and fish food. We negotiated a lower price on the photos/video, but again, you do have to pay in cash.
Once we got through the formalities, a few pictures were taken and we were given life jackets to wear and a tote to put our extra stuff in. We were offered a locker but we only had a couple things, so it was not necessary. We were taken down to the shore where a small boat was waiting for us. A few additional pictures and a video later, and we were off on the boat. Here, you need to be a little patient because the sea has a lot of sea grass, which can stall the engine on the boat. It's no fault of the boat operator - it's just nature! After a short 5-10 minute ride, you reach the pontoon where a few other folks await. There were two divers coming down with us - both of whom were very reassuring and walked us through the process again. They also provide you with shoes (Crocs) to wear on the ocean floor.
The divers go down first to assist us getting into the water. Essentially what happens here is you climb onto the ladder on the side of the pontoon, go shoulder deep into the (cold) water, and then the Seawalker helmet is placed on your shoulders. The helmet is HEAVY. I believe it is around 37kg/80lbs, so you will start to sink down into the water. Take it slow down the ladder because you have to let the air pressure in your ears equalize. The divers helped me down the ladder and off we went! The depth of the water is about 3.5-4 meters (11-13 feet).
They give you connected rings to hold onto so the group stays together. In this case, it was just my husband and me, which was lovely. We saw a bunch of coral and a TON of very colorful fish. The fish are clearly used to this happening because the second the fish food bottle came out, they swarmed and went straight for the hole in the bottle. :) It was very surreal to have all those fish around. The divers did a great job of snapping a ton of pics/video without taking away from the experience. We did pose for a few pictures - they had a happy honeymoon plaque, which was a nice touch!
Overall, the underwater experience was about 20 minutes or so. The entire thing was maybe a little over an hour. Once you're done underwater, you go back up to the pontoon, get dried off (they give you towels at the hotel to take with you), and head back on the smaller boat. Our photo/video discs were delivered to our hotel the next day - everything came out great. We were really pleased. While I was terrified beforehand, I am so happy I did this. It was an amazing experience and once you're underwater, you forget about the helmet (which is MUCH lighter in water) and the fear. I'd say the main thing to remember is just not to bend so that water doesn't tip into the helmet. As long as you stay straight, there's nothing to worry about - and even if there was, the divers regularly check on you to make sure you're ok.
10/10 experience! Must do!

Upon descending with 37 Kg helmet water upto chin level splattering upto mouth and nose had severe ear pain despite attempts to equalise pressure it got worse and found it suffocating . could see no fish and waves kept bobbing the helmet up and down and twisting neck side to side It was scary had to come up . steps very widely spaced made it more difficult to go up or down. I would not recommend it. No safety features except friendly patient instructor.

We only did this because it was included as part of our All-inclusive package. If we'd have paid for it we would have been very disappointed!
We were quite looking forward to it until we sat in the office reading the introductory documents and then we both ended up feeling quite nervous! It was advertised as a nice calm walk across the seabed that was suitable for young and old… the induction notes then started talking about water getting in the helmets whilst you were underwater, equalising your ears as you leave the boat and travel down under the water, heavy currents pushing you around… I’m not really sure what we were expecting but we started to wonder what we’d signed up for!
The boat that took us out was a pretty old speedboat, it had seen better days! It leaves from the far corner of the beach to the left of the Grand Mirage hotel as you are looking out to sea.
The boat takes you out to a pontoon which is anchored a little way off of the beach. The pontoon itself and the Seawalk helmets that greet you also look really old and were not making us feel any more comfortable about the whole thing! The helmets reminded me of something out of an old war film!
There were 3 guys on the boat, 2 didn’t really seem to speak English and the 1 guiding us through things was trying his best but was maybe not as clearly spoken as we needed in that situation, especially when you’re feeling a little on edge!
My partner went first, got on the stairs on the back of the boat and started stepping down. They then lowered the helmet on to him so that the water took some of the weight of it but you could see immediately from his face that he didn’t like the feeling! The helmets can make you feel very claustrophobic. It was quite a rough day when we went out too, so as he tried to then step further down the ladder into the sea, a wave came across and loads of water went up in to the helmet. At that point he jumped straight out and said no, I can’t do that, I don’t feel comfortable.
I felt bad that they’d brought us out and had everything set up so I felt that I had to go through with it then so as not to have wasted their time! But to be honest, when I got half way down the ladder and had water splashing into my helmet, I could quite easily have said no thank you, I don’t like this feeling either!
But I persevered and managed to equalise my ears by continuously swallowing until I hit the seabed.
The instructor took my hand and guided me to a rail to hold on to – there was a really strong current so you needed to be fairly strong to stand your ground. There is no way an older person could have done it.
The sensation of breathing normally underwater was a bit odd and it wasn’t pleasant when water came in to the helmet – It got up to around chin level – you have to just stay calm and somehow trust that it’s not going to completely fill up with water!
The instructor gave me some fish food to squirt in front of my face which brought fish over to me and it was good fun for a minute or 2 but that was about it – there were only 2 types of fish down there so once you’ve seen them it gets boring pretty quickly. You stay in a little area that’s just a couple of meters squared and there is literally nothing else around for you to see. I used the 2 bottles of fish food that the instructor took down with him, whilst he took loads of photos, then he got me to hold on to a metal bar and he walked me round in a circle away from the fixed bar that I had been holding and then he signalled whether I wanted to stay down or go up and I jumped at the chance for it to be over! I wasn’t enjoying being in the helmet and there was nothing more to see anyway! Needless to say we were happy when the rickety boat got us back to dry land! You can go to the office and view your photos the next day but we didn’t buy any as the quality wasn’t great.
So in summary, I was sort of glad that I tried it, just so I knew what it was all about, but I wouldn’t do it again and I definitely wouldn’t pay to do it.

