An easy to access site on the eastern edge of Battleford, this Parks Canada location has four original NW Mounted Police buildings, situated in the fort dating from the 1885 rebellion. The site is well cared for, although some of the outdoor signs and photos could be refreshed. The buildings are excellent, and packed with artifacts from the time. In... More

I was not there to tour the museum but rather to use a seminar room; however, from what I did see I would go back and have a full tour. Great historical spot including the memory of the rather infamous Louis Riel and other First Nation leaders.

Been coming here off and on for years. Good interpretive guides. Don't miss the often- overlooked graves of the Indians hanged after the riel rebellion, located nearby.

Take a self guided tour of the historical buildings or have an interpreter lead you through an hour and a half tour of the park. Educational and well worth the visit.

This review is in response to the more unenthusiastic reviews below. (The positive ones do a good job of underscoring the place's attractions for visitors.) We arrived less than 15 minutes before closing, but managed to attach ourselves to a group that was about to leave--at which point the guide (in period costume) invited us to accompany her as she... This is a nice historical location that has been taken care of and maintained. We would recommend the audio tour as well as it just adds to the history of the area.

Grew up in Battleford and have been visiting since the days when our family could go in afterhours and out of season for picnics or to walk our dogs inside the fortifications. I always enjoy spending going through every couple of years to check out what has been added. The Barracks building has been renovated with new exhibits and a... More

Saskatchewan is full of national historic sites due to it being a part of the northwest territories in the late 1800's. Unfortunately they did a lot of displacement of First Nations and ran residential schools in the Battlefords. This fort is well worth a visit

This historic site is well worth the visit. During the summer, actor/guides recreate life at the Fort, and explain the important roles that Battleford and it's Fort played in the early days of the Northwest.

I have been to several forts in both Canada and the United States and this one is by far the worst and one of the most expensive. The fort is very small. Only entertainment is the cannon firing. There are a few neat artifacts to look at like the Buffalo horn chair. If you are in the battlefords for a... More
