I went on the full day tour, "the ultimate outback adventure". I've been on a lot of tours all over Australia, but this was outstanding! The guide, Ron, was the best, and it only gets better because of the small groups they put together. Plenty of room for questions. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and there was plenty to see... More

We stayed at the Cobbald Gorge village in the camping ground. It is a very well organised enterprise and well worth a visit. The facilities are excellent, these included a modern ablution block, shop with gifts and limited provisions. A restaurant and bar and a very attractive swimming pool that overlooks a Billabong that changes colour according to the time... More

Myself and my 2 children (4 and 6 yrs) and my parents visited Cobbold gorge tours and village 2 weeks ago. My Mazda 6 easily managed the dirt road from Forsyth and checking in was straightforward. Our accommodation in the roustabout rooms were pretty average and very basic. The aircon works well though! Basic as in comfortable queen bed, but... More

Dear CT021, how lovely to hear all your family was able to visit us together. Yes, the road from Forsayth to Cobbold is easily managed in conventional vehicles, just drive to the conditions. We have 3 levels of accommodation at Cobbold Village, with the Rouseabout Rooms being our cheapest and most basic option. Please ask to see the other rooms... More

We visited the Gorge off the Savannahlander on 24 June. Of all the side trips we did off the train, this was the real find. The Gorge is small and intimate with the sandstone sides literally inches from the boat. Going up in the early morning was special with the low light and the day just getting going. The guide,... I have been to a lot of gorges, but I have never experienced anything like Cobbold. The only way to experience the gorge is via the guided tour. This three hour tour is excellent, and worth the $90 odd. You are picked up from reception and driven over a bush track throough Robin Hood station. The first real eye-opener is... More

Dear Katbat65, Thank you for your wonderful informative review that will assist other travellers when deciding to visit Cobbold Gorge. I agree, Cobbold Gorge is unlike any other Gorge in Australia, or the world. The combination of walking tour to learn the history, geology, fauna/flora and indigenous heritage of this beautiful region and then followed by the cruise to view... More

I wanted to give 5 stars but it isn't really fair. The tour was great and informative and I did enjoy it. However, we didn't see any fresh crocs and it was kind of sad because we've been looking forward to that. The weather was great and the boat ride through the gorge was very calming and scenic. However, our... More

Dear Wa15, thank you for your review of your recent tour of Cobbold Gorge. Sorry to hear you didn't see any of our resident Johnstone River freshwater crocodiles. Unfortunately this is something we cannot control as we do not feed the crocs they will do as they wish. The Cobbold Gorge Nature refuge has been created to protect all animals... More

We drove ourselves out to Cobbald from Forsayth. Planned to stay 2 nights at Cobbald but we extended to 3. Really wanted to do the full day tour, but not sufficient people were interested, so we settled for the morning 3 1\2hr tour. Ben was a terrific guide short. Bus ride, short walkthrough the bush. Bush tucker dialogue along the... More

Either arrange a tour from Georgetown or drive oneself to the resort, but be warned that the road is gravel and rough! We were picked up at Georgetown at 8.00 am, arrived at the resort about 9.30 am, commenced the three hour tour at 10.00 am. We were taken to Cobbald Creek and then set out for a two hour... More

This place is amazing. Parts of the road in are dirt and although they had been graded and we have a 4WD and an off road van, we took our time getting there. The tour takes 3 hours and is $86 per adult. It is well worth the money. Firstly you take a 4WD bus for about 4 kms out... More

The tour is an educational eye-opener. One learns a lot about the Savannah history and vegetation and enjoys the serene electric powered boat trip up the gorge.
