Overview
More
Attadale Gardens is a unique 20 acre garden on the south side of Loch Carron initially established by the Victorians with rhododendrons planted over the hillside. Over the past 40 years, Nicky Macpherson has transformed these gardens with the creation of water gardens with Monet bridges and waterfalls, planted with a painter's eye, a Japanese garden, a huge fern collection housed in a geodesic dome, a sunken fern garden as well as the traditional kitchen garden. The oldest part of the garden is the sunken garden with the giant sundial nearby. There is also a fascinating collection of sculpture scattered through the garden. There is a huge tree collection as well. A DIY tearoom serves homemade snacks, cakes and biscuits as well as tea, coffee & hot chocolate. There are photographs on display & reference books about gardening, which provides additional information for visitors. You can buy plants as well.

Beautiful, relaxed gardens. Just as nature intended, beautifully managed and easy to visit. Mostly level access, and disabled parking is available near the house. We particularly enjoyed walking through the leafy paths, spotting the sculptures. Novel 'honesty' DIY tea rooms, with coffee machine and delicious...More

Thoroughly enjoyed our October stroll round these wonderful, well kept gardens with spectacular Autumn colours. David and Toby (wee helper) were very helpful on arrival providing history of the gardens and map of grounds. Lovely day out and would highly recommend. Thank you

This is a wonderful place. If you arrive from the railway station (leave the station turn right and shortly a gate appears) you are let in free and asked to find a gardener to pay. There is a self-service tea/coffee sandwich place where you are...More

Friendly staff to start. Beautifully crafted gardens. Had a lovely stroll through the various areas of the garden on probably one of the nicest days of the year. Various styles of garden to see with lots of perfectly placed seating areas.

We had a really lovely stroll round these gardens with our baby daughter in a buggy - mostly not a problem, occasionally got a bit stuck on gravel, but easy enough to avoid. We loved the slightly off-track bridges, the ancient rhododendron hideout and the...More

Many thanks and so sorry about the sandwiches. All the food is kindly produced by Linda and estimating amounts is a very inexact science. We should probably ask people to use the walkie-talkie when this happens. We're glad Archie enjoyed his visit too.

Top tip - choose a nice day, take the 12.08 train from Kyle and after around 35 minutes of the most scenic part of the line you'll arrive at Attadale. (Remember to tell the guard, as this is a request stop). The station was built...More