Dear Ms. Emma,
"Greeting from Seawalker at Grand Mirage Resort"
Thank you kindness vote & reviews. Your vote & reviews is helpful to our future be better.
We apologize in advance if you feel uncomfortable with equipment, boats, and staff with a little basic English, well we will discuss this problem with management in the future we will update everything, the boat and also the staff will learn more English,
Apologize again we explain a little for the problem of seawalker, our helmet really weighs 37 kg, and indeed when it will go down then the water will rise because of the influence of the waves and this is normal, we will also get pressure in water maybe you are not familiar because you first tried this and normally the water coming in the helmet under your chin but if you keep look straight the water will not come up until your mouth, incidentally the current sea water conditions, waves, not many fish, and poor visibility because we can not predict it every time can change, and before all this you did read in briefing noted and also the staff explained again in the pontoon with a brief briefing.
And once again we apologize for all the inconvenience, we will fix everything and in the future much better for our next guests, and we hope that when you want to try again in our seawalker with your family and get good water conditions and photos which is very good to see.
Best Regard,
Putri

My wife and decided to go sea walking after seeing it advertised and reading some of the reviews. Overall the experience was pretty terrible. For a few reasons:
1. Transport to and from Grand Mirage - The driver picked us up 45 minutes late from our hotel. During the trip the driver kept trying to book us in for day trips even after I told him we weren’t interested.
Before we left to go back to our hotel we decided to get something to eat (as we had to cancel our plans after seawalking). When we arrived back at the desk to arrange trip back to our hotel the guy behind the desk started berating us for arriving back late (even though we hadn’t arranged a departure time). This was a bit rich considering the circumstances.
2. Timing - due to poor management on
their part we went out on the boat about an hour later than was planned.
3. Experience - terrible, poor visibility, unsafe and rushed. we were taken a few hundred meters off the beach to a pontoon. We then climbed down a 4m ladder to the ocean floor. At the bottom was a small metal structure about a 1m high and about 2m wide x 2m long. A few fish hung around the metal structure. Visibility was very poor, about 2m -3m at best.
As soon as I arrived at the metal structure on the sea floor the instructor disappeared to get my wife. I was a little worried as the water in my helmet started to rise eventually stopping at my mouth. Standing straight up didn’t work help to drain the water as suggested.
We were provided with some fish food which lasted about 2 minutes.
4. Safety - we were provided a very brief rundown on rules, I was left by myself as soon as I got to the bottom, the instructors spent more time taking photos than actually looking at any signals we were giving him. Overall I’d say that the way it is operated is a very high risk to the health of participants and I wouldn’t recommend these operators to anyone.
Overall, the experience was terrible and I wish I took the 1 star reviews for this mob a bit more seriously.

Me and my wife will be staying in grand mirage in feb for our honeymoon. Just want to know if there are any special rates for the guests. Thanks Ankit
Written October 12, 2017
Definitely get the all inclusive package and depending on the length of your stay that will include a series of vouchers for water sports. We also found out while we where there by booking directly with the Grand Mirage and not through your travel agent you actually get a even better deal and more vouchers. Seawalker is one, jetski, banna boat, speed boat but any of the paragliding stuff being towed behind the boat you pay for.Special rates i think will also depend on the length of stay and whether it is peak season or not . We went in June which apparently is not peak time but you wouldn,t have known it was packed and really great value for money. service we received was superb .

We are a couple with a toddler. We will have to take turns while doing the seawalker. Since my husband wont be accompanying me under water I want to know will this be a group activity since I don't want to go under water alone.

Hi we will be arriving bali on the 2nd nov and will be staying at the grand mirage resort. is it possible to book sea walker activity after we reach the hotel? However we are only staying at the resort for two days. 2nd an 3rd Nov.
Written October 28, 2016
Hi. Yes. The walker activity counter is on same floor as dining. Easy to book and they have different times to go for activity. I'd recommend trying to get on the 1030 or 1130am slots. Have fun. If you didn't want to wait, you can always email the concierge (who are fantastic) and they can put a hold on the activity for you. Hope you have fun :)
