Lovely tribute
Jul 2021
This sculpture is on Omaha beach, easy to access and photograph. It’s very moving and there is an display near it explaining the artist’s intent. It looks different approaching it from different directions. I’m no art critic, but I liked it and it seems to capture some of the feeling there.

A Poignant Reminder of the Horrors of War
Aug 2019
Situated between the road and the main expanse of beach, this abstract sculpture isn't a destination in and of itself, but since you are already visiting Omaha Beach, it is a free sight to enjoy.

On the beach
Jan 2020
This monument is actually located on the beach. It is between the memorial by the road and the ocean. The shimmering metal structure is really interesting and looks quite different from different angles. It almost looked like blades or sails rising from the sand. There are information boards on the street facing the ocean.
It was nice to walk around and admire. There are sticks around the monument so be sure to keep behind them to protect the monument.

A nice memorial for the events that took place here
Sep 2019
With the removal of access to Omaha Beach from the American Cemetery, this is where most will gather now. There is free parking here and easy vehicle access.
The beach is nice and expansive with the country flags and a spacious sea wall. It gives you plenty of space to sit and reflect on the amazing events that happened here and the brave soldiers that brought peace back to the region. There are several narratives as well as some monuments commemorating the landings as well. The newer modern art on the beach is a nice touch as well. I would recommend a visit here.

Stunning

I have never been into modern design but this piece is definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of art and is so correct for that location.

What a place to visit to the American D-Day beach with a memorial placed in the sand, not to be missed on your tip to Normandy and the little lad we had with us could run aup and down the beach, weather was grim but that's October

Original WW2 memorial
Oct 2019
The Les Braves memorial is on D-Day invasion beach, Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. This is a rather unique memorial and at first glance you could have no idea how it relates to the invasion. However, it is far deeper than just a statue of a soldier wading to shore, and it’s not until you understand the meaning of the wings rising - Hope, Freedom and Fraternity, that the depth of the memorial becomes apparent.

Return to Normandy with the D. Day Veterans
Jun 2019 • Friends
Omaha is like all the other beaches and cemeteries. Its beautiful and very humbling. If you want to know more about the experiences of Normandy then txtmarc@gmail.com my stepdad is a veteran and we have visited many times. I'm pretty knowledgeable on the area and on D.Day itself...the whole region exudes a peace and serenity...but you are left with a true feeling that we have our lives today because of the men of D. Day liberating Europe. There are several monuments at Omaha. The most poignant is the one of the American marine pulling his injured buddy to safety...treat yourself to a piece of monumental history and visit beautiful Normandy...Ken Smith my veteran stepfather and Ken Cooke veteran friend are all over the internet if you want to engage...Bomb Happy is also a brilliant verbatim theatre

beautiful memorial ~
Jul 2019
You can see it from the parking lot...it was nice to just sit and look at it, see the beach, the flags flying...I can't even imagine what that day was like back during the war...so humbling and so blessed to be able to visit - the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach Museum and gift shop are nearby (within 10 minutes)...when we left we drove along the beach on the way out, beautiful views...We visited on the 75th Anniversary...it was a bucket list checkoff and I'm so glad it worked out this year...
