The island of El Hierro (Canary Islands) offers superb diving conditions: cristal clear waters where visibility is generally 30 metres or greater; mild sea temperatures range from 20ºC to 23 ºC; mind-blowing volcanic formations and a great variety of tropical marine life. Finding all together at La Restinga and the Reserve of Mar de las Calmas, that provides a large variety of dive sites suitable for any level of experience.

My wife and I dove with Antonio in early January 2018, 4 dives. This is a quality operation with a diver master who cares about the divers and his business. The equipment is good the location of La Restringa is on the edge of the world. If you have only a little Spanish and especially if you are a beginner diver, give him some notice to enlist a translator, otherwise there is likely to be other clients who can translate. Antonio works hard to make sure you see all the good stuff the national park has to offer. Highly recommended.

I came here with another experienced PADI Instructor, and we both have extensive experience of diving in the Canaries, including running our own dive centres, and over 4000 dives each.
La Restinga rightly has the reputation for some of the best diving in the Canaries, with profuse marine life and the chance of big species including sharks, rays, mantas and turtles (there are even two turtles that live in the harbour!). We were not disappointed on any dive, seeing everything from seahorse, Spanish dancer and nudibranches up to big groupers, medregel and triggerfish Antonio works tirelessly to take you to the best sites, and when there to find things to show us, and knows which rocks hold secrets like Antenna Lobsters, Harlequin crabs and impressive morays.
All my Spanish friends also use and recommend this centre and the apartments he recommends are within 75m of the dive centre, so that you can get a good rest every morning before reporting for a day of great diving at a very manageable 09.30 each day.
If you are an experienced diver, looking for some challenging dives that are full of variety and life, then start planning your trip to El Hierro and contact Antonio to get your dive trip sorted.

We are bsac qualified and four of us used el tamboril through tenerife scuba. ANTONIO was our local guide for the week. The centre is situated in a quiet street 5 minute walk up from the harbour.we used our own kit but decent rental kit was available. This is a lovely friendly centre where everyone has a laugh. The boat used is a rib with ladder. The diving is stunning.the viz was the best I have seen by a long way. 100 meter views were stunning. The underwater scenery was incredible. Most sites have permanent shot lines.Because of some tide it was mostly "down the line, up the line, follow me". Antoinio is a dolphin in human form. He works hard all through the dive looking for interesting finds. And seems genuinely happy when there are finds. Because the viz is so stunning we could pick our own depth and still keep visual contact with the whole group. This is one of the best kept secret dive sites. Keep it to yourselves.

Te recomiendo El Tamboril, con Antonio tendrás la sensación de estar buceando en familia, más que en un centro. Personal como prpfesionalmente es excelente: el trato, las inmersiones, la organización... La verdad es que yo llevo yendo desde hace 8 años y no lo cambio por nada! ;)
