During our Normandy tour we visited all D-day museums and found this one to be the second best after the Bayeux one.
It's located some 10 min walk inland, south from the beach and the monuments.
Entry fee is reasonable and the museum depicts the pre D-day preparations, as well the operation itself. Also, many weapons and personal items are on display.
I found an empty Omaha beach labeled jar being the best souvenir to buy, which I filled with sand down on the beach.

Lovely museum, poor welcoming staff.
My 3 kids visited the museum while my husband and I got a few souvenirs. Upon asking to use the bathroom we got denied by a lady museum assistant in very stern way. Apparently the lavatory is exclusively for those who enter the museum and not for those who accompany children or purchase merchandise at their store. Manager, the museum is great, but please tell staff to be more family and people friendly, it would make the experience so much better! Thanks!

Great museum if you are interested in war artefacts - in particular the different types of vehicles that were used in WW2. Has over 40 different vehicles and lots of different re-enacted scenes which helps with visualising what it was really like. Ladies at the ticket desk were really helpful and the gift shop has so many great books on history and WW2 and Normandy. Worth the entrance price. We took our teens and they enjoyed it even if they did finish up before us!

This museum is packed, and I mean packed, with shelves of war items from bullets to clothing to letters to personal belonging - to the point of overwhelming. The displays however involve department store figurines and feel VERY outdated, especially in light of the much more modern museums at Juno and the American Cemetery. If you like looking at all the "stuff" by all means stop; but if you are looking for a more personal insider experience, the other two are much better.

The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum is a place which basically features a wonderful exhibition of various memorabilia, weapons, and a range of other items. They are meant to show how the US army went about landing on Omaha beach and what went on during that time. This is a very moving place and is worth visiting if you happen to be in the area.

Visited the Omaha beach museum as part of a lads biking week away, remembering the fallen brave. The museum had so many old tanks, machine guns and Second World War items that it brought everything to life, an eye opener on reality. Well worth the visit and the stories of veterans on the walls definitely awe inspiring.

Museums large and small dot the Normandy coast.
After visiting the splendid Memorial de Caen, you might feel that you've seen enough museums. But each one has a different story to tell. If you haven't seen this one, it's highly recommended.

We came by just after New Year and it looked like they weren't open yet. The museum is on the road that leads to the beach so it is hard to miss. There were quite a few things in the parking lot including artillery guns and a tank. We just parked out in the driveway and had a quick look at these items. It would have been nice to have gone in but we made due with what we had.

Thank you for your post. Indeed, the museum is closed during winter time. We hope you'll have the occasion to come back in the area.

A really well setup museum overlooking Gold beach. Lots to see and experience, 2 movie theatres to watch shows and really experience the action. Learnt a lot about the landings I didn’t know so very educational.

Tight parking but worth it. A smaller, but very well put together D-Day museum dedicated for Omaha Beach. It is just up from the beach. There is so much to see here - it is condensed, but worth it. Great gift shop too.
